Part 1
The land stretched out in an endless vastness.
What once might have been only a desolate landscape was now devoid of everything and anything that might enable life to emerge.
No creature would willingly wander into this land, where only death awaited. Yet, one such venturer meandered here.
No sense of purpose could be seen in this being, he just walked. Feet slowly rising and falling as he struggled to keep them from stopping, he had found a rhythm and didn’t wish it to be interrupted.
He concentrated on that sound, the pounding of his feet and the beating of his heart, the melody’s made as the sounds competed.
His lips dry and cracking, mouth parched. The being lay on the cracked white rock as he tries to forget the sun.
He once loved the sun, it gave him energy and life but now it was draining them from him.
The damnable sun rays struck his dreary figure, trying to pierce into his back, hot energy overheating his system.
He could only stand so much.
Thoughts were lost to the heat, his mind shut down, all energy was used on survival. He slowly got up then kept wandering.
His rest had cost him time, he didn’t know how much but what was time to him? He had no need of it.
Yet the lost time caused him regret, a nagging regret in his subconscious, his instincts screaming at him to move more quickly to make up for his short rest.
Why? He didn’t know. He had long lost his reasons as he moved slowly through the desolate expanse of land.
Why had i come here?
The creature was dyeing.
He noticed when he heard his steady drumming heart slow down, it always had a constant beat ever since coming here, never too fast nor too slow, but that had changed.
Like a clock the slowness was counting down to his slumber.
He knew now why time mattered. He had to hurry, but where? He didn’t know but he had to hurry.
He increased the tempo, legs carrying him faster almost swiftly through the eternal expanse before him.
What would running do if all around him was death? You can’t outrun death.
The vastness all around him where could he possibly escape to? But his thoughts had halted. Unable to ponder about his actions he just did what his instincts instructed, faithfully following his perceived path to survival.

It never mattered that there was no end to this desolate landscape, all he had to do was run, run until you reach the end.
“End of what?” he asked his mind finally regaining thought.
“The end of everything” a voice whispered.
Part 2
The expanse of light surrounding him abruptly condensed.
A single point of energy formed in front of him.
The change was so immediate he became disoriented. The light he had become accustomed to was replaced by darkness, the heat had receded and was now seemingly radiating from the small orb before him.
Puzzled and unsure of the situation he looked around him. All was vacant except for the orb, and himself in this space of blackness.
He mused to himself how things weren’t really different from before, he was still alone but now instead of an unbearable vastness of heat, he was stuck in a world of darkness, his space was relative, as this black space could be thought of as a small box or an endless expanse like the world he was in before.
Suddenly his thoughts were interrupted by a sudden voice “enjoy your trip?”.
Shocked i scoured the dark expanse for it’s source until my eyes fell onto the luminescent orb.
“What do you mean?” i questioned the strange object.
“mmm…. you still seem confused from the transfer, don’t worry it’ll pass.” the orb commented in a melodious voice.
Suddenly i was hit with pain, my head was searing, i was about to scream when just as quickly the pain vanished and my mind finally felt clear.
“Luna, you are quite cruel” I spoke with a sarcastic undertone.
The glowing orb chuckled, her sweet voice vibrating in my mind
“You deserve it, saying you needed a break”. I could only sigh, seriously condemning me as a lizard at the end of the world is not my idea of a break.
Slowly i walk towards her stating in a gentle tone “so, are we starting over again”.
She giggled and floated closer “Only if you’ll stay with me this time”.
Kneeling, i lightly touched her glowing figure.
“Of course” i said as her light engulfed us both and the surrounding darkness.
“We’ll always be together”. And everything began anew.
