- -Unknown POV- -
Party Invite? What does that mean? Glancing at the girl she seems confused and says the same thing to herself. We kinda glance at each other for an awful long moment.
“W-wait.... Parties can only be formed with...Sapient creatures.... Are you?”
I had wondered when this would happen and am mostly just kinda shocked it took her this long to notice. But well... Yeah?
“Party Invite Accepted!”
The voice from before shocks both of us as I had unintentionally accepted the invite. What kind of system uses an unrelated though as an acceptance? A shoddy system if you ask me... But looking back up at the girl.... No.... Looking at her I can tell her name now. “Beatrice LeBlanc” Or as the back of my mind corrects me with. she seems to just look at me and scrunches her nose trying to understand something.
“Do you not have a name then? If you were a druid it’d at least give me that... Are you really a newly born?”
The jig up as it is I do my best to shrug. Saying I was born just today is both correct and Incorrect.
“Correct and Incorrect?”
I pause at that. Can she.... understand me now?
That comment seems to draw both of us to a pause once more as she just kinda stares at me.
She glances down and using one of the sharp implements on her robe pricks her arm with a slight flinch as it causes some discomfort. “Okay... this is not a blood loss induced hallucination... I think...” She would say that before pricking herself again in self affirmation causing her to shake her head before looking hard at me.
I can’t help but raise an eyebrow questioningly. What is it she’s looking at me for like that. At that though she seems to hear me again. Is it only certain thoughts getting across?
“Ah!” she gasps almost in response pounding her hand into the other as if she solved something. “I can hear you yes. but Only small bits of it. This is interesting I’m used to the inter-party system allowing for emotions to get through it to allow for better combat flow but I never figured it’d work like this!” she says as she reaches for my paw firmly grasping it. “It almost sounds like you trail off when you say things so...” she seems to trail off herself but a sort of cold shiver goes down my spine as I can almost hear her saying something faintly the gist of it being what she was going to say. It boils down to wordless communication in a way but I think I get it. Nodding to myself and them as somehow In this new world I’ve already kinda figured out my way of a not so fun situation. I get the feeling some of that was communicated to her as she gives a smile of affirmation.
All these revelations to a system I’ve only just been introduced too have really only served to distract from the three corpses we need to haul back. the sad thoughts seem to get across to her as she glances back.
“Ah....Right...I had almost forgot.” I can hear her voice become a bit sullen as her gaze is kept on the cart. I give her leg a pat trying to assure her as best I can. Not too sure how much gets across to her but it gets us moving at least...
- - - Some Time Later - - -
Riding on the cart is a bit annoying given my balance is already awful. IT probably doesn’t help that the giant bird hauling the cart is probably horrified of me and keeps speeding up whenever I adjust myself. Bea said that it was a Gargantuan Foul....Or in simple terms a Giant Chicken...Which honestly it is proving my point as I scoot towards Bea. Which I’ve learned is the nickname she prefers to go by.

I try my best at asking her how far out we are exactly and she seems to hear me.
“If this map is anything to go by...and the fact I’ve just ridden this path earlier. We’re a day away from town.” she says from her trance. I find it odd but she seems to be sitting there with her eyes closed. She said she was doing this to keep up her mana or something I didn’t understand. I guess it’s not too far-fetched to not have guessed magic is a thing. Apparently some mages sleep for days on end just to get a small bit of magic added to their person. Although there are other people who are born with high concentrations of it or are just like a sponge. I’m not sure where I sit. According to Bea monsters are in a whole other group and that I might not develop any mana until I’m a bit further into my growth. What worries me is thinking that I might expand into something like my kin back in the cave suddenly.
“Pfft. No it’s a tad bit slower than that. Besides for Beasts there are some requirements before you begin to grow”
I had almost forgot about the party link between us for a moment. She shakes her head in response. “I wouldn’t worry too much about just growth happening too quickly. From what I’ve seen it takes at least a few days for tamed creatures and I kinda doubt you’ve... Nevermind”
That doesn’t calm my worries in the least at the end there. Wordlessly I just sigh and rest my head against my paws as I try to just let myself fall asleep. Not much point of me being awake anyway. the road should be pretty clear apparently with me here...
As I nod off to sleep I feel a sensation of ease as...wait...no now it’s odd...everything is Too eased. Opening my eyes I find myself in another expanse of darkness but this time it’s not so cramped. Standing up I find myself looking around curiously Where am I?
My thoughts almost seem to echo around me for a moment before I hear a voice echo back
“...W-w-w-welcome New Soul...”
The voice is rather neutral and seems to echo from all around me.
What is this...Who are you? Is all I can think of trying to ask and waiting for a response does not ease my nerves...
“...This is the palace that is your mind and soul...”
My...Mind and Soul? Huh???
“...This is a place unlike that of your old world...”
The voice calls to me and I can’t even ask a question before it responds
“...As such. This Palace inside of your being is where you may develop your being in this new world...”
Is...this what Bea was talking about? she didn’t mention a spooky ghost voice...
“...Many of this world have the benefit of growing with their parents or guardians to teach them... Your situation is different...”
So that was my parent...Or guardian...?
“...As it were... I shall impart the knowledge that is required to survive to you... This may hurt...”
That makes sense I suppose... Wait what do you mean hurt?
- - - The Next Day - - -
I didn’t think it was possible to pass out while already asleep. But this new world has just proven to me that it is in fact possible.
Out-friggin-standing.
So I have a bit of a feel for this thing I guess. According to that voice I have both the functions of both humans and monsters both physically and magically... So I am literally a toddler with the power to tear down half a town just by myself.
As amusing as that thought is I get the feeling I should try to figure out just what exactly I’m going to do since there’s no takebacksies when I allocate myself... This is why I always preferred those games with pre-made classes. I have Literally infinite choices and No examples to go off of! Such a pain in my ass if you asked me... Oh right... Bea can’t hear me... Ugh...
I think I’m going to just let myself sleep sleep. despite having passed out I’m still mentally tired and I’m pretty sure it’s not been that long right?
Blugh...
I find myself being shaken awake by Bea as I squint at the now morning sun still rising in the sky... Well so much for getting more sleep I guess...
Wiping my face with my paws I can’t help but yawn as I glance around at the now surrounding city. I had somewhat hoped I’d get to see the entrance at least but apparently Bea didn’t think the long entry line was too interesting. Honestly I can’t help but agree. Traffic of any kind never sounds too fun.
As we got further into the city I can’t help but notice the terrified faces of a few people and even a few armored people double taking at me as we passed.
“People are not used to tamed monsters. Let alone a monster like you.” she says stifling a yawn herself “Er...Not that you are a..well.”
Nah I get it. I think I’d be a bit scared if I saw a bear or big cat just on the streets back home...
“Back home...?”
