I woke up with a huge smile on my face.
This is the very first time since I got here that I got a good night sleep.
I head outside to see how much charcoal the furnace made. It takes 2 pieces of wood to smelt one ore but I don't know if it's same with burning wood into charcoal.
I put my hand into the furnace to see how many charcoals are there.
There are 6 charcoals.
It seems that all the wood I placed in the furnace turn into charcoal.
There is also no fuel left so it's probably safe to assume that it takes 1 wood to convert a single charcoal. There is also a possibility that the furnace keeps using up the fuel even though there is nothing left to smelt, cook or burn. I should try and light up the furnace with nothing to smelt to see if it uses fuel.
I put the broken axes in the fuel of the furnace and take out my flint and steel to light it up. I don't have a single wood in me so I tried using broken tools. This way I can also find out if broken wooden tools can be used as a fuel.
After striking the flint and steel together in the furnace, it suddenly lights up even though I didn't put anything to smelt or cook.
I don't know if this is good or not to be able to use the furnace like this.
I can't just put loads of fuel in the furnace if I'm only going to smelt a small number of ores. I have to do some calculations to see how much fuel is needed for the item to smelt or cook.
But it has some perks too.
I can use the furnace for source of heat during cold days or nights. I don't know if biomes exist in this world or it's just one huge oak forest but if it did exist, it will be useful in the winter regions. There is also a possibility that this world might have 4 seasons.
I crafted 16 torches using 4 charcoal and 4 sticks. Thankfully I still have left over planks in my inventory to turn into sticks.
This is probably enough to light up the mine shaft. I should place torches in support beam of the tunnel like in the game. I save up the other 2 charcoals just in case I find more ores during mining and needed to smelt them.
I left the furnace house and head to the farm to check on the crops and the animals.
The wheat crops are already one block tall but they still green in color so it probably needs a couple more days to be able to farm them.
Luckily, the chickens still lay eggs today. I managed to collect 2 eggs. It seems one of them is really a rooster. That guy will definitely be cooked today. Maybe after mining in the mine shaft, I could cook the chicken for supper.
I now have a total of 4 eggs in my inventory. I could try and cook these eggs in the furnace but I should first think of a way to increase the population of chickens so I should just save it for now.
I should also start remodeling the chicken coop. Make it bigger so it can accommodate more chickens but mining is my priority today so maybe I can do it tomorrow.
The sheep however, didn't grow their wool. It seems it takes a while for their wool to grow back. In the game, they only need to eat one grass to grow back their wool in an instant. I hope it doesn't take weeks or months for them to grow back their wool.
Well, at least they are healthy and seems to be eating the grass I put yesterday.
I should also think of a way to increase the sheep's population.
I know having lots of animals in the future will be troublesome to take care of them but I really need another source of food and other materials.
After tending the animals, I head towards the mine shaft but realize that I don't have any wood to use as a support beam for the tunnel.
I quickly chop down some trees to gather enough wood to use for the mine shaft.
It is getting really spacious around here for constantly chopping trees every day. All the oak saplings that I replant didn't grow into a tree yet. It will probably take months for them to grow or even a year.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
After gathering enough wood, I crafted all of them into planks and also crafted some fences.
I head to the mine shaft to finally do some mining.
My plan is to gather as much stone as possible and also try to find some iron or coal.
I want to upgrade my house. My home is so cramped inside. I also need to build it entirely out of stones. I don't want my house get burned down after getting hit by a lightning strike. I don't know how lucky I am if that really happen but considering I managed to get here to this world without any reason whatsoever so anything is possible. Better be prepared for anything.
I don't know how big I'm going to build my house. I just have to work with the materials that I got.
I remember the days when I was playing Minecraft with the next-door kid.
He enjoyed building stuff but was too lazy to gather the materials for it. I suggested that we play in Creative mode but he just said 'Where is the fun in that?' so I ended up as a gatherer for him.
But I'm the only one here so I just have to gather the materials and build stuff by myself.
When I get to the entrance of the mine shaft, I take out one of the torches in my inventory.
I'm not even surprised that it doesn't automatically lit up after placing it.
I placed the torch on the ground and lit it up using flint and steel.
After lighting up the torch, I grab it and head inside the mine shaft.
I assume that torches in this world is not a permanent light source and will probably be burnt out after a while. I need to find a better light source.
I could try building a portal in the future and head to the nether world to gather some glowstone or kill a blaze to get a blaze rod and head into the End dimension to harvest chorus fruits to craft some end rods.
However, I don't have any obsidian to build a portal. I don't even have a diamond pickax to gather the obsidian or a lava source I can pour water to turn into obsidian. I also don't know if End portals exist here so I just have to make do with torches for now. I know there are other things I can use as a light source but glowstones and end rods are relatively simple to gather or craft in the game. Though I don't know if it is similar here in this world.
I went past the entrance of the mine shaft and suddenly stop.
I can hear something moving inside the tunnel.
I lift up the torch to light up what in front of me and was surprised to see someone.
I didn't have time to see who or what it was because it started to swing something at me.
I managed to block the attack using the torch but I still got hit in the left shoulder.
"Aah!" I screamed loudly.
I don't know how I still got hurt even after blocking the attack but I can clearly see now my assailant.
It's a zombie with a stone hoe.
That's why I still got hit even though I blocked the attack. I only blocked the handle of the hoe but the curve stone on top managed to hit me.
The zombie's hoe buries deep in my left shoulder. It really hurts and I'm starting to bleed.
I kicked the zombie in the mid-region out of reflex and managed to fall him to the ground. I screamed loudly once again when the hoe was ripped out in my shoulder.
I drop the torch I was holding and immediately equip a stone sword.
I can only use my right hand since my left hand is hurt.
The zombie is trying to get back on his feet.
I thrust my sword forward with everything I got right before the zombie got up.
The zombie didn't have time to block or dodge or its just didn't care.
My sword went through zombie's chest and it stops moving.
I push the zombie forward and let go of my sword that still stuck in the zombie's chest. It went down flat on the ground.
My knees suddenly gave up and I fall down on my butt.
Blood is dripping in my left shoulder but I didn't care.
I am still shocked and was still processing what happened.
After a while, I stood up and picked up the torch that I drop and slowly approach the body.
I don't know if it still alive but it stopped moving so it's probably dead.
I moved the torch over the body to have a clear look.
It looks like a normal person like me but the color of its skin is green. It is wearing a brown shirt and a brown pants. It also has shoes on. The eyes are still wide open and its color is black. It is definitely a zombie.
The stone hoe is still in its hand.
I kicked away the stone hoe it's holding just in case it starts moving again.
When you kill a hostile mob in the game, it will disappear and drop an item. I don't know why it is still here but it is definitely dead. It has a stone sword stuck in its chest.
I remembered that I'm bleeding hard and have to take care of the wound.
I opened my inventory to see what I can use to cover up the wound.
There is only wood, charcoal, stones and tools in here. I also got single wool.
I tried putting the wool in the crafting grid to see if I can craft something with a single wool. There are 2 carpets in the output slot. It seems that I can craft carpets here with using only one wool.
I turn the wool into carpets and grab one in my inventory. It is really big so I rip it into two to use as a bandage.
I remembered my first-aid training in my company I was working on. I carefully covered the wound with the makeshift bandage to stop the bleeding.
After taking care of my wound, I opened my status to see how many hearts I still have left in my health bar.
I still have 6 hearts left so I received 4 hearts of damage. The zombie probably dealt only two or three hearts of damage and my health only went down to 6 because I didn't take care of my wound early.
I tried eating some apples to see if it will increase my health but nothing happened.
There is also something else besides my Name.
1 (1 up) 25%
This is probably my level since I killed a hostile mob and gained experience points. I didn't see any glowing orbs though after killing the zombie. It seems that you automatically gained experience here. The percentage is probably my progress towards next level. It looks like you gain a lot more experience killing a zombie than in the game.
There also something different with the status. It usually says healthy but now it says 'Damage: Left shoulder'. Great. Thanks, status, for letting me know I got hurt on my left shoulder as if it is not already obvious.
I closed the status and stared at the zombie.
I know in the future that I might have to fight some monsters but I didn't expect it to be today.
God dammit. I didn't expect my day to go like this.
