CHAPTER 6056
Charlie hastily asked, "You must have read the Preface of the Apocalyptic Book, right? What exactly does it say?"
Raymond replied, "The content recorded in the book is all-encompassing, but its real core is a map that needs to be deciphered from the text bit by bit. Back then, your parents were very interested in studying and deciphering the Preface. Thanks to your father, I studied it briefly too, but I wasn't good at the Oskian language because I was born and raised in the States. The content was too difficult and obscure for me to understand, and I soon lost interest in studying it."
"After that, your parents left the States and returned to Oskia. I heard that they went to great lengths to search for the place mentioned in the book. Thankfully, they found the place after going through so much hardship. That place was where your father took the Apocalyptic Book."
"Really?" Charlie gasped, astonished. "What's the place's name? Is it called the Longevity Haven?"
"I don't know." Raymond shook his head. "Your father didn't tell me the details. He just told me that it would be better if I didn't know too much about these things. I think it must have been for my own good, so I didn't push him to tell me."
"Do you still have the contents of the Preface of the Apocalyptic Book?" asked Charlie.
Raymond hesitated for a moment and answered earnestly, "Your father gave me a copy of his handwritten version of the book. I kept the copy even though I didn't study it."
"Wonderful!" Charlie cheered excitedly. "I wanted to study the book so badly, but I didn't know where to find it. Since you have a copy, maybe I can study it and find some clues."
Raymond pursed his lips and cautioned, "However, when your father gave me the Yuhuchun vase containing the Apocalyptic Book, he told me that getting the Preface brought nothing but disaster for him and your mother as well as a combination of blessing and curse for you. He regretted studying the book very much and wished that he had never received the book and had not studied the contents...Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
"So, are you sure you want to read the book?"
With a self-deprecating chuckle, Charlle affirmed, "My father regretted it because he didn't choose this life. He could have lived a peaceful life, but because of this book, he was dragged into the game and became a part of it."
"He had a choice back then, but I didn't!
"When I was born, or should I say, when my father gave me his fate when I was eight, I was already a part of the game."
"I have no power to choose whether to enter the game or even whether to receive the Apocalyptic Book. My father decided for me, and he must have been forced to do so. He knew that I was born in this game, and the only thing I could do was to survive in the game as long as possible."
"Things have come to this point today. Do you think that I will hesitate to read the Preface of the Apocalyptic Book?" @
