Year 736
Two years ago, I wondered what it meant to be a hero. Today, I understand that I do not fit that identity at all. Being a hero means acting for the good of the world out of altruism, being ready to make sacrifices to save the greatest number.
I cannot be a hero because, for me, not all lives have the same value. If I had to choose between saving someone very dear to me and the rest of humanity, I would be capable of being the world's executioner, just to ensure that person's survival. In truth, the very reason for my journey, my sacrifices, and my suffering is tied to my determination to protect the most important person to me.
