The hidden criteria she possessed rewarded her for making observations of her prey! It didn’t seem like much, but now knowing the reason as well as the fact that it would commit to its attack only caused a mischievous grin to form.
“Heh. So you can be helpful, HUH VOICE!? Alright then… COME AND GET SKEWERED YOU VAMPIRE BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUG!” She roared on purpose, expelling as much air as she could as she approached the needle.
Her legs felt like they would fall off at any moment now. Her breathing became rash as sweat poured down her cheeks. But her striving to see this hunt through gave her the last bit of energy she needed to throw herself to the side. Her last exhale baited the creature to make its decisive and final lunge.
“Get skewered! Haha! YEAH!” Red laughed, watching as it impaled itself onto one of its own proboscises.

But to her shock, it did not die immediately.
“… 250 is the maximum damage. Is your body all slush inside?” Red heavily breathed.
The Mosquito was secured firmly, so it was not at any risk of escaping. Its pitiful, remaining needles were sucked into its body as they directed the ground one by one, its wings desperately trying to lift itself free from its skewer stick.
Red blood dribbled from its wound. When she caught whiff of it, her eyes immediately turned to daggers as she saw the red strings. They demanded her to cut along where its legs used to reside, for this was the chink in its armor.
It quivered, screaming soundlessly as Red listened to the sloshing sounds of its rupturing innards.

“Can’t feel sorry when you wanted to do that to me. That’s a big needle for me, you know?” She panted, speaking to the creature before she used [Punch].
Her fist bounced right off, and she placed it onto her chin in a pondering manner.
“Your skins really tough and leathery. Hm. I think it’ll look good on someone else. Hold still! I’m going to borrow it now, ok~?”
She dragged her blade against its flesh, the scraping sounds enough to break the mind of this creature.
“It’s only fair that I get to do this, because you wanted to do that to me too. I want to live too, you know? But… Those millipedes probably wanted to live as well.” She tilted her head, placing the tip of her knife into the eye-shaped pore before she slowly began to drag it down, and to her surprise, it cut right through its flesh.

Globs of red and black goop came spilling out, splattering by her ankles.
“It’s an eat or be eaten world, huh? There’s always going to be prey –”
She carved it open like a bag of fluids, causing its innards to finally gush out as its body deflated, hanging only by the same needles it had used to try to kill her.
“– And a hunter.”

“I’d slurp you up with those things, but… I think they’ll be better as weapons!” She struggled to pull one out, wielding the long, thin needle in both hands. “250 ATT! It’s… it’s beautiful!”
She celebrated with the weapon in hand as Rock Bugs scuttled around her, gazing up momentarily before feasting on her catch.
“Wait – HEY! Leave my food alone!” She shouted, raising the weapon, and stabbing one of these critters.
But unfortunately for her…
“W-What… B-But it’s 250 ATT…? I saw it kill them with my own two eyes!” Her spear was deflected into the stone. It did little other than slightly bother the Rock Bug.
… the 250 ATT was not solely because of its proboscis.
Her eyes watered like she was on the verge of tears.
“My food… it’s being stolen by bugs again…” She lamented.
Just because she harvested the most promising piece of a monster did not mean it would possess the same damage potential in her hands. It was like expecting to be able to maul like a bear after taking its claws.
