Before the death of Gol D. Roger, he announced to the entire world about the existance of "One Piece".

When he was approaching his final moments, he uttered a single line; "Come to Raftel, and all shall be revealed". It lit a fire in the hearts of man; whether it be pirates, marines, even the world government.

Five years later, in the corners of East Blue, there was a small village called Drought Spiral; a barren, desolated area, most famous for being dubbed as God's forsaken village. The survival rate in Drought spiral is so low that the inhabitants are having second thoughts in producing offspring.

The reason for the village's high mortality rate was not due to harsh weather conditions or that plants and wild life didn't thrive, on the contrary. There's an abundance of food and wild game in the vicinity.

The reason for their high mortality rate is due to the constant pillaging and destruction brought forth by pirates.

The citizens of drought spiral aren't fighters, they're just simple farms men and women. They either follow the will and demands of the pirates or die immediately by their hands. And they aren't insane enough to choose the latter.

Among the citizens of Drought Spiral, there's a young boy named Dante who is a tall, well-built kid with grey hair. It is hard to believe that despite his constitution he's only 17 years old. Although there's the constant destruction and blood shed he witnessed growing up, Dante grew up in a loving and caring family.

Dante always works hard to provide for his family. He plows the fields, harvests fruits and hunts some game. His father was the one who used to do all these things, but due to old age, his body isn't as agile as before and he is constantly suffering from certain ailments from time to time.

A boy with similar constitution bundled with long black wavy hair accompanies Dante everyday in order to provide for their village and their families. The boy's name was August. He and Dante were friends since they were little. Unlike Dante, August was the only child and his mother died after giving birth to him. 

One fateful night, when everyone was busy preparing for dinner, a pirate ship docked on their shore and almost fifty men came rushing out.

Accompanied by their captain "Razor Hand" Gyro with a bounty of 20 million berries, the razor hand pirates looked like crazed beasts who rushed to the houses and set them on fire. The people of Drought Spiral who witnessed this atrocity panicked and wanted to fight back, but they were no match for the pirates' brutality.

Bundled with their swords and guns, they indiscriminately slaughtered everyone that was trying to get in their way. Be it the elderly, women and children, they showed no remorse.

Dante and August, who were tasked to gather food for the village, had no idea what was happening. They were gathering resources deep within the woods until August pointed towards their village screaming

"look! There's a thick black fog coming from the village ".

Dante looked at the location august was pointing at, when suddenly he felt ominous.

"Lets go back quickly!!"

While hurriedly running towards their village. They left all the resources they've gathered and only brought back their hunting tools.

Once both of them were near, they heard screams and the fog grew thicker, which made it hard for them to see. What welcomed them was a sight that seemed to resemble hell itself.

Pirates slashing, stabbing and shooting people indiscriminately. They even crucified some of the villagers who dared oppose them and were burned alive. After witnessing this gruesome sight, someone screamed "Dante!!! August!!! Run!!" Both Dante and August looked at the direction from which the voice came from and after identifying the source of the scream, Dante was shocked and immediately was blinded by rage.

What he saw was the sight of his father being trampled by someone big and fat that had a sword for an arm. He was about to rush to his fathers side when August grabbed his and and stopped him.

" Stop ! Its already too late, you'll end up endangering yourself"

After hearing such remarks, Dante punched August in the face and tried to run and help his father.

While rushing to his fathers side, Dante kept on yelling "Get the fuck off of my father you fucking pig!!". Razor hand Gyro noticed Dante running towards him and grinned,

"this pathetic pile of bones is your father?"

Suddenly Gyro raised his arm, the one with a sword attached to it and with malicious intent, chopped off the head of Dante's father. After witnessing what happened, Dante froze in place. One moment, his mind was clouded with rage. The next, it became blank. Gyro noticing that Dante had frozen in place, he pointed his gun towards him

Waiting for the inevitable to happen, Dante Closed his eyes.

August who was filled to the brim with adrenaline, noticed that Dante wasn't moving.

He rushed and pushed Dante out of Gyro's line of sight before he could pull the trigger. Both of them fell to the ground and August slapped Dante's face, causing Dante to snap out of his trance.

The two hurriedly got up and ran towards the forest. After noticing that the two young men were making a run for it, Gyro screamed towards his crew "Run after them you useless twats!!" What happened next was that a swarm of pirates rushed towards Dante and August.

Dante and August knew the forest like the back of their hands, they used the forests' thick vegetation to hide and to lure their pursuers to go deeper into the woods. Unbeknownst to the pirates, the forest is filled with traps set up by both Dante and August. It's even rumored that a predator named Death Fang which was said to be larger than a lion, with thick black fur and razor like fangs reside in this very forest.

The pirates ventured deeper within the woods, when suddenly they heard a strange sound, before they could figure out what caused the weird noise, it was already too late. Huge lumbers swung from both sides, squishing five pirates. Blood splattered everywhere.

The lucky ones who were able to avoid certain death, scremed "watch out, the forest is rigged!" Just before they could regain their composure, huge boulders suddenly fell from the nearby hill, leaving behind a gruesome trail of blood and broken bones.

Gyro who was outside the forest grew impatient, began yelling

"How hard it is to kill two fucking brats!!"

Without wasting any time, Gyro marched in with his men inside the forest.

After seeing their pursuers scared and disoriented, Dante climbed up an old tree, hidden within its branches is a wooden bow coupled with a few arrows.

Dante used the chaos to his advantage and sniped the unaware pirates one by one, while August on the other hand threw wooden pikes from a distance, soon, one by one, their pursuers were dying without any resistance.

Just when they thought victory was within their grasp, Gyro saw Dante and in the next moment fired his gun at him. Dante fell from such a great height and was unable to move his body, luckily he was only shot at his arm, otherwise he would've died already.

After seeing Dante was shot, August charged towards Gyro, with his wooden pike in front of him hoping to skewer Gyro. Just when he was about to pierce Gyro, Gyro dodged the attack effortlessly leaving August wide open.

After dodging, Gyro performed a diagonal slash that nearly cleaved Augusts' body in two.

Dante witnessing the horrible fate that his dear friend experienced, he pleaded at Gyro

"stoooooop!! Please stop it!!"

Gyro turned towards Dante and grinned at him

"shut it kid, ill kill you next!"

Gyro was walking slowly towards August's location. Just when he was about to behead August, they all heard a ferocious growl.

Gyro flinched at the dreadful roar, carefully looking at his surroundings.

After confirming there was nothing there, Gyro returned his focus on August who was desperately grasping for air. Gyro raised his arm and smiled one last time towards August, just when he was about to slit his throat, blood suddenly gushed out of nowhere.

Everything happened so fast, the next moment Gyro was screaming horribly like he was experiencing excruciating pain. His right hand was gone, like something bit it off with extreme force.

While Gyro was panting heavily, he looked behind him. What he saw was an enormous black feline-like creature. Gyro was about to pull the gun from his waist, when suddenly the cat-like creature pounced on him and bit his head off.

Dante and August were barely conscious and after seeing the tragic fate that Razor hand Gyro suffered, the cat like creature was slowly approaching both of them, like a predator stalking its prey.

Both had barely any strength left to make a run for it. Especially August who was a couple of blocks away from deaths doorstep. Just when the beast was infront of them, it transformed. Suddenly the huge cat like creature took the form of a man.

Both Dante and August were left in awe, soon after they collapsed from shock and exhaustion.
