In the year 2030, the world’s population had been reduced by two-thirds. Destruction had rained down upon humanity and had driven them to the brink. Experts had predicted such an event would occur due to pollution, expecting mother Earth to enact revenge on man’s mistreatment of her. The spiritual leaders expected rapture. Some believed weapons of mass destruction would end it all.

But they were all wrong. The reaper that had descended upon the world was much worse.

Monsters had come to life. Through portals they had appeared, ravaging the earth and its inhabitants. No weapon of man could harm them, let alone kill them. Their hides were too thick, their numbers too many. One country became desperate and let fly a nuclear weapon against the threat, destroying themselves in the process along with the creatures.

However, the monsters returned by way of portal. Like conquerors, they now cover that country like locusts.

All seemed lost if not for by some divine mercy, the Master System appeared.

The Master System: an artificial technology that appeared in humanity’s darkest hour to save them. It granted humans abilities derived from storybooks and RPG games, allowing them to fight back against the monster horde. Those chosen to receive such gifts were called by the system, “Anointed”.

Some viewed the Master System as a benevolence bestowed on them by God. Others suspected a devil to be behind it all. Nonetheless, what mattered was survival and that was what the Master System gave humanity chance to do.

With the system, humanity was once again allowed to hope for a better future.

However, now in the year 2100, the struggle was far from over. Monster gates could still be opened anywhere, and specialized monster slayers known as Wardens were tasked with closing them. These Wardens, infused with the power of the Master System, are the heroes of this time, the protectors and guardians of mankind, idolized by many as super heroes or even gods.

They were the hope of humanity and the envy of all.
