I was studying in the Imperial Science Academy(ISA),for my whole life I loved everything about life itself and one day I realized I wanted to research monsters and so I majored in Monsterology and in my last year while I was preparing a thesis for my graduation I noticed the fact you could confuse magic like you confuse a soup.

I found out you couldn’t confuse fire and water but you could confuse fire and earth to create lava magic and so I wrote my thesis about this but Magicology wasn't my major I needed something,I turned to goblins and after some research I found they had weaknesses and I had my eureka moment there.

"Every monster is weak to some branch of magic"

I tested different branches of magic on different monsters and each one of them reacted different,a dragon must be immune to fire right ? but because of my research I found out that their scale was weak to lava and many other weaknesses like this.

I was writing my thesis alone and so this took time I almost dropped out of school for this but I finished it and so I presented to the head professor Learn.

Head Professor Learn was a man that I admired,he was a good man that everyone loved,he cured the plague few years ago and he saved the emperor's life twice,they called him "Savior of Health" and If I were a girl I would have loved the shit out of him.

He arrived in my room,he was a small man,close to a dwarf because of his dwarf father but his white beard was longer than my non-existent beard,he started to read my thesis and after five minutes he was already finished,he looked up and spoke in a suspicious tone.

"You wrote this ?"

"Yes I did"

He humbled and went back to checking my thesis again,I was surprised to see him doubt me but even his doubt was enough for me,that meant that I got a fragment of his attention and so he pulled out a pen from his pocket and started to black out some words.

"These are not to be shown public get that ?"

"Y-yes"

His tone was so heavy that I freaked out for a second,he put the thesis on the table and climbed on the chair,and he started to watch me while holding his white beard with his hand,like a thinker.

"I see I see I will set the date for your thesis presentation,next week is fine right ?"

"It is fine t-thank you"

He jumped from the chair and left the room,I was so happy to get an approval from the "Savior of Health" himself and I couldn't get myself to sleep and so I drunk myself to sleep.

The next day I arrived at the academy,there was an announcement from the academy and everyone was gathering at the theatre building,yes I know there was a theatre building in a science academy that was because,five hundred years ago this building meant to be a grand theatre but this was changed to a science academy.

And so Head Professor got on to the stage,with his small legs,it took some time to get there but he did it and after that somebody brought a chair because he couldn't reach the magicphone(Microphone)

"All of you must be wondering why I called all of you here and now I will announce my reason"

I looked around and everyone seemed excited because we didn’t get to see the Head Professor that much and he was a public figure,and I was hyped for his announcement but this was a mistake.

"Today I will announce a research of mine about magic confusing and monster weaknesses,everyone must heard of magic confusing because of the fire and the water magic confusion  and everybody knows that it failed but look at this"

I was confused,I was surprised and I was betrayed by the man I adored so much but this feeling wasn’t over and two people arrived on the stage with a metal bucket,one of them looked like a fire magician and the other one looked like an earth magician.

"Now take a look at this the fire magician and the earth magician will confuse their magic and see what will happen"

And a lava poured into the bucket,everyone was surprised and everyone got up and started to clap him,here I was sitting in despair looking down like my life was over but again he went on,somebody brought a dragon scale and he picked up the dragon scale.

"Everyone knows dragons are immune to fire but they are not immune to lava"

He dropped the dragon scale in to the bucket and he brought a metal scissor and when he took the dragon scale out,it looked like a small stone and again everyone started to applaud him.

"Thank you"

And he got out of the stage,everyone started to gather around him and I just left the building,I felt like no..,I didn’t feel anything,I just walked around the town like a ghoul and I returned to my lab to get my stuff,I was leaving this damned place and I heard the door opening.

"I was looking for you"

I turned around to see that old man looking at me with a pitiful look,I was pissed off and we were alone and we had sharp objects around us,one wrong word could have been the end of him but he wanted to visit me for some reason.

"I know you are angry but I have a reason"

"R-Reason ?"

"Yes,think about it,a twenty two year old youngster with a pretty face suddenly opens a new age to the world without any real proof nobody would have believed you and some old smart guy from the community would have just stolen your thesis just like I did and you life would be over"

"T-THAT DOESN’T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT-"

"To steal ? It fucking does kiddo,you didn’t have any proof of you finding thesis,that’s why I asked you and don’t interrupt me because-"

"INTERRUPT YOU ? FUCK YOU I LOOKED UP TO YOU I RESPECTED YOU I ADORED YOU AND I SHOWED YOU MY THESIS AND YOU JUST STEAL IT ?"

"Shut your egoistical mouth kiddo,you are nor a genius nor a noble this is why I did it and I will pay it back with smaller thesis about holy magic splitting in two branches and I will put your name in my research as my assistant of course and you will graduate easy right ?"

That was an amazing deal for me,he was right about everything my research was so big that only a person like him would handle it and I got to graduate,own a thesis and be his assistant everyone without a pride would have taken that deal.

"F-fine I will take it"

He smiled and he pulled a paper and a pen from his back pocket and he put both of them on the table and turned to me.

"Sign it and this will be over"

I approached the table and started to read it,but I knew what that was,me giving up on the rights I picked up the pen and signed it,he folded the paper and put it on his pocket,and he opened the door to leave.

"Good thing you are not like your super egoist father oh you can keep the pen"

We called these words "Triggers" Psychology wasn’t my major but I knew I lost control there and that was my trigger,I picked up the pen and jumped on his little old body,it looked like I was riding him and I pointed the pen to his eye.

"Say one fucking word about my father and you are dead."

He wasn’t surprised or scared,he just watched me like I was some experiment to his eyes and I didn’t know why but this bothered me.

"Well at least you have balls like your father"

I regained my control and I stoop up,I was clenching my fists but I let him go,and I graduated after I proposed his thesis and I left the capital after that.
