Chapter 3- Yin Yang Blood Eclipse Physique
The funeral was a simple affair, while the local villagers were somewhat familiar with Baiyue’s father not many could honestly say they were all that particularly close either. The village chief had attended with his family consisting of his wife and three children but apart from them the only others were Baiyue herself and her Grampa Ming playing the part of the grieving girl’s pet bird.
Looking down at the grave stone atop the freshly upturned soil signally her father’s resting place, Baiyue read the epitaph she painstakingly carved herself.
『Here lies Hong Min; loving husband, a kind and gentle father.』
While she knew for a fact her father’s soul was safety resting in the amulet around her neck it didn’t change how difficult it was to gaze upon his empty corpse as she buried it. Deciding she had cried enough Baiyue willed herself to shed no more tears and instead made her way over to thank the village chief for his time.
『Hello Chief Zhang, it really means a lot for you and your family to come here today. I know my father would have been happy to know you considered him a friend.』
Looking at the now orphaned girl in front of him Zhang Chen sighed as he felt his heart fill with pity and regret.
『It’s such a shame Little Yue, your father was truly a good man. The heavens are jealous however and often take those least deserving before their time. I remember when your father first came to this village he had said back then how he was rather unwell but he had nonetheless worked hard and always tried to help others as best he could so I had put it far from my mind; until today that is.』
Nodding in agreement Baiyue felt the chief’s words resound within her.
『Your right, even after all these years I didn’t know exactly how sick my father was until recently. He was always smiling and putting on a strong front but looking back on it now I see he was struggling but didn’t want me to worry.』
Hearing such thoughtful words come from the mouth of a mere ten year old Zhang Chen lamented in his mind about how the young are forced to grow up early in the face of adversity. “Such a kind and good natured girl” was how he felt as he spoke to the young Baiyue, he understood then why his youngest son Zhang Wei was so taken with her.
The village chief had three children in total consisting of two boys and one girl. Between the two sons the oldest was a 13 year old named Zhang Jia and was destined to succeed his father as village chief one day.
The younger son on the other hand was a 10 year old called Zhang Wei and depressing as it sounds had no other future prospects aside from one day owning his own little square of farmland. Finally the youngest child of the family was a precocious little girl of the age of 8 called Zhang Lin, as one of the few others girls in the village close to Baiyue in age the two often played together in their free time.
The other villagers may have seen Hong Min and his daughter as strange but the Zhangs had always treated them well and Baiyue would not easily forget that. Zhang Chen’s wife Zhang Ling in particular used to be friends with Baiyue’s mother Long Meixing and always saw the grey haired girl like the niece she never had.
The older woman had in fact in recent years wanted Baiyue as her daughter in law and was always quick to try and set her up with one of her sons whenever she had the chance much to the girl in questions obliviousness. Though not the most tactful of times Zhang Ling decided that she may as well take this opportunity to help her idiot sons out.
『Little Yue with your father gone do you know what you will do from now on? If you don’t have anywhere else to go you’re welcome to stay with us, I’m sure Lin would like that as well; she’s always wanted a sister.』
Zhang Lin heard her mother say this and was quick to approve.
『Yeah, Big Sis Yue you should live with us it’ll be great like having a sleep over every day!』
Smiling at the kind offer while totally missing the hidden intentions behind it Baiyue still gently refused.
『Thank you for the offer Auntie Ling, but I know what I’m going to do next.』
『As long as you’re sure Little Yue, Auntie can’t help but worry though. Would you mind sharing what you’re thinking if only to give me a little peace of mind?』
"Auntie Ling really is kind." Thought Baiyue before she responded.
『Sure, it’s not like it’s a secret or anything. I’m going to the Flowing Wisdom Sect to attend the disciple selection in three months’ time; it’s what my father wanted as well.』
『The Flowing Wisdom Sect … You’re going to try and become an immortal!? That sounds so dangerous though, what if something were to happen to you? I don’t know how I would face your mother if I didn’t at least tell you I thought this was a bad idea.』
Smiling with determination Baiyue did not flinch back at her words of concern.
『My mind’s made up. Besides Father and Mama were both cultivators too you know.』
『Eh!? Brother Min and Meixing were?』
Hearing such explosive news for the first time Mrs Zhang was completely floored but after a moment of thoughtfulness she supposed it made sense.
『In all the time I knew her your mother never said anything but she was definitely pretty enough to be an immortal. I had to twist my no good husband’s ear a few times to stop him gawking at her chest.』
With a blush on his face Chief Zhang snorted and crossed his arms before not hesitating to throw his wife under the bus with him.
『Hmph! Like I was the only one “Brother Min~ Brother Min~” what Brother Min? Like I didn’t catch you actually trying to sneak into the communal bath when your “Brother Min” was washing himself. Are you are grown woman or a teenage boy honestly I don’t know what to do with you sometimes, if it were not for our three children together I would have half a mind to divorce you for that.』
Sensing her husband’s mood Zhang Ling wasted no time trying to appease him.
『Now, now; you know I love you.』
Seeing the comical interaction between husband and wife Baiyue laughed brightly for the first time in recent memory, the sound reminiscent of a beautiful windchime. Despite the girl’s disordered hair and clothes the lovely smile on her face was enough to bring a blush to Zhang Wei’s face much to the amusement of his mother and sister.
『Wei likes Yue~ Wei likes Yue~ Wei likes Yue~』
In a singsong like tone the little Zhang Lin did not wait to make fun of her elder brother. Of course having his secret crush so blatantly exposed in front of the girl herself Zhang Wei did what any boy his age would do in that situation and magnificently self-destructed.
『Don’t be crazy Lin, of course I don’t like that surname Long there are lots of girls way prettier than her.』
Nodding her head in assent Baiyue tacked onto Zhang Wei’s words.
『See Lin the person themselves said it’s not the case. You really shouldn’t tease your brother like that, besides what if there was some girl in the village who really liked him but misunderstood because of your words.』
The Zhang trio of Ling, Wei and Lin were speechless at Baiyue’s words. Without a single iota of doubt she smoothly accepted Zhang Wei’s excuse which surely even a three year old child would realise was nothing more than a hastily constructed lie.
『I’m suddenly really worried a bad man is going to take advantage of Little Yue one day.』
『Surname Long do you even know which way that whatever sect is?』
『Big sis Yue if a strange person approaches you offering candy please don’t follow them.』
Baiyue puffed her cheeks in annoyance honestly did they think she was clueless or something.
『I of course know where the Flowing Wisdom Sect is, it’s … east?』
『Surname Long! You’re seriously going to be sold one day while you help count the money. Mother is right your making me really anxious right now.』
Off to the side Zhang Chen and Zhang Jia watched the interaction with barely concealed amusement. Though at hearing the contents of their talk a brilliant idea suddenly popped into the village Chief’s head.
『Little Yue how about this, I have an old map with the sect’s location marked on it. It hasn’t been needed in years but occasionally a villager or two would head out to try their luck. Our village is a part of the Rising Era Empire and as such actually falls under the Flowing Wisdom Sect’s main sphere of influence. I can give you the map for free but you have to take my youngest son along with you.』
After fully processing his father’s words Zhang Wei was shocked “What on earth has father been smoking?” he thought seriously for a moment "Did he really want him to try and become an immortal or something?". Even more so than any of that though Mrs Zhang’s eyes were practically shining at the suggestion.
『Husband you’re a genius! Wei can go with Little Yue so I don’t have to worry about her and our little brat can go out into the world and try and make something of himself.』
『Are you all not even going to ask me what I think?』
At Zhang Wei’s lacklustre response to the idea both the women of the Zhang household rolled their eyes and dragged him slightly away just out of earshot of the others. Grabbing her son by the ear just like how she always does with her husband when he’s being stupid Zhang Ling harshly whispered to him.
『Smelly Brat do you not get it?! To you she may be your silly little neighbour “Surname Long” but I’ve seen her grow up all this time that girl is a true dragon that will one day soar above the nine firmaments. You make fun of her looks but the fact is she’s already better looking than half the girls in the village and I don’t know if you were old enough to remember her mother but she was completely drop dead gorgeous. Mark my words Little Yue’s going to grow up to be even prettier, don’t doubt the carefully honed senses of a housewife about this sort of thing.』
Releasing her son’s ear Mrs Zhang watched him break down into a blushing stuttering mess before she continued wearing down his defences.
『If she manages to get into that sect she’s going to be surrounded by all sorts of handsome and strong immortals all day long. What’s she going to care about a little guy like you from her home village. The truth is she’s too good for you but what mother doesn’t want what’s best for her child that’s why I’m telling you to follow her. Baiyue is different from most girls her age while I wouldn’t say she’s immune to good looks the fact is she grew up surrounded by her perfect parents so she’s generally numb to that sort of thing instead preferring to judge people based on her personal impressions. You’ve already developed a good sentiment with her if you manage to join the sect together you’ll always be a friend in her eyes and that’s the best you can hope for right now. The rest will be up to you, get into sect, hone yourself and win her heart Mother believes in you.』
Crossing her arms the same way as Zhang Chen Little Lin added her two cents.
『Hmph, Big Bro men are supposed to be all about guts are you a man or not?!』
At even his little sister berating him Zhang Wei clenched his fists and made up his mind.
『I’ll do it! Just you wait I’m not afraid it’s just becoming an immortal no big deal. When I’m a bigshot I’ll be sure to visit the village again together with Surname Long, you’ll see.』
Clapping their hands at the littlest man of the Zhang household’s firm declaration both Mrs Zhang and Lin cheered him on strongly.
While such wholesome family moments were taking place slightly in the distance Baiyue with Grampa Ming held squarely in her arms continued her talk with the Chief and his eldest son.
『I know it’s a lot to ask to travel together with Wei but I feel this would be best for his future. Can I request this favour of you Little Yue? As a concerned parent not wanting his child to travel alone I think Brother Min would have agreed with my decision to send you two together. There’s a certain safety in numbers even if you are both so young. While I would have definitely preferred to send you off myself my duties as chief keep me from easily leaving the village.』
Zhang Jia also took this moment to speak as well.
『Baiyue I know my brother can be a handful at times but please keep an eye on him for me, okay?』
Nodding her head Baiyue easily agreed while puffing out her chest in confidence.
『I promise to keep Wei safe, you have my word.』
The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
『Good as his older brother I can feel a little more relieved then knowing you’ll have his back.』
『Please leave it to me!』
It was at this moment the others who were having their own conversation returned to Baiyue’s group. Zhang Wei after thoroughly resolving himself declared his intentions.
『I’ve decided, I’ll go together with Surname Long to this Fishing Windy Sect or whatever.』
Zhang Chen upon hearing this nodded firmly in his heart “Indeed men of the Zhang family have to be decisive like this.”
『Perfect, Little Yue for now go home and prepare whatever you’ll need for your journey. As thanks for putting up with my son I’ll make the preparations for both you and Wei on my end as well. Come to our house at sunrise tomorrow and the both of you can set off.』
Smiling brightly Baiyue did not forget to show her gratitude once again before she left with a few words and a quick bow. She couldn’t let people think she wasn’t taught any manners right?
『Thank you again Chief Zhang, I’ll be back tomorrow morning.』
Shaking his head in denial Zhang Chen threw her words back at her.
『No, no I should be the one thanking you.』
Smiling wryly the grey haired girl felt it better not to argue the matter anymore and simply waved her hand as she left no longer deciding to linger around.
As the Zhang family watched the lively girl run off into the distance a thought suddenly occurred to Zhang Jia.
“What was with the bird?”
🙦🙥🙧🙤
『God damn! Little girl do you have any idea how annoying it is not being able to talk around others?』
Seeing her Grampa Ming not wasting any time reverting to his usual cussing self Baiyue felt it a shame.
"He’s actually kind of cute when he’s quiet, I had always wanted a pet too." thought the girl in an absent minded manner.
『Birdbrained disciple of mine are you even listening?』
『Yes I heard you Grampa Ming, if it bothers you so much you could have just said something, I’m sure they would have understood.』
Looking at Baiyue as if he was looking at an idiot Mingtian finally realised he had underestimated how much of a goody two shoes his first ever student was. Flying back on top of his perch in Baiyue’s hair the pheasant lowered his head to lock eyes with the girl as she walked.
『Listen and listen well Little Yue. You’re only a tiny little mortal right now but on your body you carry all manner of secrets even old fogies at the Apotheosis Realm would covet. Me, the Moon Grasping Manual and even yourself. Any one of these things can easily cause trouble like you wouldn’t believe if they were exposed.』
Baiyue paused in her walk home as she was confused by one point in particular of her master’s words.
『Grampa Ming I get you and the Moon Grasping Manual but why would anyone want me?』
『Heh, did you think I chose you as my disciple for your sense of humour or something? Very well I suppose I should tell you about this matter before your ignorance gets the both of us killed.』
Ignoring Baiyue’s indignant “Hey!” Mingtian continued in an almost bored tone. Rubbing his chin with his feathered wing he thought about from where he should start.
『Well firstly I’m not sure if you’ve noticed this already but you’re not fully human.』
Baiyue felt her eyes literally goggle in disbelief at her Grampa Ming’s words.
『Eh seriously?』
『Seriously. It’s not like it really changes much in your everyday life so I suppose your father didn’t say anything because he didn’t want you to feel like you were different or some such sappy bullshit like that.』
Rubbing under her nose with her finger Baiyue smiled at the thought.
『Hehe~ sounds like something father would do.』
『Well you’re taking this pretty well at least; I don’t know if I should attribute that to you being openminded or an airhead but whatever the case, it means you at least have some mental fortitude.』
『What’s fortitude?』
Shaking his head in exasperation Mingtian continued.
『Moving on, the first point of concern is that you are a half human, half demon. This is already a bad start because it means that if people find out what you are in 6 out of 10 cases they’ll treat you coldly at best and attack you on the spot at worst. The two races have always been at each other’s throats regardless of whatever world it is, on top of all that half breeds are seldom liked by either group.』
『But that’s not fair! How am I supposed to make any friends then!?』
『Same way you always have. Don’t tell them.』
『But I didn’t know back then, it’s not like I lied to the Zhangs because I wanted to.』
『Take the advice of your senior here; anyone who would judge you for what you are and not who you are is unworthy of the word friend.』
Smirking softly to herself Baiyue was touched when she realised that her Grampa Ming was trying to console her in his own silly roundabout way. Of course from Mingtian’s perspective he only saw his touched in the head disciple suddenly smiling and giggling like a crazy person.
Deciding to not look at such a disturbing thing anymore the pheasant instead stared at the clouds rolling past as Baiyue walked on.
『Point of concern number two: The fact your mother is a main branch descendant of the dragon clan.』
When this new set of shocking information was revealed Baiyue really couldn’t help herself and stopped walking a second time.
『Grampa Ming now I know you’re messing with me. I think I would know if Mama was a dragon.』
『Birdbrained disciple you did not even know you were a dragon, how the hell would you know if anyone else was?』
Baiyue opened her mouth ready to refute the arrogant bird but … she really did not have any ground to stand on so she simply shut up and kept walking.
『A demon is a demonic beast who has by chance obtained spiritual awareness and cultivated a human-like form. This term also applies to the descendants of such creatures who will possess an innate spiritual awareness as well as the ability to take on a human form from birth. This is the category your mother will have fallen into, though dragons are special even among demonic beasts.』
『Grampa Ming how are dragon’s special?』
『They are divine beasts.』
Using all the excess brain power she could muster Baiyue thought hard about where she had heard something similar before and like a light bulb suddenly turning on it came to her.
『Grampa Ming when we first met didn’t you say you were a divine phoenix?』
『Hee~ so you actually remember that huh? Well you are right there is a connection. Phoenixes along with dragons and spirit foxes are all divine beasts.』
『What makes them so great though?』
『We divine beasts are born with innately powerful bloodlines bestowing us with unique natural abilities. Furthermore the divine beast clans are also considered the royal families of the three tribes of demonic beasts.』
Hearing the word “royal” Baiyue wasted no time asking the question that any other young girl in her place would surely ask as well, eyes shining brilliantly.
『Wait! Does that mean I’m a princess!?』
Mingtian when he heard this gave her a friendly little eye squint before replying bluntly.
『It means you’re a bastard.』
And as such her hopes were thoroughly crushed just as suddenly as they were raised. Baiyue feeling sullen all over again trudged on kicking pebbles with her feet as she went.
『It would have been nice.』
『Trust me Little Yue being royalty isn’t as fun as it sounds. Besides despite being a half human the actual purity of your dragon bloodline is far beyond question. In fact this brings me to the most important thing, problem number three.』
『Problem number three?』
『Yes, this is also why I chose you as my disciple. You possess a very special body.』
『Grampa Ming you’re giving me goosebumps, can you please not speak in such a creepy way?』
Despite Baiyue’s best efforts at a joke the black pheasant was like emotionless stone; unmoving. Mingtian then continued to speak in the same tone he used when he said he would create the Moon Grasping Manual, with a solemness beyond question or interruption.
『You Long Baiyue possess a one in a “I don’t even have a number for it” type of physique, the Yin Yang Blood Eclipse Physique. This physique means that you are one person but are also two.』
『I’m … two people?』
『Yes when your mother was first pregnant she was most likely going to give birth to twins, at some point during the pregnancy however the two of you reabsorbed one another and only you were born.』
Feeling her chaotic mood Mingtian flew off from her head just in time to see Baiyue run over to the side of the dirt road to empty her stomach of its content. In the end he did not stop talking however as what he had to say was much too important to leave halfway.
『It’s often the case that half breeds do not survive long enough to be born their different bloodlines rejecting each other, the more drastic the difference the more likely stillbirth seems. Your father has the bloodline of a human peasant and your mother is the direct descendent of a true god Empyrean the difference is literally the difference between heaven and earth, your birth in and of itself is a miracle.』
Waiting a moment for Baiyue to catch her breath and recompose herself Mingtian then explained his theory.
『As twins death would have been an absolute certainty but through sheer chance your unborn selves somehow stumbled upon the solution. Two people one body, instead of forcing the incompatible bloodlines to merge recklessly isolate the bloodlines to their purest atavistic states and then segregate them behind one another.』
Mingtian knew that his explanation was perhaps too advanced for someone so young but he spoke anyway because he understood that if he didn’t tell her now she may suffer for it later. Continuing on he elaborated on what this actually meant for her as far as concrete symptoms.
『You actually have two souls Little Yue, a side effect of this is one constantly jailing the other vying to become the dominant persona. While you’re not consciously aware of it, this is your Lunar Form most likely your Solar Form was forcibly sealed to protect the whole as the bloodline strength would have been too much for an infant to bear but as you grow stronger the other you is going to rage against the bars of its prison in hopes of one day escaping. Should it do so it will do everything in its power to stay in control so assign this to memory you are most vulnerable when your emotions are unstable and the seal is weakest during a lunar eclipse. Conversely speaking it will be equally vulnerable when emotional and if you are sealed the barrier will be weakest during a solar eclipse.』
Baiyue had until this point been sitting still on the dirty ground quietly listening with her head lowered and bangs covering her face. When Mingtian finished speaking though she looked up slowly to reveal her eyes clearly slitted burning a blazing red.
『She.』
Hearing this Mingtian was utterly confused.
『What?』
『She not it. Stop speaking as though she’s a thing.』
Finally having some context the master decided he would do well to strongly caution his new student.
『Fine she. But be warned Little Yue she is not your friend she is everything you are not where you are kind she will be ruthless where you are shy she will be bold and where you are simple she will be cunning. If she cannot brute force herself through her seal she will try to trick you like a whisper in your ear telling you things that might not be true. All this in an attempt to cause you suffering just so that she can get out. Because that’s all she wants in the end, she is forced to watch you live through your eyes without ever being able to interact with the world herself. Who knows how mentally stable she’ll be perhaps the very first thing she’ll do if she gets out is harm those closest to you. So again be warned she is not your friend.』
Despite everything he said though Baiyue only smiled a sad little smile and looked up at the sky as she spoke to seemingly no one in particular.
『It must be painful. But I’m sorry I have things I have to do too so not right now. Someday though I promise.』
After such cryptic words Baiyue closed her eyes with a slow and deliberate blink before she looked forward again but this time her eyes were back to their normal black selves. Getting up from the ground Baiyue dusted herself off and smiled a real smile again towards her Grampa Ming.
『Come on let’s go back we’ve taken too long as it is already.』
『Yeah you’re right.』
Saying so he flew back onto his nest on the crown of Baiyue’s hair and the duo made their way, all unpleasant atmosphere left behind them.
『Oh by the way Little Yue when we get home you should really wash your mouth, your breath stinks.』
『Grampa Ming you can’t say that to a girl!』
『Whatever.』
Following their exchange the pair of girl and bird continued on with their walk and eventually arrived without any further interruptions to waylay them. Inside the house Mingtian perched himself on Baiyue’s bed as he watched the little girl begin packing her worldly possessions meagre as they were.
A comb, a hand mirror, several changes of clothes, the money Hong Min left behind along with five high class spirit stones he himself had put aside for her and finally her father’s spatial ring which she wore on her left hand. Together with the sealed letter and the seemingly blank Moon Grasping Manual this was everything she packed into her personal bag.
As far as food was concerned the most she had was a few jerkies to go with a water skin, it was far from enough to get her to her destination but Baiyue would work it out as she went. When Mingtian looked out the window he noted that the sun was still up so he started to show Baiyue a few basic martial arts forms to work on her foundation.
Obviously as he was currently a bird he found even this rather difficult but with time and much patience she started to achieve a rough approximation of the movements he described. Baiyue could not be said by any stretch of the imagination to be a genius but she was not terrible either if Mingtian were to describe any faults it would be her meekness showing through in her strikes.
Baiyue would take on various poses before following them through into attacks, deflections and evasions. The young girl enjoyed the time she spent honing herself as it allowed her to empty her mind and if only for a little while forget her troubles.
Mingtian wanted to start Baiyue off small with only a few basic exercises followed through with some common place martial arts that even simple farmers would have no troubles grasping. The purpose of this was to find the girls strong attributes and then teach her accordingly to capitalise on them.
After several hours practising up a sweat Baiyue collapsed onto her bed with ragged breaths, her work ethic was at least passable enough to satisfy Mingtian even if her comprehension was a bit lacking.
『Little Yue do you know anything about the major cultivation realms?』
Faster than roasting beans with lightning the girl responded.
『What’s a cultivation realm?』
『 … Fair enough. A cultivation realm is the stage a cultivator has currently reached in terms of stockpiled qi and understanding of the heavenly way. The higher both of these the higher the realm.』
『So it’s how strong you are or how much you know about stuff?』
『While it’s a little bit more complicated than that you’re not far off, the higher the realm the stronger the cultivator. There are 13 major realms in total discounting the Martial Foundation and Empyrean Realms. I didn’t count these because these realms do not belong to cultivators; Martial Foundation is the realm of mortal martial artists and the Empyrean Realm has stepped outside of the system altogether. For now do not dwell too much on this as its beyond your current understanding and will only damage your dao heart instead.』
『Grampa Ming aren’t you at the Empyrean Realm?』
『Forget about this matter I shouldn’t have mentioned it anyway. Instead I will return to topic the 13 realms are divided into the mortal realms, the immortal realms and the divine realms. You live in the Three-Thousand Worlds and as such the limit of cultivation is the peak of the mortal realms. The five realms of mortal cultivators from lowest to highest are Qi Gathering, Spiritual Foundation, Golden Core, Nascent Soul and Three Transformations. Each realm is comprised of nine layers or minor realms and even among minor realms the difference in strength between cultivators is often unbridgeable the only exception being geniuses capable of fighting above their level but this can be considered a rare thing.』
While he was sure Baiyue was listening Mingtian did notice how the girl was starting to doze off. If he didn’t know any better he would almost think he was boring but obviously the girl must be tired, yes that was definitely it.
『Little Yue I see you are exhausted why not sleep early; you have a busy day ahead of you.』
With a full body yawn Baiyue nodded her head as she made her way over into the folds of her bed. But just as she snuggled in she suddenly remembered the previous night and found the very notion of sleep not as inviting as it once was.
Mingtian was an experienced guy however and did not live so many years in vain as such he was able to quickly see through the crux of the matter.
『I will still be here when you wake up, so just go to sleep already.』
Curling up in her blankets like a caterpillar in a cocoon Baiyue pouted as she looked towards Mingtian with a pleading expression.
『Grampa Ming can’t you tell me a story?』
Sending the girl a deadpan look he didn’t even consider it for even a moment.
『Little girl I am your master not your father. Do I even look like your father?』
『Grampa Ming is so silly my Father was a human and you are a bird of course you do not look like my father. Grampa Ming I am suddenly worried for my education how can you teach me if you cannot even understand this?』
『You little brat, it’s an expression.』
『Grampa Ming I of course knew it was an expression, do you also not know of sarcasm? It is fine Baiyue is an understanding girl who is considerate of others and will not make fun of you for this. Seeing as how Grampa Ming is familiar with expressions I will share this one “A master for a day is a father for life.” While Grampa Ming is of course not my father my own is otherwise unavailable so if Grampa Ming would stop being a jerk face and just tell me a story I would most appreciate it.』
Mingtian was speechless never before had he ever received such a thorough but polite tongue lashing. While the girl seemed like a pushover at first glance in actuality she hid a core of unyielding steel and if only as a reward for standing her ground he would relent this one time and tell a frickin story.
Let it not be said Feng Mingtian the Phoenix Emperor was not benevolent.
