Misty Mountain Palace
prologue 1- the awakening

prologue 1- the awakening

Silence reigned over the land as the light of the moon pierced through the murky and dense clouds. The beautiful light fell upon a luxurious and grand palace.

The palace sat on top of a huge majestic mountain covered in a beautiful hazy mist. The further one went down the mountain the denser and more beautiful the mist got, the higher one went the sparser.

The palace was cyan in color with a transparent jade like substance covering its outer walls. The longer one looked upon the palace the more entranced one felt. This was because the palace seemed as if it were carved and sculpted directly from the huge misty mountain. There were many rooms inside the palace all decorated luxuriously with jewels and precious metals of all color and sizes.

The only thing one could think of when gazing at the entirety of this beautiful mountain palace both inside and out was …. Perfection!!! Only this word came even close to describing this structure. However it was impossible to ignore the obvious. It was very silent here, too silent!

The odd silence creepily contrasted with the beautiful scenery as if there was something not quite right, something missing.

Deep below the palace, past the twisting stairs and strange statues was a dungeon. The walls were covered with strange markings and sketches. The markings covered every corner, and every inch of space. The markings were very strange, every once in a while there would shift and move as if they were creatures crawling.

There were a handful of rooms in this dungeon but on one of the doors to a certain room the markings and seals were a hundred times more concentrated than anywhere else in the dungeon.

Inside the room was absolute darkness, not a shred of light was capable of penetrating this darkness.

Suddenly…. the sound of chains echoed inside the room, the sound of movement got more and more intense until a voice was heard.

“ wh.. what’s this” the voice was horse and archaic as if it was echoing out from eons in the past. From the time of ancient beings and Immortals of legends. From the time before the formation of the infinite worlds and birthing of countless life forms. The voice belonged to the lone figure inside the room. The figure slowly opened its eyes as if awakening from an endless sleep for the very first time. The moment the figures eyes completely snapped open there were drastic changes on the outside of the palace. In the skies….

“Crackle Crackle… Tsst tsstt”

“krakoom” ….“ Boom”

The clouds churned and the beautiful mist seethed. In the skies numerous lightning bolts could be seen forming. The lightning flashed continuously, the loud sound of thunder resonated in all directions to be heard by all living beings under the heavens. The lightning began twisting and moving, slowly connecting to one another to shockingly form, thousands of chains, lightning chains.

The chains appeared to be covering the mountain palace as if to bind the palace itself.

It was at this time that out of thin air a figure appeared. The figure floated over the dazzling palace its eyes seemingly able to pierce directly through it to see everything inside. The figure was tall and thin, he had thick white eyebrows and a long white beard to match. His short gray hair falling over his eyes moved to and fro in the air. His pale skin made him seem old and worn out as if he had been alive for much too long, Even still he posed a charming appearance and handsome facial features. One could tell this man was incredibly handsome in his youth.

The man’s over sized white robe flailed helplessly around him. It was clear that his robes were much too large for him. After staring at the palace for a while he sighed.

“You have.. finally…. Awakened” the man said wearily. And aura of exhaustion covered his entire being as he stood there silently in the air, he closed his eyes.

“Many are those who wish for you to continue sleeping, for you to sleep… For an eternity” he opened his eyes to look upon the mountain palace. “But… in this boundless world, among the countless planes and cosmos, is there really such a thing.” The man wore a melancholic look as he looked upon the palace. “ even those of us who call ourselves deity’s, who claim to be the ultimate law throughout all the heavens… are we eternal?” he sighed as a look of deep contemplation covered his face. “We live countless years pursuing ultimate power, chasing the peak of all things only to realize… that the countless years we lived were nothing but grains of sand on the shore of life washed away by the sea of eternity.”

After thinking for a while the man seemed to have made his decision. He waved his right hand and suddenly a spear appeared. The spear was over three meters long with a silver radiance surrounding it. Strange markings covered the entire body of the spear, mixed with the silver radiance it definitely gave off the feeling of being a sacred and holy object. The man then looked to the sky to watch the chain of lightning closing in on the mountain palace about to surround it.

He then tightened his grip on the silver spear and poured his divine energy into it. Immediately the spear gave of an even more frightening and dazzling radiance. Then he pulled his arm back aimed then launched the dazzling spear. “wheww” the spear pierced through the air producing a loud screeching noise along the way. Everywhere the spear went the surrounding space collapsed.

Then, “ Boooom” the spear collided with the lightning chains causing the sound of the collision to resound like thunder in the surroundings. Afterwards the chains and the spear both paused in their movements as they continued to clash.

The instant the white eye browed man launched the spear he disappeared from the space in the air with a “whoosh”.

Deep below the mountain palace a figure clad in an overly large white robe appeared. He looked around at the spiraling stairways and the giant statues made out of precious ores and metals. The statues were all over the surrounding area. Some appeared on the twisting stairs but there were some that were incomparably huge that stuck out of the walls. He furrowed his brows as he looked deeper below. ‘It seems this is as far as teleportation can take me’ he thought.

He took a deep breath and immediately began moving. He flew straight downwards with such blinding speed that the naked eye would be unable to catch even a glimpse of his shadow.

He flew for several minutes before a deep booming voice rang out. “Halt intruder”

The white eye browed man remained unmoved and even further increased his speed seemingly ignorant of the voice.

Suddenly from the one of the walls a giant fist flew out like a missile heading straight for the speeding man. Contrary to expectation, instead of dodging the giant fist the man instead stretched out his left hand as if welcoming the attack

“Palm of the rising sun” the instant the words left his mouth his palm began to shine with a bright golden glow, it seemed his palm had turned into a sun. Even before making contact with the man’s palm the giant’s fist began to melt. By the time it reached the man only parts of the fingers and wrist were left.

“boom” The two hands clashed. The instant they meet the giant exploded into countless pieces generating shockwaves that pushed the man backwards. Dirt and debris floated in the air obscuring the image of the white eye browed man.

Finally after the dust settled a tall and thin figure appeared he looked at his trembling hand and revealed a troubled look. Before he could even continue on his way he suddenly felt a huge pressure weighing down on him. He could hear the sounds of constant impact coming from all around. An intense rumbling could be felt that caused him to be extremely weary.

It didn’t take long for him to discover the source of the rumbling.
