It’s strange, waking up again. Especially when a long time passes between going to sleep and waking. Doubly so when on wakes up in a new and unfamiliar body.

Familiar muscle movements cause the wrong limbs to move, senses may be added or completely removed. And despite all these horrible things, the worst may just be the hunger.

Not much happens for a little while. I just sit there, my cocoon still around me, waiting for… something. I myself don’t know what.

Sigh.

Let’s just get this over with. The System seems to agree with me, showing up just in time.

Well then, I guess I should go on and actually get out now. Yes, I certainly should. I’ll get right to that.

Ten minutes later, I’m finally crawling out of my modified simple silk sanctuary that became my cocoon. I stretch my wings and take off.

Aah, this is something I missed. It truly was a shock to go from the freedom of a butterfly to the slowness of a worm. But now I’ve gained it back. Makes me hopeful about silk production.

Just a bit more time passes while I fly around. I avoid others of my kind, wary after my experience last life. But then my strength slowly leaves me.

As I land on the cave wall, I wonder. I wonder about many things, life being one of them.

And then, well, then my life runs dry. It would seem like the adult form of glow worms doesn’t live for very long.
