Chapter 28 - Relationships

After unsummoning Sera’s companion, the three of them found themselves walking back along the streets of Gladesdale watching as the same unique buzz they saw when they had first arrived, still ever present. Just as always, the city and its people were busy going around with their lives.

It was mid day and the heat of the sun glazed the land, which included Gladesdale, but thankfully there were enough buildings and a few trees around to provide shade for anyone in need. Bo could see some younger kids— not very common in Gladesdale— walking around with a few cold treats their parents had bought them.

They could finally let their guards down and relax after that last stressful stretch in the lost maze. The one thing they were all looking forward to… was bathing. That's why their first destination was the Might Mansion.

After weaving through familiar streets, they arrived at the front doors of the Might mansion and were let in by Robert once again.

A smile crept up on the old butler's face and he welcomed them in with a cozy voice, “Welcome home Lady Sera, Lady Iris and Mister Bo.”

“Robert!” Sera hugged him, staining his suit with a little bit of leftover dirt and grime from their travels.

“Yes I missed you too.” He gently returned the hug.

Seeing the other two watching them while waiting, Robert cleared his throat and turned Sera around to face her friends. “I think you have all been looking forward to the baths once again?” He saw them all nod like children.

“Good. Then head down into the bath and wash up.” Robert pulled out a handkerchief and wiped some dirt off Sera’s face much to her displeasure. “You better hurry before I clean you myself.”

“Okay okay stop rubbing my face!” Sera gently swatted his hand away. “Is Mother here?”

“Not currently, she might be arriving tonight but she’s been quite busy with some new work.” Robert answered.

With that, the three broke out into a brisk walk down into their old temporary home, the basement. The bath doors were right in front of them but before Bo could walk Into the men’s bath, he was grabbed by Sera.

“Hm? What’s up?” Bo looked at Sera with a questioning gaze.

“We’ve bathed plenty of times together in that month in the lost maze, don’t tell me you care about these signs?” Sera didn’t even wait for him to respond and dragged both of them into the woman’s bath.

“We didn’t really have a choice back then, plus what if there’s other people in here.” Bo defended himself.

“Ah excuses, you saying you don’t wanna bathe with two smoking hot babes?” Sera smirked at him. “We’ve all seen each other naked, taking shits, or even worse. Don’t worry about the small things.”

What Sera was saying was all true. When you lived with others out in the wilderness where danger lurked in every corner, you didn't have the luxury of privacy. There was no safety for you to go off and shit by yourself, they had to stick together in case something happened.

And then when Iris was injured, they had to nurse her bloody chest and shoulder for a while before she could do it herself. So in all honesty, they’d seen everything and even more.

Sera didn’t beat around the bushes and stripped down into her birthday suit before exiting the changing room into the main bathing room. Iris and Bo looked at each other before they blushed awkwardly.

It… felt a little different now. Was it because of last night which they spent together, maybe solidifying their feelings they might have had for each other?

They didn’t know, and they were also both shy and not sure how to proceed with one another. Locking eyes one more time, they mutually nodded to each other and followed after Sera by stripping.

They didn’t turn away from one another and their faces only got more red as less articles of clothing were left on their bodies. Eventually they stood in front of each other naked and embarrassed— but they didn’t cover up since they were quite used to it.

Bo looked up and down her body seeing the dozens of scars covering her and swore to himself he’d try his best to never let another scar reach her skin again.

Iris covered her body, not her privates, but instead she covered her scars, now more nervous at what Bo would think of them. Seeing Iris look this way, Bo grabbed her hand and smiled at her.

“What are you guys waiting for, get in here already!” Sera’s voice breached past the change room door and into their ears.

They smiled hearing her impatient cries and walked into the main bathing room together holding hands. Cleaning off the dirt In the shower quickly, they then slinked into the hot waters of the bath next to each other, and closed their eyes feeling the warmth soothe their exhausted bodies.

Bo’s eyes kept darting to Iris subconsciously which he would then move manually away from her, so he didn’t keep staring at her. Iris did the same and whenever they looked at each other at the same time, they would look down shyly.

“Ah this is the best!” Sera sauntered over to them, not afraid to expose her nude body to the others here. “You guys are like shoulder to shoulder, let me join in!”

Sera sat down next to Bo and wrapped her arms around his neck, her breasts pressing right against his shoulders. After which she smirked at him and asked bluntly, “So what's up with you two, you like each other or something?”

Bo's eyes widened and he flinched, not expecting for someone to talk about his newfound emotions so soon. He looked at Iris who had a similar reaction which only made Sera smirk grow even more.

“So you guys do like each other then huh?” Sera stated.

The two turned towards each other and without saying anything, they both knew the answer was yes. Bo nodded faintly to her question.

“...Just don't forget about me okay?” Sera said jokingly then got up and stretched her arms above her head with her back turned to the two of them. “We're a team now and I'm expecting to still be a team for the foreseeable future, alright?.”

They both nodded to her. While Bo and Iris have not had a chance to truly talk about their feelings yet, Sera was and will always be their partner, close friend and an important person to them.

Even Bo seeing Sera’s fully exposed naked body didn't make Iris jealous or make Bo feel awkward, they had a close enough relationship that these things didn't matter to them. They had been through life and death together, a little skinship and the like was nothing.

“Seeing that you two have just… well accepted one another, i'll leave you two alone so you can talk it out together.” Sera began to walk to the other side of the bath but was surprised when she felt Iris hug her from behind.

“No.” She turned Sera around. “You're just as important to me as Bo is, and if we have something to discuss, like our future r-r-relationship together then you should be there as well.”

Sera smiled and patted her on the head. “That makes me happy, thank you, but I think I'll still give you some alone time. If you wanna come talk about it with me afterwards, then come do so anytime.”

Iris paused for a moment before hugging Sera once again. Sera closed her eyes and reciprocated the hug by wrapping her arms around Iris’s scarred body.

“Oh hey I have an idea, if you want to, I can get Robert to go purchase some healing potions to heal your scars.” Sera rubbed the large scar that ran down Iris’s shoulder. “This one might take a more expensive potion but Robert might be able to find one, or maybe my mom has something that can help.”

“Actually, I wanna leave this big scar as is, the smaller ones I'd appreciate if they were gone but not this one.” Iris rubbed her own scar. “It's a memory that— while mostly bad— still matters to me.”

Iris turned to face Bo with a shy face. “W-what do you think?”

“Anything you do is fine with me. I don't mind the scars… you're still b-beautiful with them, just so you know.” Bo stammered out the last bit in a whisper.

“See, I dont wanna listen to this lovey-dovey talk just yet!” Sera pointed out. “Once you two sort out everything, come find me in our room.”

Everyone paused for a moment before laughing together. After Sera finished laughing, she bade the two farewells and walked out the bathroom. In the distance they could hear Robert’s faint voice telling Sera to put on some clothes, it seems she had walked out into the hall naked since they hadn't had clean clothes yet.

Iris and Bo once again laughed. They couldn't help but love Sera, not as lovers, but something just as important. She was eccentric, a little pushy, but also kind and brave. There was no one else they would want more than Sera.

After finishing giggling at Sera in the distance, the two then sat next to each other in silence at first, not sure where to begin or how they wanted to do this.

“So. “ “So.” They both turned to each other at the same time. After a bout of deciding who should speak first, it fell upon Bo to speak his mind.

“I… Well, at first I didn't understand most of the emotions I was feeling. Not just love, but any emotions.” Bo gulped. “But over the last few months, I've come to understand most of them.”

“Love… is hard to explain, but I'm pretty sure that's what I feel whenever I look at you.” Bo explained. “I know I haven't told you everything about myself since— well there's things I don't even understand— but I know that whatever the case might be, these feelings for you are real.”

Iris listened seriously— of course with a blush the entire time.

“I also, l-l-love you.” Iris stammered out after Bo was done. “Maybe we're both kinda inexperienced with the ways of relationships or understanding our feelings but… I… would you… date me?”

Bo smiled with a nod. “Of course.”

Then the two continued to sit in silence. The ‘talk’, while short, was sweet and to the point.

The problem was… “What are we supposed to do now?” Bo asked. He knew how relationships functioned, two people became close and intimate partners, but like how exactly do you go about doing that?

Iris giggled and stood up. “I'm not sure but we can figure it out together right?” She grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the bath.

Bo’s face wore a happy smile and he let himself be dragged across the bath towards the changing room. “Mm!” He nodded to her.

However long it took, they would figure this out together.

Quickly changing into clean clothes that Robert seemed to have dropped off right after Sera left, Bo and Iris made their way to the old room they lived in for a week. On the dinner table was a lunch that Robert seemed to have prepared, and of course Sera was sitting there eating said food.

“Oh welcome back, that was quick!” Sera said with a mouthful. “Are you sure you got your feelings across?”

They both nodded to her, getting a cheeky grin in return. “This is great and all, but now I'm the odd goose out.”

Without hesitation, Bo and Iris hugged her.

“We already told you, you're just as important to us okay?” Bo ‘warned’ her.

“Ya ya.” She swatted them away and whispered with a gleeful smile. “Thanks.”
