Liang Zeming stood at the edge of the cliff, and he looked deathly afraid. He had wounds all over his body, and he faced a stronger, taller man. A cultivator.
I sighed when the notification appeared before my eyes, invisible to everyone else.
[Save the young man, Liang Zeming, from his death. 100 Fate Points and unlock Liang Zeming as your focus]
Liang Zeming struggled against the stronger cultivator. I moved a little closer, my body the form of a small rat. The cultivator lifted him up with one arm, and Zeming dangled over the cliff, his legs flailing.
“Stop. Please.” He begged. “Why do you do this?”
“Now you know how to say please, eh?” The cultivator laughed. “This is what you get for trying to raise your sword against your betters. Remember your place, peasant. Oh wait, I’ll be killing you now, so that’s too bad.”
“Please... don’t.” He begged, and at that brief moment, our eyes met.
But right before the cultivator could throw Zeming off the cliff, I bit the cultivator right around the ankles with my two rat teeth. He shouted and his grip abruptly loosened, which sent Zeming falling down the cliffs. I was pretty sure he went down along the cliff itself.. But at least he wasn’t flung directly to the middle of the cliff. That would be a death sentence.
By some guidely magic, I knew that Zeming would survive, and I somehow knew he managed to grab hold to the sides of the cliff, and cushioned his fall.
“Oh well.” He didn’t seem bothered that Zeming fell. Instead, his eyes shifted and then he kicked me into the cliff too. But that’s no big deal.
He attempted to look down into the cliff, but he couldn’t see Zeming’s body. He shrugged and walked off, at that moment he concluded that the man was probably dead anyway.
Well, that’s his mistake. He clearly does not know the tropes well. Zeming isn’t just a regular mortal. He already started on his cultivation journey, so already his body is slighter tougher than most.
I saw my point-bank increase.
[+100 Fate Points]
As expected, there’s no way a main character would die so easily.
Oh well, my rat body slammed into the cliff walls, and rolled down. But I’m not really a rat, I just take the form of one. The pain was well, painful, but a little shake here, a little shake there and I’m fine again. I shrugged off the pain and damage from the kick and the fall like it was nothing. Ah, the joys of a body of undeath.

I looked around for my prey. Ah! I saw him!
Zeming was injured and bleeding, but not dead.
“How are you, young man?” I asked, my rat body scurried next to him,
His eyes went wide, although he was in pain. “Oh mister rat, you saved my life!”
Well, I know that. “I’m asking how are you?”
“Oh. Uh... I’m in pain and I am injured. I think one of my bones is broken.” Yeah. No shit.
“Well then, you must heal. Then we’ll get out.”
“Uh... how? I can’t even walk.”
“You will cultivate a healing technique.”

Hi, my name’s Jerry Anderson. At least, that was my name until I died in an accident then I met the God of Fates. Then, I became Jun Yu, a Spirit of the Fates. That sounds grand and all, but if I were to summarise the role of a Spirit of Fate, we are really Spirits of Tropes, Archetypes and Plot Devices.
We move the plot forward, and we make branches in it. We aid the main character, by meddling with the luck, probabilities, and change the directions of the plot. We ‘create’ supporting characters, villains, challenges and opportunities with our Fate Points. In some ways, we are kinda like fairies or angels too, but I’m a dude so I refuse to be referred to as a fairy or an angel because it ain’t cool.
It’s pretty much like being the director of a film. I think. Or maybe a script writer of a xianxia film. That’s really a one-paragraph summary of my role. If I ever meet someone who wants an explanation, that’ll be my elevator pitch.
My goal’s really simple. The God of Fates told me that if I want to enjoy a typical isekai life as a reincarnated man with a lot of superpowers and a gorgeous harem, I’ll have to earn it. So, before I get to enjoy that kind of life, I have to earn [Achievement Points], or AP for short.
This entire system was really quite simple.
I have [Fate Points], or FP, which I use to meddle with the fates of my focus or subject. Fate points are used to purchase skills from the Fate-Market, items, and a whole load of other stuff. I haven’t fully explored it, but almost everything could be bought with fate points. I can also enhance my own ‘guide’ powers with fate points.
[Sect Points], or SP which I use to meddle with the Sects, create good encounter and chances for the Sect, improve the Sect’s standing so that the MC gets better opportunities etc. Some points need a combination of FP and SP, like marriage candidates with another Sect. If I’m not mistaken the Sect Points is the ‘Strategy’ stage of the story, when the main characters get attached with a sect.
Then, there’s Achievement points AP. AP is entirely for me. Mainly for me to earn enough points to earn merit to live my dream isekai life when I finally decided I had enough, but I can also use those points to give myself more powers. Powers that ‘stick’ with me.
Yes, although I do cringe at how corny and silly all those isekai fantasies are, but I know deep down I am a piece of absolute weeb trash that enjoys harems and overpowered isekai shenanigans, and I’m not afraid to embrace it. At the very least, this God of Fates, whatever his name of the week is, has agreed to let me choose the kind of life I lead, in exchange for a certain number of APs.
Earn my way to my harem life. Sounds good to me.
