Chap 5: Magical Evolution, and Chaos.

The magical core, barely the size of a finger, was like magnet sucking all the magicules in the area towards the middle. The constant process helped invigorate the scarecrow.

It provided a new sensation. A cold, brisk, autumn breeze that went round and round in circles in the chest. At first it gave a ticklish sensation, one that would send any child into a sprawl of laughter, but it slowly faded away.

The scarecrow knew that was something new inside of its body. Beyong the feeling, there was an inclination to control it. The sudden urge came naturally, just like the urge to breathe.

The magical core didn’t move upon the scarecrow willing it, but there was something cold and icy that flowed through its chest. The sensation swirled round and round, and it would make any human shiver, but not the scarecrow. Thanks to not being able to.

Then it went straight out of the scarecrow’s mouth, where it came out as a gas. A blue gas that slowly floated up towards the sky, and made the scarecrow's mouth itch like hell in the process. Clearly the scarecrow had discovered some sort of using the power, but now it only had to use it in a more useful way.

It sent out another batch of the liquid from its core, or tried to at least, upon willing the same amount of liquid out of the core, it passed out, and awoke, after its 30 minute nap, and once again attempted to pull out that amount of liquid.

The liquid floated out of the scarecrow's mouth once again. There was a difference this time however, the whole act had gone a lot quicker than before. Clearly there was something that the scarecrow could change.

The last hours of day, the scarecrow spent pushing out the blue gas out of its chest and falling back into a nap. The act became swift after only a couple of tries, and from the scarecrow’s perspective, it took very little time.

This act continued through the entire night. There was a moment when a shaman(a goblin spellcaster) saw the blue gas over the scarecrow’s head and wondered just why it was there. Then, upon seeing a boar being roasted over the fire, that thought promptly vanished from its head.

The chest mouth, that only came during the night, hummed during the short moments the scarecrow was awake. As the chest mouths sentience was directly tied to the scarecrow’s, it naturally could not feel the time the scarecrow was out. So in its mind, the hums were a simple melody, but to the goblins, that bewilderly looked around to spot the source of the noise, it was a cut melody that played part by part every 30 minutes, or so(they didn’t keep time. We’ll, one golbin tried, but the roasted boar made him forget all about that.)

And the next day was spent in the same fashion, and the day after that, and the day after that one. By now, there was two differences. Firstly, the liquid felt no resitance upon flowing up to the mouth, and secondly, the scarecrow could pull liquid three different times before passing out. The blue cloud above it was quickly adding up, and becoming thicker, and also bringing it more attention.

It was on the fourth day, when something odd happened. The core inside of it broke. It didn’t shatter, but more like a crack running through the surface. The scarecrow had used it more than it could handle. This development did not stop the scarecrow from continuing to use it.

It was on the fifth day that another crack came, and on the sixth day that the whole thing shattered completely. Upon that moment, the scarecrow realized that it had gone back in development, hugely, where it could once again only pull the liquid once before passing out.

But it did so, and on the tenth day, there was an interesting occurrence. The core’s expunging and drawing in of magicules formed a vacuum around the core. Despite the vacuum, the core desired, craved, to expunge more magicules, and began eating itself up, pressing down slowly and surely to create the magicules needed.

After three presses the core had fully disappeared, and been transformed into magicules. However, the core had the unique property of listening to the scarecrow’s orders, which it didn’t lose upon becoming magicules. It was so that the scarecrow gained the ability only gods had.

The perk, God’s Will, has been gained

God’s Will lvl 1/100

And upon this development, which would have killed a human every single time as cores aren’t simply created for humans, but rather born with as an organ as essential as the heart, the scarecrow could finally send the blue mist into the throat of goblins.

The scarecrow sent a cloud of magic mist flying towards the goblin child, that was still poking at the orc. The cloud attacked the goblin, making it cough so badly that it lost all its bearings and fell down on the cage and through the slides in the wooden sticks, only to be quickly devoured by the starving orc.

It was truly unfair that the scarecrow was not awarded the experience for the kill, as it had caused it. It seemed that dealing the finishing blow was much more important.

There was an outcry, and in a swath of goblin fury, oil was poured into the cave and put on fire. The smell felt warm and cozy at first, but when the orc’s skin really burned, the smell turned bitter, so bitter that every orc began coughing, which in its own turn, hid the chest mouth’s coughing.

“What.” Cough. “A.” Cough. “Terrible.” Cough. “Smell.”

And then there was chaos, as a wall to the encampment blew over. The cavalry had arrived, and there would be revenge for the murder of the farmer.

And there was further chaos, as the other wall was smashed through. The orc tribe had arrived, and they wanted their member back.
