**Several Days Later in Jonest**
Alex sat by the bed in their rented room, watching over Thrain, who had yet to fully recover from the life-draining spell he had used to save Alex. The days had passed slowly, each one filled with the weight of the battle they had barely survived. Alex's mind often wandered to the thought of Shona and the ominous future that lay ahead.
Thrain stirred, his eyes fluttering open. "What are you looking all sad for, my boy?" he asked with a weak smile. "I still have an extra ten years, you know."
Alex's face broke into a relieved smile. "You should rest, you know. You've been through a lot."
Thrain chuckled softly. "I'll rest when I'm dead. Now, tell me what's on your mind."
**A Detailed Conversation**
Alex settled into the chair next to the bed, his expression serious. "I've been thinking about what happened with Shona. That god will hunt us down, Thrain. We need to keep away from him until we get more allies."
Thrain nodded slowly. "Shona is no ordinary foe. He's ancient and powerful. We'll need all the help we can get. But for now, we need to stay under his radar and gather our strength."
Alex frowned, deep in thought. "What about the realm travelers? Shona mentioned them. Do you think they have anything to do with how I came to this world?"
Thrain's eyes narrowed in contemplation. "It's possible. The war between gods and mortals was said to involve beings from other realms. If Shona sees you as a realm traveler, he might believe you have the power to stop him."
"We need to find out more," Alex said. "But first, you should rest some more. We'll need your strength."
Thrain nodded, closing his eyes. "You're right, Alex. Go get some supplies. We'll make a plan once I'm back on my feet."
**The Market**
Alex left the room quietly, making his way through the bustling streets of Jonest. The market was alive with activity, vendors calling out their wares and people moving about their daily routines. As he walked, Alex's mind was filled with the recent events. He had come so close to death, and the memory of Thrain's sacrifice weighed heavily on him.
As he reached the market, his attention was caught by a strange elf girl weaving through the crowd with an air of urgency. Curious, Alex decided to follow her.
**An Unexpected Encounter**
The elf girl slipped through the crowd and headed towards the palace. Alex, feeling a mix of curiosity and caution, followed her. He managed to sneak in behind her, staying out of sight as she approached the throne room.
Inside, the guards were trying to stop her as she walked up to the queen on her throne. "Please, Queen Valarie, you need to hear what I have to say!" she pleaded loudly.

The guards began to drag her away, but the queen raised a hand to stop them. "Let her speak."
"My name is Elara," the elf girl said, desperation in her voice. "The evil god Shona is outside our domain, drawing in monsters and drying up all our crops. We need help!"
Queen Valarie sighed, her expression one of frustration. "Fine, I will find someone to help with this, though we don't even need to. We both know the guild has plans to leave to the new world."
Elara's eyes widened. "Wait, what's the new world?"
The queen looked at her sharply. "I'll tell you, but you will need to find someone to help you yourself."
Elara nodded. "Fine, I will."
"The new world is a new continent that has been discovered," Queen Valarie explained. "Shona has plans to go there, which is why there is no more travel to the new world even though it's good for trading."
The queen then motioned for the guards to drag Elara out. Alex, unable to stay hidden any longer, stepped forward. "Stop, please. I will help. Just don't drag people out like that."
Queen Valarie looked at him with narrowed eyes. "And who are you?"
"I'm Alex, just an adventurer," he replied.
The queen regarded him for a moment before nodding. "Well, if you have what it takes, go do it and leave me be."
**A New Mission**
Outside the palace, Elara approached Alex, her expression a mix of gratitude and curiosity. "Hey, thanks. You didn't need to help me, but I appreciate it."
"I heard about Shona, the evil god," Alex said, his tone serious.
"Yeah, I know. I just need help getting the lands back up for crops," Elara replied. "So, I'll need your help getting rid of the creatures."
Alex nodded. "Alright. We should rest up before going. Even though it's daytime, we need to have all our energy."
Elara agreed. "Alright, but let's go to the tavern first."
**Getting to Know Each Other**
At the tavern, Alex and Elara found a quiet corner to sit and talk. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, a stark contrast to the danger they had been discussing.
"So, tell me about yourself, Elara," Alex said, taking a sip of his drink.
Elara smiled faintly. "I'm from a small village near the border of the kingdom. We've been struggling ever since Shona started drawing in monsters and drying up our crops. I came to Jonest hoping to find help."
Alex nodded. "I understand. I'm originally from another world. I ended up here by accident and have been trying to find my place ever since."
Elara's eyes widened. "Another world? That's incredible. How did you get here?"
"It's a long story," Alex said, glancing down at his drink. "But right now, I'm focused on helping people and finding out more about why I'm here."
They continued to talk, sharing stories and experiences. Elara's determination to save her village resonated with Alex's own sense of duty and purpose.
**Preparing for the Mission**
After a few more drinks, they decided to head to the inn to rest. Alex walked Elara to her room, feeling a sense of camaraderie forming between them.
"Thank you again, Alex," Elara said, her voice sincere. "I don't know what I would have done without your help."
"We're in this together," Alex replied. "Get some rest. We have a big day tomorrow."
As Alex lay in his own room, he couldn't help but think about all that had happened. The battles, the near-death experience, Thrain's sacrifice, and now this new mission. He felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination.
**Anticipation for Tomorrow**
Lying on his bed, Alex stared at the ceiling, his mind racing with thoughts of the upcoming mission. He knew that facing Shona and his creatures would be dangerous, but he was ready for the challenge.
"This is what I was meant to do," he whispered to himself. "I won't let fear hold me back."
He reached up towards the ceiling, his hand trembling slightly. "I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings," he said in a quiet voice, filled with both hope and sadness.
With a deep breath, Alex closed his eyes, determined to get the rest he needed. Tomorrow would be a new day, and he would face it head-on, ready to protect those who needed him and uncover the mysteries of his existence in this strange new world.
