As the sun rose, it beams piercing the dark, the bloody battlefield below her was revealed. She watched the scene—arrows fire balls and lightning bolts streaking by—a small tear forming or the edge of her eye. She clenched her fist, whipped her eye, and turned from the scene. We must win, for the sake of the kingdom, and all that live within, we must triumph…
She crouched down, shifting into the shade of the mountain. She crept slowly toward the enemy camp, foot steps silent as the wind. Her stealy eyes popped up from a bush overlooking the camp. The walls were a construction of earth and plants finely weaved to provide an impenetrable bulwark… from direct assault.
Slowly but surly, she breached the camp. Hiding between tents and in stock piles, she made her way the the commanders tent. Her head popped out from behind a tent, the commanders tent ahead. She snuck in, creeping towards the tent. Standing above his bed, she breathed in deep. For the sake of all, I must! Forgive me…
The blade fell down fast, sliping silently through the cloth, then the skin, and finally the commanders heart. His eyes shot open, and his head rose. Clarity came to his eye instantly, first focusing on the knife, then jumping to hers, blades dancing within.
“This… is not… the end…” he managed between haggard breaths.
Then, with a deep inhale, his eyes still staring into her soul—freezing her to the spot—he screamed.
She lifted the knife, stabbing it into his throat to scilence him, but the damage had already been done. Swords perceived the canvas of the tend, cutting holes for men to enter. Calls spread through the camp, organizing the soldiers.

She knew what she needed to do, she could only lament her position. She let her mind drift as she connected with nature. The calls of men, the brandishing of swords, and the impacts of spells, all began to dim before her as she strengthened her resonance.
Her eyes opened, lightning crackling within, as she entered a fighting stance. The first man entered, sword bared, only to be met with a bolt to the face. Two more entered, only to meet the same fate. Suddenly, a blaze overtook the canvas as a hole was burned into its side.
She stomped the ground, a shockwave spreading out five steps in any direction. The wooden stakes of the tent bent, the structure failing, as she lept up, her blade in front her. She shot out of the tent, landing among the men, blades bared in each of her hands.
Before any of them could even move, she struck, the crackle of thunder heralding her movement. One man fell, bleeding out, as three others crumbled, smoke rising from their clothes. The remaining me thrust out, each blade met with a swift tap, barely shifting their movement to avoid her.

Again she lashed out, two men falling to her blade, and another two to her lightning. Between lightning and a blade, she carved her way through the enemy ranks. As the sun rose above the mountain, only her side's flag remained, and she was forced to stand tall, holding in her resentment of the hand she was dealt.

As the book slammed shut, I couldn’t help but sigh. I wish I could be brave like her… move past my feelings and take action… and not live in fear. One can only dream. I stood, straitening out my hoodie, as I put the book aside. Looking across the room to the mirror, a frown crossed my face as my ratty brown hair snuck out from the confines of my grey hoodie. I broke eye contact with my piercing green eyes, shifting my gaze out the window.
The nearly full moon sat prominently in the sky, shining a soft light onto the woods below. After a moment, I turned, collected my running shoes, and set off into the night.
