Educating Liu Fei and making a plan

She stared at her grandpa, wondering if he'd hit his head again. The last time that happened, he wouldn't stop asking for beer—whatever that was. She knew he wasn’t from around here; after all, he often told her stories of a distant land called "Earth." But today, something was different. He had slept all morning, and now he was recalling things he should have never forgotten. Maybe this was just how old people behaved…

Mo Shen was perplexed. His bloodline was of the highest demonic order, yet he possessed neither a spirit root nor qi channels. Worse still, he lacked any knowledge of demonic cultivation techniques from his past life. How was he supposed to cultivate like this? It was like holding an elixir that granted immortality—without having a mouth to drink it.

He tried absorbing qi through his lungs, but without a conduit, his body simply let it dissipate. It made no sense. Every other person with a demonic bloodline had a spirit root. Why was he the exception? Frustration gnawed at him, but giving up was never an option. After a long period of deliberation, a reckless, almost suicidal idea took shape in his mind.

What if… what if he tried that method?

The path of those madmen—the ancestors he had once dismissed as lunatics. The way of the Dragon Sealers.

A memory surfaced—his father’s voice, recounting their clan’s history.

Long ago, during the Era of Desolation, humanity stood on the edge of survival. The dragons, rulers of the skies, saw them as enemies, believing they had betrayed an ancient alliance in the war against the demons. Though only a small faction of humans had been responsible, the dragons punished them all. After a century of uneasy peace, tensions resurfaced, and the dragons moved to wipe humanity out completely.

It was during this time that our clan, the Dragon Sealing Clan, came into existence. Our ancestor had no part in the war, yet he lost everything to it. With his family gone and no path left to follow, he dedicated himself to a single purpose—the destruction of the dragons.

Thus, he created a forbidden cultivation method: the Dragon-Suppressing Fiend God Scripture. A scripture of the heavens, yet one so brutal that none dared to practice it. The price was something no sane man would ever accept—one had to destroy their own spirit root, carve new qi channels into their body through sheer force, and endure agony as their body expelled all the impurities accumulated. The final step? Consuming dragon fire, refining it into a conduit for qi. The greater the flame, the greater the talent.

Mo Shen's pulse quickened. If his bloodline contained draconic essence… then perhaps he wouldn’t need an external dragon flame at all.

Perhaps his own blood could serve as the catalyst.

A specialized Dragon Root—a spirit root of the highest grade, forged from the very essence of his supreme bloodline.

If this worked then maybe, his dreams might be achievable afterall.

And just like that, a week passed. As Mo Shen adjusted to his new body and unfamiliar surroundings, his mind drifted repeatedly to the memories of his past life. He had neither friends nor family to mourn him, yet the weight of losing everything he had ever known still pressed heavily on his heart. The uncertainty gnawed at him—was this the future, or an entirely different plane of existence?

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

The initial excitement of finding a way to cultivate had quickly faded. As the shock wore off, grief took its place, creeping in slowly but steadily. But as the days passed, he forced himself to adapt. By the end of the week, he felt ready to move forward. It was time to begin preparing for his ritual.

But first—

"Fei’er, can you remind grandpa what cultivation level you’re at?"

Fei’er blinked in confusion before answering. "Oh, you mean the plants? They should grow in a few more weeks, Grandpa. I’ve been watering them regularly." She smiled brightly, clearly pleased with her diligence.

Mo Shen felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. Damn it. The previous owner of this body must have kept cultivation a secret from her—for her own safety. He sighed before motioning for Liu Fei to come closer.

"Have you ever heard the legends about the immortals?"

"Yes! Brother Lin said he even saw one!"

"Well, do you know how to become one?"

Fei’er narrowed her eyes, studying him carefully. Then, with complete seriousness, she said, "Grandpa, that’s just something scammers say when they don’t have a real job."

Mo Shen let out a small chuckle before beginning his explanation.

"Fei’er, immortals are very real! In fact, even you or I could become one. So listen carefully—I’ll explain how cultivation works."

Liu Fei frowned, still unconvinced, but she stayed quiet and listened.

"The human body has 108 meridians, a dantian, a soul, a spirit root, and qi channels—or pathways. Each of the 108 meridians acts as a convergence point for energy, and they are the same to every individual, like a language written by the universe itself. By guiding and arranging the energy in these meridians,(and there are an infinite amount of combinations and permutations), one can practice battle arts. The specific pattern of energy flow in these meridians determines the technique used.

However, not everyone can cleanse all their meridians. This is why certain techniques are only suitable for specific individuals. Those who can unblock all 108 meridians are considered exceptionally talented. Once the energy is arranged properly, it can be released to perform a battle art.

"Next is the dantian. This only becomes important in the second realm of cultivation, but for now, think of it as a reservoir where energy is stored.

"The soul is far more complex—even I don’t fully understand it. But what matters is that the strength and saturation of your soul determine your ability to comprehend cultivation techniques.

"The spirit root is what allows qi from the universe to enter the body. It’s located near the lungs, so as you breathe in, the spirit root channels energy into the body’s qi pathways. These pathways, or energy channels, are naturally blocked at birth. A cultivator must open them over time. Once unblocked, they transport energy throughout the body, connecting to both the meridians and the dantian, allowing for the circulation and control of qi. Of course there are people with naturally better energy channels, because they have wider and stronger energy channels than others. "

Mo Shen paused, glancing at Fei’er to see if she was keeping up.

Finally, there were demonic cultivators. Unlike ordinary cultivators, they relied on their bloodline to saturate their bodies with energy, allowing them to cultivate both their physical bodies and qi simultaneously. This made them incredibly powerful.

"Fei’er, let Grandpa test your aptitude," Mo Shen said, motioning for her to come closer.

Liu Fei, only half convinced, hesitated before stepping forward. Mo Shen took her hand, carefully examining her energy flow. Her aptitude was average, but her soul strength was exceptional. He nodded to himself, already considering which sect might suit her best. But as he glanced at her, he sighed—she was still too young.

A plan began to take shape in his mind. First, he would need to gather spirit herbs, meditate, and thoroughly cleanse his meridians and qi channels. Since he hadn’t cultivated before, he would have to do it manually—a painful and grueling process that could take years. Only after that would he enroll Liu Fei in a good sect. Then, when she was settled, he would take the risk of forming a dragon spirit root for himself.

Looking at her once more, he thought, Maybe it’s best if she gets a head start.

"Fei’er," he said, "Grandpa is going to teach you a good cultivation technique. Follow this manual carefully, ask me if you have any doubts, and most importantly—do not tell anyone about this."
