It was a sunny morning, I woke up fine although it did not feel right. I was not fine last night. What happened? And then it occurred to me
The reason I should be depressed is the math test yesterday. Although it was an easy test I did not perform the way I was supposed to. Even though
Sir Adnan taught me that lecture specifically and I did not get the equations right.
"Why" I asked myself frustrated.
"I answered everything right when Sir was teaching it. Why did I not get it right?"
The reason for my anger was not in the test. But the way I disappointed Sir. It was not the time to dwell on the past though. So I got ready for school,
ate my breakfast, and went to school. A little thought of not going was there but it would ruin my reputation even more.
The wind was going through me giving me the speed I needed to reach there fast. It was 7:15.I was already late as it was but I tried to forget about it.
It was then I reached my school. The school where my brother succeeded and where I should be succeeding. I was not late so I decided to
walk a little slowly. A tap suddenly reached my shoulder.
"Haider," Said the mysterious boy.
I did not look back yet but by the voice, I knew who it was. The person I did not want to meet right now.The person who could be getting a 100% result.
"Mahad," I said.
We shook hands and started walking towards the class, both dodging the topic of the test. Mahad probably forgot about it. I guess that's what happens when
you do the tests nicely in a routine or he thinks that I excelled in it so there's no point asking. Such thoughts were entering my mind as walked through
the corridor. Boys of 7th and 6th grade playing tag.How fun!
We reached the class with only a few minutes remaining. Most of the students were already there with a few exceptions.
The upper right corner of the class was empty, guess no one likes sitting there. The usual 6 students were playing Head-Tail as usual. The bottom was talking
about their game of PUBG. No one was worried about the test.
Well, I sat on my usual chair and unpacked my stuff as the bell rang. The class was talking. 7:32.The Head-Tail game reached its climax as Waris needed 17 scores to win.
I did not care about that 7:35.Anas and Abdul Mujeeb were fighting.
"No one," I thought to myself.
7:40.A Sir just walked by telling us to sit down yet it did not stop the Head-Tail gang.7:42.The common thought appeared in everyone's mind. Maybe Sir Rana Amir is absent.
Although it pleased the students. It did not seem pleasing to me. Out of all the sirs that are free during the first lecture, there is one who wants to take the lecture.
As I thought that, someone hit the door getting the attention of every student. We all looked back and saw a figure walking swiftly and entering the classroom.
Everyone stood up
"Good Morning Sir," said the class
It was Sir Adnan.
He walked to the teacher's dice and stood in front of it. He put the book on the dice and said,
"Sit down."
The shivers went down my spine as the coldness of his voice reached my ears.
He added to that saying,
"I have got the tests for Chapter 5. I already have told you all that some of you do not belong here but this test made me happy
I am happy to see that all of you have done well on this test. But there's one student who has surprised me the most"
Ah, I hate it this feeling of inevitable demise I hate it. For the most part, I should be thinking of what I should say. I will just go with the usual
I was not feeling well. Okay, let's do this. That was my plan.
"All of you clap for"
SHIT
"Abdullah Qaiser."
Without even a single delay everyone started to clap for him.
Huh. Well, I can already sense some eyes glaring at me.
Those feelings were piling up one after another. I wanted to leave.
"Not only did he have all mcqs right, but he did the question that we did not even learn yet," Sir added.
Well, it was only a matter of seconds till he started distributing the tests. I can play a fun game for my demise. Let's see who will make the most
shocked face. Hmmmmm I think I should be the one. I jokingly thought but that game never came as Sir never gave the tests. He told us to open our books
and started the lecture.
"Hm that's weird," I said to myself. This lecture is a golden moment for Sir. Why?
Well Maths lecture ended and Sir was walking away. He glared at me.
Ah, I am not safe after all.
Well, the lectures proceeded normally after that and we got our recess. The break was as usual. Children running around as if it was the end of the world.
The Head-Tail gang was as usual playing Head-Tail. Well, this time they got the persistent Abdullah Qaiser with them trying to play too. I was enjoying myself.
The weather was soft now as if it could rain any second.
"This time I will nail it," I thought to myself. That was the plan to get 101% marks on the next test.
Taha POV
(This time I will do this right. I only need a few more before I can win this cruel game.)
Playing as usual BUT I needed 3 scores to win. I put my hands in the position of the Head-Tail position. Standing parallel to me was Muneeb. We both looked at each other.

For a brief moment, everything seemed slowed down as if nothing was happening. Silence walked around the room.
Did I do it?
I opened my eyes to see the climax.
We lost.
"LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO" Waris said.
"Are you kidding me? Why did you put 3 when you just did that?" Saboor questioned me.
"I wanted to catch him off-guard" I answered.
"Now what?" Abu Bakar angrily said.
Well, this was an important game as the losers had to give a treat to the winners.
"1 Out of 3" I said trying to make a way.
"No way, now get our samosas" Waris replied.
Well, that was the deal. Backing out of it now did seem a little cowardly. We 3 got our cash together.
"120 huh. Saboor gives the rest" I said.
"Dude that's fine of class now go" Saboor replied.
Well, I did make the lowest score so I was the worst in that game.
I started my way out of the class. Walked by the busy corridor that led to the outside and from there I walked down almost no stairs.
I turned right to see that the canteen was closed.
(Shit)
I decided to go to the canteen in the kid's section. I was walking by the teacher's table when I heard my name.
"Taha"
I looked back to see Sir Adnan. He had a few sheets on him. Probably the tests. Did I do wrong? I thought.
"Good job on the test. Can you call Haider for me?" He asked.
"Yes sir" I replied and started going back to the class.
Haider POV
10:25. The break was nearing its end as Taha came to the class empty-handed. He was looking for someone.
Did he drop the cash? I thought to myself. Well, it would certainly be hilarious. He looked at me and came to me.
"Sir Adnan is calling for you" He said that and returned to the canteen.
My heart dropped.
HUH, why is this happening now?
I was angry and got up with my Physics book and made my way towards Sir Adnan. There he was sitting on the sofa. Alone. I came to him and got his attention.
His eyes were horrifying to look at. Anger huh?
"What is the completing square formula" He swifly said.
"UH- It's um" SHIT. I did not practice this.
He stood up came close to my ear and said,
"Meet me on the school's rooftop at 12"
He then dismissed me. Ah, I am done for. I thought I was going to get punished.
Little did I know what hell was awaiting me.
Haider POV
On the school rooftop, there he was standing menacingly. I approached him. "Sir Adnan," I said before he turned around and greeted me with a punch. I fell unconscious. As I woke up I was in the infirmary."Sir Adnan" I called out..
"How long have I been here?" I asked.
"About 3 hours " He replied.
"But how did I get here?"I asked again.
"I took you here" He replied.
"Why Sir?" I asked
"What did you tell everyone?" I asked again.
"They think you had an allergic reaction to something you ate" He replied.
"So why did you punch me?" I asked.
"You will know all the answers soon, but first you must ace the next test." He replied.
"Why?" I asked frustratingly
"There's something I want you to do. If you do not ace the test, consider your time in this school ended".
I came back to the class to pick up my stuff and saw a student still in our class. "You're still here?" I asked. "Yup", the kid said, "where were you?" he added.
"Allergy reaction," I answered, hoping he would not ask any further questions regarding my absence. "What about you, Abu Bakar, why are you still here?" I counter-questioned.
"No reason". He picked up his stuff and went away leaving me with a single message, "You are entering something you can't escape."
Huh, what does that mean? I thought to myself. His attitude seemed off for some reason. Did something happen while I was gone?
I picked up my bag and went, a thought ran through my mind what should I tell the janitors that I was still there for? I can tell them I was sick but then I would look like a child
for some reason, they all ignored me.
5:40 PM, it was a hot evening and the worst part was I had no diary that I could write. I guess the only option is to re-revise the test for Mathematics. Our entire discussion earlier
seemed morbid and then there was that punch as well, the road was mostly full of people who were going back to their homes, tired, and I wondered if I could count myself in it.
I heard someone call out my name, "Haider". Looking over, I saw a figure standing in the shade. I rode my bike over and recognized the familiar face of Asharib.
He asked me if I was okay, mentioning that our teacher had said I had an allergic reaction. I was surprised and confirmed that I was fine. Asharib then shared that it had been a strange day at school, with one teacher not showing up and all the others keeping the students in class for longer than usual.
I asked if there was any specific homework I needed to be aware of, but Asharib didn't mention anything important. He quickly said goodbye and ran off, leaving me with unanswered questions.
The crows and crickets made noise in the background as I rode home, and I couldn't help but wonder why Abu Bakar had asked me where I was earlier. Did he overhear my conversation with Sir Adnan? It didn't seem likely, as Asharib had said that the teachers had kept everyone in class.
Lost in thought, I received a message from an unknown number.
