“Major, why exactly didn’t you ask him about his identity?”
Lyla sat on the other side of the table across Aileen, in this room that the Major and her Captain had been assigned in Kiroshi Castle temporarily.
“That’s because we already know.”
The man’s voice came from the corner of the room, where Hazef lay on the sofa while picking his teeth with a toothpick.
Then Aileen added on to his words, “He’s the S-Ranked Enchanter from the Enchanter’s Hall in the Kingdom of Galina. He didn’t exactly try to hide who he was in the first place. Our empire’s scouts have already told us that Enchanter Kazen had disappeared two weeks ago from the Kingdom, heading towards the southernmost border of the Demonic Lands.”
Hazef nodded, “This also corroborates his statement of having been on Mount Oris, which we know was the truth thanks to our dear Lyla.”
Lyla ignored him, as she thought about the different places mentioned. Galina…the Demonic Lands…
Then Aileen spoke, “Speaking of Alethea, you are aware that you’ll have a year to train yourself before being sent on your first expedition, right? Although you’re able to enter Alethea without too many restrictions other than having to register in the Hunter’s Guild thanks to being royalty, you won’t be able to avoid the fate of being sent to explore the outer lands.”
Lyla nodded, “Yes, and I’m prepared for that. And once again, I have to thank you.”
With those words, Lyla suddenly bowed, as her blue hair drooped down.
“I’m glad that you recommended me to become a Pioneer. Being sent for expeditions doesn’t matter…I’m rather happy about it, since I get to avoid being involved in Father’s political games. So…thank you.”
Her suddenly formal behavior put Aileen at a loss, as she panicked while her face turned slightly red.
“Th-that’s not a problem! Wait, in the first place, why are you bowing to me? We’ve already known each other for 2 years since I got stationed here! I should be th-thanking you instead!”
Aileen felt like she was making things more awkward by suddenly thanking Lyla randomly, so she cleared her throat, then continued speaking while suppressing her embarrassment at the sight of Hazef cackling to himself from the corner of her eyes, “…Do you want to enter Alethea today? Or do you want to wait until tomorrow until Kazen’s Awakening is completed?”
Lyla seemed to consider for a moment, then spoke, “…Will Kazen also have to register with the Hunter’s Guild when he enters Alethea again?”
Hearing this, Aileen nodded, “One reason why we’re making him enter Alethea is to observe the impact a Reincarnator can have when he enters Alethea through modern capsules.”
“…and also, it would be good to observe if Reincarnators could serve to be a strong force for us in case we finally decide to go all out in the Ancient Forest’s conquest. After all, for the rest of us…there’s a limit to how strong we can grow simply through Alethea.”
She then picked up the cup of coffee that had lost quite a bit of its heat and sipped it, before continuing, “Once he goes through an incubation period for 3 months at a Hunter’s Guild branch where one of our own men is stationed, we should be able to let him roam free. Of course, he’d be added as a friend by Hazef, with the help of the ‘System’, and will have to report to him every 2 weeks about his movements.”
Hearing this caused Lyla’s eyebrow to raise, and she couldn’t help but ask, “I’m surprised that you’re simply letting him roam freely. I mean…I’m certainly happy you’re not restricting his freedom, since I know how stifling that feels, but…why? I am able to have the freedom because I’m a princess of Kiross, but what about him?”
She was expecting Aileen to respond to that question, but Hazef suddenly responded instead, “Because of the ‘System’. We’re not able to peer into the stats of those who enter Alethea, so the only way we can get information on that would be from the man himself. Would there be any difference when a Reincarnator is exposed to the system?”
Hazef paused for a moment before continuing, “We don’t want to risk using mind magic on him to force out the information from him, since it damages the mind…and we don’t know if it will be effective on a Reincarnator like him who’s been bathed in mana for so many years.”
As he said this, he got up and sat upright on his seat, with his hands clasped together and resting on his lap, “…So the easiest way to get information from him would be to treat him well, and hope our goodwill reaches him. And besides…we’re not savages, nor are we monsters. Is there any reason to go that far against a boy who just wants to return home?”
The group turned silent, as moments passed.
Then, Lyla seemed to come to a certain decision, then spoke, “…I’ll enter Alethea when Kazen enters it. You can materialize me together with him when we enter tomorrow.”
This caused Aileen and Hazef to be surprised, and Aileen couldn’t help but ask her, “That won’t be a problem, and it’ll even be better for us since there’d be someone to monitor him…but are you sure about it?”
Lyla grinned, “I can leave whenever I want right? Besides, how many Pioneers can afford to have their very own guide right after entering Alethea?”
This caused the duo in Lyla’s sights to become speechless, before they finally acquiesced.
“…Very well. We’ll make arrangements for both of you to enter together. And since that’s settled…we don’t want to be late. It should be time for Kazen’s ceremony to take place. Let’s start making a move.”
It was time for Kazen to awaken his first piece of Authority.
* * *
He shouldn’t have been surprised. There wasn’t a Moon in Alethea, so why should he be surprised that the Sun doesn’t exist here in the Forsaken Continent?
But still…it’s strange that the two places bear such a resemblance.
After having this realization, Kazen had asked Kayleen more about the different Gods that existed in the Forsaken Continent. Although she had seemed confused, she still explained to Kazen about the Four Goddesses that existed in this land, each of whom represented a single moon.
He was absorbed in his thoughts about the different Goddesses as he was making his way towards the back of the castle with Bidan when the latter suddenly spoke, “…Master Kazen. Are you aware of the differences between the Awakening process in Alethea and the ones that happen here?”
Being broken out of his thoughts, Kazen answered carefully, “…In Alethea, during their Awakening, most Awakened are granted a piece of Authority imparted by the one of the Alethean Gods in the field that matches their experience and potential…and they gain a ‘Shard’, which gives them a single active ability they can use within their field of Authority…is it not the same here?”
Kazen then realized he shouldn’t have been so foolish as to assume things would work the same way here, and felt ashamed of his lack of foresight.
He berated himself internally, then chose to clarify with Bidan, “…I shouldn’t have just assumed matters, I’m sorry. I had thought that it was the same here, with the only difference being that the Authorities were granted by one of the Goddesses.”
While they spoke, they had reached the back gate of the castle, which automatically opened as the duo got closer, displaying an open garden with a stone pathway leading to a glass domed building a hundred meters ahead, behind which was the gigantic lake Kazen had seen when he had first caught sight of this city.
“…It’s an admirable trait to own up to your mistakes. Don’t worry about it.”
Bidan’s impression of this young man seemed to have risen, as he spoke in a consoling voice, “…You’re somewhat correct, but not entirely accurate. You said that the Authorities would be granted by one of the Goddesses…but that’s not the case.”
As they walked, they passed the castle’s garden which took up the sides of the stone pathway, as many flowers and tiny fountains, together with the fireflies made up a beautiful sight.
“Only one of the Gods of Alethea will provide an Authority as well as a Shard to an Awakened, granting a single passive ability related to their Authority as well as an active skill. And when an Alethean has been given their path, they will have to stick with it for the rest of their lives.”
“But here…the Goddesses often work together to combine their knowledge to give more unique traits to Awakened.”
Hearing this caused Kazen to be surprised, since through what he’d heard from some of the Awakened in Alethea, the Gods were prideful beings who wouldn’t share their powers in the same host as one who held the powers of another God.
However, Kazen had no way of verifying this statement. After all, in Alethea, Reincarnators weren’t blessed by the Gods.
At every step of his journey, Kazen had needed to forcefully grasp the concepts of ‘Authority’ without having been granted the privilege by the Gods, taking countless more hours compared to those who had been granted an innate talent. Even then, he hadn’t gained a Shard, which could only be granted by a God.
And this was why he did not hold expectations towards this ceremony which he was being forced to go through.
They finally reached the entrance of the dome, as Bidan opened the door and entered. As Kazen entered through, he noticed that the entire radius of the dome seemed to be at least 50 meters, and from the edge of the dome from each cardinal direction, a path of about a meter in width connected towards the center. Each path seemed to hold a different color, representing each of the different Goddesses.
Red, representing the Goddess Zania.
Blue, representing the Goddess Aurelia.
Green, representing the Goddess Sylvia.
And white, representing the Goddess Serena.
At the center of the dome was a circular pedestal which was a half a foot high, made of a gray-colored slate.
Kazen noticed Aileen, Lyla and Hazef sitting on the north-eastern end of the dome, on the right of the path representing Goddess Serena. However, he noticed that there were 2 additional people standing beside them as well.
He saw the King, who was standing with his arms behind his back while he had his eyes closed and a black-haired man, whose golden eyes were gazing at Kazen with curiosity.
He walked forward towards Kazen, and patted him on the shoulder.
“You must be Kazen. I’m Lieutenant Colonel Richards from the Armored Division of the Antessian Army. I’ll be the one overseeing your Awakening personally today. I trust that you don’t need a run through of how the ceremony is going to work?”
Kazen nodded. Although the first Awakening important for every person embarking on the path of an Awakened, Reincarnators were an exception to this. Each Awakening would only bring them a substantial increase in their magic and soul capacities, since they wouldn’t be given Authorities nor Shards.
Although unfortunate, this was because Kazen knew that the souls of Reincarnators were fundamentally flawed. It was theorized that they were simply recycled souls, who had worn down their souls as they constantly went through cycles of Reincarnation.
And for the likes of them who were unworthy, which God or Goddess would be willing to part with a small part of their Authorities to bless one who would be limited in potential?
The King who’d been standing at the corner of the dome finally spoke up, “When you’re ready, you can step onto the pedestal. We can start the ceremony.”
Kazen then bowed towards the King, “I’m ready, Your Majesty.”
“Well, then what are you waiting for?”
Hearing those words, he glanced at Richards, who gestured him to go on.
Then, he stepped onto the pedestal in the center, as Richards fell back beside the king. It was only as the King stepped aside that Kazen noticed a black switch with intricate white carvings hidden behind him.
“Now then…we’ll be starting. Just relax your mind, and try to keep your perception opened.”
And with those words, the King flipped the switch.
And the pathways lit up. The red pathway was the first to light up, as it slowly started to glow from the edge of the dome till it reached the center platform. Just a split second after the red light had appeared, the other three lights seemed to light up at the same time, as they also started to glow.
In a second, all four pathways had been lighted up, as their light collided at the bottom of the pedestal, where there was a tiny channel an inch deep for the moonlight to flow in. The various colors started to mix together, causing even more colors to appear in turn inside the channel of moonlight.
Blue, purple, orange…and many other colors started to appear as they slowly intensified until they reached a crescendo.
Then Kazen’s sight went dark.
…
Kazen opened his eyes, only to be met with the void of nothingness, with the exception of tiny specks of light which he’d learnt were ‘stars’ earlier today.
And in the darkness of the void, he felt himself floating, drifting in place.
A primordial fear tried to take hold of him, but for some reason, it was suppressed by an innate emotion that existed in the deepest recesses of his heart.
He didn’t know how long had passed, nor did he feel the passage of time. A tiny part of him felt like giving in to despair, and yet, his mind did not allow him to.
…
An untold amount of time passed, and then…he started to feel a presence.
And then another. After some time…he could feel the divinity of multiple entities focused on him.
They’re looking at me…
Gazes. He could feel the presence of eyes looking down at him, although he couldn’t see anything.
Then suddenly, at some unknown point in time, he realized he’d already been surrounded by the Four Goddesses in the form of their respective Moons, surrounding him from each cardinal direction.
Each of them seemed to fill up the entirety of the void, their lights shining upon Kazen as he felt their gazes become even stronger, to the point of becoming tangible.

His mind was filled with different impressions of these gazes.
He felt a gaze that looked at him with a lust for battle, wanting to put him a myriad of trials.
He felt a gaze which held anticipation, excited towards the journeys Kazen would experience.
He felt a gaze filled with curiosity, pondering over his body that had been basked in mana and moonlight for millenniums.
And he felt a gaze…which held sympathy, and concern towards him and a desire for his well-being.
Kazen started to hear murmurs, filled with different voices as they slowly grew louder.
“…How interesting…”
When the voices had grown sufficiently clear…he could hear a feisty woman’s voice suddenly echo all around him, reverberating directly into his mind.
“Time and time again, you’ve exceeded your limits which shouldn’t have been possible. You certainly are worthy of my blessing. And what power is greater than gaining the Authority of Combat?”
The voice sounded excited, as a reddish aura started to surround his body, waiting to be accepted in.
In this aura, he could sense a will that had gone through countless battles, refining its prowess in killing to the maximum degree. His mind suddenly recalled the few battles he had been through, and he was able to gain a few insights on how he could have done better just using the presence of the red aura.
Then, a voice filled with a hint of teasing appeared.
“And become a block-headed fool who only knows how to destroy everything?! This is why you didn’t have any friends…The Authority of Precision clearly suits him a lot more! He clearly doesn’t have that much combat experience, so the Authority of Combat doesn’t suit him in the first place.”
A green aura started to surround him, intertwining with that of the red aura as he felt as if he could absorb either Authority as long as he willed it. He felt his focus grow clearer, as he suddenly became able to differentiate the two different auras surrounding him.
Then, a cool voice added to the ongoing chatter.
“…But he’s already proven himself to be suited for magic based on research. You can just look at the surface of his soul, you can see he even learnt Enchanting even without an Authority in his latest cycle. Then wouldn’t my Authority of Mind not suit him best?”
“Who wants to be stuck around books all day? It’s so much better to just beat up people who disagree with you!”
“That’s why you didn’t get married till the end.”
“Hey! Are you teaming up with Sylvia? Why are both of you insulting me when you’re the ones…”
Even while the Goddesses argued, a blue aura surrounded him, making his mind feel slightly more refreshed as he felt it, and he seemed to gain the tiniest bit of insights towards Enchantment problems he’d faced before he came over to this world.
He felt that the mysteriousness of the Goddesses had somewhat diminished as he heard their chatter, but rather than disappointment, he felt slightly more comfortable. They just seemed…human to him, and not some inviolable existences high up in the sky.
At the same time, his soul felt gratified. He, who had always had to fight the path towards power by himself, was now being given the chance to choose from not one, but three different Authorities. Which Authority would make the biggest different to his growth in the future?
As he was considering this, he suddenly heard a tranquil voice in his mind.
“Child…so my senses did not deceive me…”
When the new voice spoke, the arguments between the other three Goddesses quietened down.
“You really have returned. It must’ve been hard on you…having fought to provide mankind with the light of hope, without ever knowing if your efforts would have been in vain…”
Hearing this, Kazen tried to shout and clarify what the Goddess had meant, but he realized he couldn’t open his mouth.
He then tried to speak with his mind, and that seemed to work.
What did you mean by saying I fought to provide mankind? Goddess, what do you know?
At that moment, he somehow seemed to sense a trace of hesitation from the Goddess.
“It…is too soon for you to know. But my words should have planted a seed, which can only be grow by you alone to bear its fruit. But…you have to be live long enough for this to happen. And this can only be done if you have sufficient strength.”
He wanted to continue asking her, he could feel a silent determination from the silver aura, and he knew it wouldn’t prove useful.
At that moment, the three auras around him billowed, as a new silver aura appeared as it covered all the other auras. The red, blue, and green auras seemed to exist inside the silver aura, and it felt like if Goddess Serena willed it, she could combine all those auras into a single form.
“And so…I have a suggestion. We could impart him the Authority of Elements.”
Then, a commotion broke out as the other Goddesses intervened.
“The Authority of Elements?! For his very first Awakening?”
“I want to see him grow stronger and help us too…but giving such an Authority for his very first Awakening will just make him complacent! And it’s going to take him longer to reach the next Awakening since he has to become strong enough in all four elements!”
“It will…but at least his foundation will be even stronger, so maybe Serena has a point.”
As they continued arguing, Goddess Serena finally intervened, “In the end, this is just my suggestion. All of you have seen his potential for yourselves. Even if he has to train longer, he will be able to do it. The choice now lies with him.”
And with those words, the chatter of the Goddesses quietened down, and their gazes focused on Kazen once more as he pondered.
Goddess…Serena, what elements will I have control over if I choose the Authority of Elements?
Hearing this, Goddess Serena replied him,
“It would be the four basic elements of Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. You will find it much easier to train in these four elements than you would without the Authority, and you will be able to combine the elements to bring about new effects. And as your Authority grows, you might even be able to exert dominance over the spirits of the Elemental Planes.”
As she mentioned that, he thought about the different auras surrounding him. The red aura seemed to hold the Authorities of Fire, Metal, Combat, and many others. The other auras similarly held many Authorities that the Goddesses had acquired over the entire span of their existences, and each of them held at least one elemental Authority.
Although he would gain a major advantage in the four basic elements, there was a disadvantage to this that he didn’t like. And that was that it would change the nature of his moonlight from pure moonlight to that which held the power of the four elements.
This would…make it harder for him to expand in fields that weren’t related to the elements.
Kazen was…greedy. Although he hadn’t been blessed in Alethea, he had at least tried his best. And through the process of growing stronger, he had learnt that he could convert ‘Properties’ to ‘Elements’ and the other way around too…but the prerequisite was that he had to have pure moonlight or mana to be used as a medium.
And he had pride in his own newfound skill. He didn’t want to give it up after his years of training, even if the Authority of Elements really did suit him. It was then that he remembered that the silver aura had the power to assimilate the other auras around him.
And that was when he had a thought.
Goddess Serena…each of the other Goddesses had offered me part of their own Authorities. However…if I were to simply ask for your blessing alone, which Authority would I get?
Hearing this, the Goddesses were surprised, and Goddess Sylvia’s voice shouted with glee.
“Haha, Zania, you got rejected~”
“Shut up! It’s not like you were chosen either! And he hasn’t even made his choice yet!”
Goddess Serena laughed, and responded to his question, “How greedy…you won’t leave any of us alone, will you?”
Although Kazen felt something was wrong with that statement, he still listened intently.
“Hmm…I can see where you’re coming from with this question. Very well. If I were to grant my blessing for one such as yourself, whose feats are deserved to be recorded in the annals of history…and for one who has always striven to forge his own path…”
Suddenly, the silver aura billowed as it exploded outwards, enveloping the entire area and drowning out the other auras.
“…What else, other than the Primordial Authority of Control?”
He could feel the silver aura exerting its will and influence in the void, as it seemed to be able to change the very nature of the void at will. It was then…that Kazen realized what he wanted.
And Kazen smiled, as he made his choice.
Then I ask for your blessings, Goddess Serena. Please bestow me with the Authority of Control.
Although he wasn’t able to see the ‘expressions’ of the Goddess directly, he could tell that she was pleased.
“Huhut. In the end, he chose me after all…not that any sane person would have chosen the rest of you to begin with.”
Then, the auras of the other Goddesses faded under their complaints, as the four Moons disappeared, leaving only the silver aura around Kazen. Then, the Goddess declared,
“You who has chosen to be blessed with a Primordial Authority, which only one other in this world has had the qualifications to achieve…”
Then, the billowing silver aura around him suddenly calmed down for a moment…before all of it started to surge towards his body in a frenzy.
Every bit of the silver aura entered his body, as the aura in the void decreased at an alarming rate. Power seeped and drilled into his body, as it tried to find its way to settle down somehow. The slightest bit of silver aura settled down and coalesced itself into a core at the bottom of Kazen’s navel.
Then, as if having found an outlet, the rest of the aura drilled its way towards the core, as it grew in density and power.
Then in moments, all the power had been forced into his core, leaving his body alone floating in the void amongst the stars once more. He then heard Goddess Serena’s voice for the last time.
“I bless you…with the Authority of Control.”
* * *
It had already been thirty minutes since the ceremony had started, and Kazen still stood in the middle of the circular stage, with his eyes closed as the different colored moonlight around him was still circulating around.
“What rank of moonlight core do you think he’ll get?”
Since there was nothing else to do for the rest of them in the dome other than simply standing around and observing Kazen, Lyla started talking with Aileen.
“Do you think he’ll get an E-Ranked core like all other Awakened? But that…doesn’t make sense either! Even if the capsule he was in is practically ancient with a horrendous conversion rate, his body was still exposed to mana for so many years! I think…no, I know he’ll definitely get a D ranked core!”
Lyla chattered with Aileen as she ignored the King, who was shooting glares at her. She knew he wanted her to display ‘proper’ etiquette in front of people from the Antessian Empire, but she couldn’t care less at this point.
Although Aileen had a helpless expression on her face, she still replied Lyla, “…We still can’t deny that there’s a high chance of him not receiving a single blessing. After all, Reincarnators don’t get any blessings, so why should he get one here? Then again, it is very likely that there are variables we aren’t aware of…”
While they were speaking, Lieutenant Colonel Richards who was sleeping on the grass beside the King suddenly opened his eyes and got up, as he stared at the pedestal.
In that instant, the surrounding moonlight quivered, as the intermixed moonlight in the channel at the pedestal’s base suddenly showed movement. The moonlight then separated themselves into their four different colors.
A strange energy began to fill the dome, which seemed to get amplified by the glass cover which the dome was made of as it all started concentrating in the center.
And suddenly, in the center, Kazen’s body started to float…as the different colors of moonlight started to surround him. Seeing this caused the crowd’s eyes to widen, as the King started to mutter, “…How? This cannot be! How is a Reincarnator able to obtain the blessings of all four Goddesses? Only the Emperor of Antessa has ever achieved this!”
Richards’s eyes wavered, as his voice immediately turned grave. He turned his head towards the others, and spoke.
“All of you…you are not to speak of this to anybody outside of this dome. Is that clear?”
Hazef and Aileen nodded, and after a short moment, Lyla nodded as well. The King naturally agreed, and Richards knew this. He had no choice after all.
They were bursting with curiosity as to exactly what Authority Kazen had gained, and looked forward to the end of his ceremony. And as if to spite them with their twists and turns, the green, blue and red moonlight surrounding Kazen suddenly…started to fade away, leaving only the silver moonlight embracing him as he floated.
“No…what is this? He rejected the Authority granted by all four of them? Is he crazy?”
Richards was amazed. Even he himself had only been blessed with an Authority granted by two Goddesses, and he’d have jumped in joy if he could get one granted by all four of them.
And yet, Kazen had turned them down? Rather than feeling angry about it, he was curious instead. All matters in this world had a way to balance themselves, and if one door was closed, another would certainly open. This was a principle he had always believed in. What exactly had Kazen faced such that he would only choose the blessing of Goddess Serena?
And as he had this thought, the world suddenly shook.
* * *
In the Kiroshi Castle, Kayleen was preparing supper alone for Master Kazen in the kitchen while humming a merry tune. The lightstones charged with red moonlight hung on the kitchen walls, illuminating the place as it gave the kitchen a peculiar glow.
While she cooked, Kayleen chuckled as she thought about how Master Kazen had asked where the Sun was right after he’d woken up. Perhaps he was trying to charm her by showing humor? It wasn’t a very good attempt, but it still made her somewhat pleased.
All of a sudden, the lightstones started to flicker, as all the lights in the kitchen went out. Kayleen let out a yelp, then hurriedly used the nearby table and walls to try to trace her way outside the kitchen. And when she did make it to the corridor, she realized.
There were no lights here either.
* * *
“Ohh!! It really does let out frost wind when you swing it! And you mentioned that Goddess Aurelia's moonlight in this stone can last me for at least a week? But then it can recharge itself under her blue moonlight? Doesn’t that mean it will never run out? The Moon of Aurelia appears every 4 days after all.”
Hearing this, the brown-skinned merchant standing behind his counter on the main street of Tunsa chuckled.
“Of course! Ordinary C-Ranked Moonsteel Swords wouldn’t be this strong, but this was personally forged by Blacksmith Karan! And we’re certified merchants, there’s no way we would cheat our customers…and speaking of which, do you still want to buy this iron shield? You get fifty percent off since you bought the sword!”
Hearing this, the light-skinned man buying the sword laughed, and was about to agree when the sword suddenly seemed to lose its power, and the blue glow faded. Seeing this caused a stupefied expression to appear on the customer and merchant’s faces, as the man muttered, “…A scam?”
It was then that exclamations rang out around him, and he turned his head to look.
And he noticed that all the moonlight in the surrounding area had been forcefully drained, as they rushed in the direction of the Kiroshi Castle.
* * *
In the depths of the Ancient Forest, a man with silver hair dropping down to his shoulders stood, surrounded by tens of huge giants of muscle and bone as they lay dead around him.
His purple eyes shone under Zania’s moonlight, and in his hand, he held a spear that flickered with purple lightning, giving off an oppressing aura as a light spirit flitted around his body.
“Excellent work as always, Grandmaster Zahan. If we keep this up we will be able to find another laboratory by the end of the week.”
Grandmaster Zahan nodded, and wanted to turn his body to continue when he froze. He then glanced at the Moon of Zania, with his eyes squinted.
“A Primordial Authority…who could it be?”
One who had the right to have been blessed with a Primordial Authority would certainly be no ordinary figure. He couldn’t think of anybody else in this era who had the right to such power.
“Unless…could it have been that new boy, Kazen, whom Leonard said was a Reincarnator?”
* * *
From the outside of the dome, intense torrents of moonlight charged at the dome, as they were blocked for just a split second at the entrance of the dome.
The different colours of moonlight, most of which was red due to the Moon of Zania that was in the sky today, had their Authorities filtered out by the dome’s glass as they then turned into silver moonlight and rushed into Kazen’s body.
More and more silver moonlight congregated around Kazen, as it surged into the moonlight core that was just formed in his body. As his power accumulated, Kazen could feel it.
He could feel every individual strand of moonlight as it entered his body, and with but a thought, he felt as if he would be able to manipulate the strands individually. Eventually, Kazen seemed to have become engulfed in a storm of moonlight, as all the moonlight from outside the dome had finally entered and surrounded Kazen’s body.
As the moonlight continued surging into him, he suddenly felt a 'Shard' of power crystallize within his soul, ready to be invoked through his will.
He also felt that if he were to will the Shard to activate…he would be able to dominate the moonlight in the area that existed just outside his body, forcefully manipulating its nature for a short while.
Feeling his newfound sense of power, Kazen couldn’t help but be slightly emotional.
In Alethea, he had never been blessed by the Gods, and neither did he think he needed it. He worked hard, and it was pure effort that made him as strong as he was. He had thought that having an Authority wouldn’t have made much of a difference for him, other than having things a little easier.
Now, he realized he had been mistaken.
If only I had this kind of blessing from the very start in Alethea…
The silver moonlight finally started dying down, as Kazen slowly floated down to the bottom, as his feet touched the ground. Feeling the pure and dense moonlight surging through his body, he opened his dark-blue eyes , which now and a ring of silver light around his black pupils.
Now, he only had one question in his mind.
What kind of a monster could I have become?
