A black blur rushed through the forest at a breakneck pace, a loud growl could be heard closing in fast from behind. Deciding it wasn't going to be able to shake its pursuer it came to a stop and turned around. Dark green with brown tiger stripes all around its back, it looked like a strange mix between a cat and an insect with its compound eyes and exoskeleton covered limbs. The Cat-Bug let out a loud hiss as it waved its claws threateningly in the air before it.
On its opposite was a large black and white Husky. It was only half the size of the cat, but its blue eyes stared on without fear as it bared its teeth and growled back. The two held a staredown as neither was willing to make the first move and risk exposing a weak point, however, it was abruptly ended when an arrow suddenly found itself piercing the feline's front paw, nailing it deeply into the ground.
"Now!"
Shouted a young voice hidden within one of the trees. A small boy was sitting on a particularly high branch, his shirt smeared with dirt and grass stains, closing one eye to help him aim as he notched another arrow with practiced ease.
The dog didn't need to be told twice, as even before it was told it had already been in motion, pouncing towards the side of the monster. The angry cat let out a loud screech of pain as a fist-sized chunk of flesh was torn ruthlessly out of its side. It forcefully ripped its paw out of the ground in its rage, uncaring of the pain, in order to swipe at its foe.
However, it was too slow as the dog quickly got out of range and circled around to its backside for another attack. It knew it was no match in a direct confrontation so it took to wearing down the creature. It would target the other's weakside while darting in and out between the undergrowth and trees, making full use of the terrain while its master made use of his high vantage point to lead the creature in a circle all while harassing it with arrows.

At one point the insectoid decided to straight up ignore the dog and charge towards the tree to kill the annoying monkey shooting at it. It lunged towards him with all its might, a large black mouth containing numerous of pearl white teeth aiming for his head. With a cheeky laugh, the boy hooked his legs around the branch and swung backwards, hanging upside down as if a kid on the monkey bars to dodge the giant monster. He didn't forget to give it a parting gift via arrow to the buttocks. After half a dozen attempts and a crown of arrows stuck deeply in, it gave up and went back to focusing on the hound.
The game of cat and mouse took half an hour, and while the Husky was only a bit worn out, the Cat-Bug looked as if it had fought with a blender. It was covered in all sorts of small scratches and cuts with arrows sticking out here and there as if it was a porcupine. At this point, it was angered to the point of madness that such a weak creature that it could stomp into a paste with ease in a single blow was giving it so much trouble. It was seeing red.
The boy was carefully watching its movement, noticing its twitching behavior he gave a smirk and gave a sharp whistle. His companion's ears flicked up briefly before a sly look crossed its face. It gave a mighty bark, causing the feline to tense up in preparation for another exchange of blows or sneak attack from above, only too... Turn tail and run!
It hauled ass and left mocking barks of laughter to echo in the woods behind it.
The confused monster tilted its head to the side as it blinked uncomprehendingly at the situation for a moment before an all-consuming rage made it chase after the stupid mutt that had been picking a fight with it. How dare such a fleabag try to run away after starting the thing! It would be damned if it wasn't having dog for dinner tonight!
The angry screech it gave off would've been enough to break glass were there any present.
Get back here you asshole!
