Chapter 1 - Get Rich Guru: Yu Yin!
Yu Yin, the richest and most powerful man in the mortal world. Infinite is his wealth, and his greatness knows no bounds.
This was how Yu Yin liked to think of himself, and it wasn't like he was wrong anyway. If he said that he was the second greatest mortal in all of the Frigid Enigma Continent, who would dare say they were first?
Those so-called cultivators from the family palace had nothing on Yu Yin. Fools they were! They may act all high and mighty on their own, but around Yu Yin, no chance. Yu Yin could slap them with a fish if he wanted and they'd still act like scared chickens around him. Heck he'd actually done that once! Got him into trouble with the bodyguard assigned to him by his mother but it was worth the look on that arrogant brat's face.
Unfortunately, Yu Yin wasn't in a position to slap cultivators around right now and instead was currently in the northern region of the Frigid Enigma Continent, in a country named Evergreen. The country was known for being a rural area littered with mountains, and on one of these particular mountains stood a small mansion where Yu Yin was sitting at a redwood desk. He was donned in long deep blue robes that looked like they must belong to royalty and he carried an elegant demeanour. Yu Yin looked to be around 16 years old and thought himself as rather handsome. Although Yu Xue said that the scary faces he makes sometimes sometimes were rather ugly, Yu Yin disagreed. Who could possibly be better looking than him?!
Nevertheless, Yu Yin was currently fawning over two animal horns that seemed to come from some kind of mythical creature. The glowing silver horns were about a meter and a half long with the base being seven inches thick. A few gold patterns could be seen snaking across their glossy exteriors and their radiant silver sheens were illuminating the entire room as if demonstrating their magnificence. Yu Yin gazed at the otherworldly horns affectionately.
"Don't worry my darlings, Daddy will find you some more treasure friends by the end of the day"
Yu Yin smiled happily to himself. Now that he possessed these treasures, Yu Yin could even change his bio if he wanted to.
'Yu Yin, the richest and most powerful man in the many immortal worlds. Infinite is his wealth, and his greatness extends further than the universe itself.'
The thought made Yu Yin ecstatic. Surely, nobody could even come close to his level! These horns were Silver Qilin horns and if the rumours were true, treasures more precious than them could be counted on one hand. The legends said that a pill made by the marrow of these horns could multiply a man's talent to an unimaginable level. The horns were also apparently practically indestructible and could cure any disease if used right. Yu Yin didn’t know how to use them right now, but he was sure that he'd figure it out one day.
It really didn't take much effort for Yu Yin to obtain these godly treasures. He just accidentally came across them while searching in his mother's treasury and he couldn't help but take them for a small walk - permanently. As for where his mother got such things from, Yu Yin didn't think about it too much. They were treasures and Yu Yin found them. Now they were his. What more was there to think about?
Finally satisfied from admiring his treasures, Yu Yin examined his surroundings. He had come to this mansion for a reason, so he might as well accomplish his purpose while he was here. He looked across the spacious room as his gaze swept across the wooden desk and the many shelves upon shelves of books. Finally, his gaze rested upon a corner of the room where he found a large portrait of an old man with an oversized goatee.
"Yeah, that should be it."
He stood up and was about to walk towards the portrait when he suddenly heard footsteps and the jangling sound of somebody fumbling with a set of keys.
'Oh for the love of…' Yu Yin cursed under his breath.
The door to the room swung open and an old, scholarly looking man walked lazily into the room, grumbling something under his breath. The gray robes he was wearing were obviously ridiculously expensive to craft, at least to most people, Yu Yin not being one of them. He had long, thin hair which had turned white in the man's age and on his chin he wore an oversized goatee that to Yu Yin looked outright stupid. Yu Yin turned around to look back at the corner of the room. Yup, this was the man depicted in the portrait. The old man stared at Yu Yin with a dumbfounded expression, which the latter responded to with an innocent smile. After a few seconds, the old man suddenly awakened from his stupor and roared at Yu Yin!
"What in the..?! Who in the nine hells are YOU?!! And what the FUCK are you doing in my home?!!"
"Why of course, I'm your long-lost son!" Yu Yin responded without missing a beat. "I'm returning home after a long, hard journey of adventure!"
Hearing Yu Yin's calm, melodramatic, and completely unexpected response, the old man was completely stupefied, not knowing quite what to do! He spoke again.
"I, Bai Chen, do not have any heirs in my family, and I have never once had any! So tell me how exactly, you could be my son?"
"But Father, isn't it obvious?” Yu Yin continued lying through his teeth. “I resemble you so much in every way! We both bear a devilish handsomeness! We both display the aura of a heavenly king! We both have talents that men can only wish to have but not receive! And look, we even both have a full head of white hair!"
"What the hell has my hair colour got to do with it?! Are you mocking my old age?!"
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
"Not at all Father! I would NEVER!"
"Well thank fuck for you then because I was about to punch ya lights out!"
"You would punch your son?! How could you?!
"Listen up brat!" Bai Chen began to crap his knuckles, glaring at Yu Yin with a somewhat intimidating gaze. "I don't know anything about having a son, so ya better leave before things get ugly!"
Yu Yin looked as if he had just been stabbed in the heart. He put a tremendously hurt expression on his face and let a few crocodile tears form in his eyes.
"How is it possible that father doesn't know of me?! Mother said you were a filial man who would definitely recognize me at a glance! This is impossible unless....."
Yu Yin let out a loud gasp and started talking to himself, occasionally shaking his head.
"Unless....No!.....That can't be the case...Maybe...No! He would never.....But still...."
He looked up at Bai Chen with an expression of disgust. Not just any expression of disgust: this ws Yu Yin's judging face. He had spent many hours looking at the mirror to get this expression right. At times people just needed to know their place, and the judging face was one of Yu Yin's ways of putting them there.
"Father, could it be that you…"
Bai Chen covered up Yu Yin's mouth with his hand at a lightning speed before he could say anything more. A grave expression was plastered on his face which quickly changed into one of happiness and joy. A few drops of sweat could be seen rolling down his face.
"Hush, hush, hush! Ah! I suddenly remember now! It's you, my son! Oh how I have longed to see you all these years, waiting for you everyday has been so painful that it seemed like a millennium! Now tell me my son, what's your name?”
"My name is Bai Yu." Yu Yin responded with a happy smile. The implications of Yu Yin's words had proved too much for the old man, and based on his reaction… let's just say Bai Chen had probably been very busy in his youth. He probably thought Yu Yin would ruin his reputation somehow if he handled things wrong. Yu Yin wasn’t about to correct him.
"Bai Yu my good son, you must have had it hard being alone all those years. I, your Father shall go and pour you a cup of tea to help soothe your pain."
After saying this, Bai Chen turned around and headed out of the room. Just as he was about to leave, the radiant sheen of the Silver Qilin horns on the desk caught his eye.
"Say, Bai Yu, what are those curious looking objects you've brought with you?"
Yu Yin gave the Qilin horns an unconcerned look and casually waved him away.
"Oh, they're just a few twigs I picked up on the side of the road."
Hearing this, Bai Chen nearly fell over. On what freaking planet can those things be called twigs?!!! He coughed a few times and quickly left before his new "son" could give him any more of a headache. Yu Yin thought he looked rather pitiful as he hurried out of the room.
‘I should get out of here before he comes back.' Yu Yin thought. As much as tea and biscuits with some random old man seemed appetising, Yu Yin has places to be and things to do.
He stood up from the desk and strapped the two Silver-Qilin horns to holsters on his side. They almost looked like unsheathed swords as they glowed brilliantly, making Yu Yin look even more majestic. He walked over to the huge portrait of Bai Chen and tilted it to the side to reveal a hidden recess in the wall which contained a large chest. For a hidden safe, it really wasn't hidden that well. One look, and Yu Yin had known what it was. His countenance was one of righteousness and benevolence as he mercilessly cleared the chest of any gold coins it had. He snapped his fingers, gathering all the gold coins safely into his glowing white storage ring. Grinning the entire time, he flicked his wrist and proudly walked out of the abode, making sure to avoid Bai Chen, and into the surrounding forest, looking like a victorious warrior returning from battle!
….
Three middle-aged men from a nearby village who were passing by watched him skip out of the mansion and had strange expressions on their faces.
"Who just walked out of Scholar Bai's home?"
"I don't know, he doesn't look familiar at all!"
"Could that guy be a thief?"
It was at this point that Yu Yin noticed the middle-aged men. He waved at them and smiled the most innocent and friendly smile he could muster before quickly turning around in the opposite direction to them. He proceeded to rapidly snap his fingers and then slap his chest, causing his body to begin glowing with a white light. He shot towards the north at a breakneck speed which was hard for the naked eye to even see, leaving a long streak of light along his path! The middle-aged men looked on with expressions of bewilderment, their breaths ragged as they watched him leave. After 15 seconds the one who spoke first started laughing nervously.
"Hahaha, why would an immortal rob someone like Scholar Bai. Brother Li, use your brain more! An immortal stealing from mortals?! What a joke!"
"Haha yeah don't be absurd Brother Li, only a fool would think such things!"
Brother Li stood there in a stupor, seemingly baffled by both the ridicule he was receiving and the shocking event he had just witnessed.
....
Yu Yin made a sigh of relief after fleeing to a far-off location. Little patches of dirt could be seen scattered across his luxurious robes and he was panting, clearly out of breath.
"Why did there have to be passer-bys just as I left? Flip, why is bloodline magic so tiring?!'
He actually wasn't an immortal like those men thought he was, but thanks to his powerful bloodline magic, he sure as hell could act like one! It wasn't that he couldn't deal with those mortals if he wanted to, it was just that it was simply too much effort for little to no benefit. Also, attacking would also be essentially admitting to stealing, which was something that Yu Yin really, absolutely, indubitably did not want to do! Someone as great as him could never be caught stealing. After a short while, Yu Yin finally caught his breath and reflected on his recent exploit. He had found some gold coins lying around. They looked lonely, so he had taken them out for a walk. Such kindness! He looked up to the sky and let out an egotistical laughter.
"Hahahahaha, my intellect is so impressive that it even makes me tremble a little! There will surely be a day where I, Yu Yin shall be known throughout the universe as the Get-Rich Guru! Both men and women will surely travel far across the universe to hear my unparalleled wisdom!"
He flicked his wrist, not even a little ashamed of his monologue, and walked further towards the north towards the very border of the Frigid Enigma Continent. With a devious smile on his face, he proceeded onwards, further and deeper into the gorgeous country of Evergreen. He took an ancient looking bamboo slip from his storage ring and glanced at it before lowering his hand to stroke one of the Silver Qilin horns hanging at his side.
"Rejoice my Darlings, you shan't be alone for long!"
It was finally time for Yu Yin to get back to the main task at hand.
