For hundreds of years, humanity had overcome every obstacle that stood in its path: it had conquered nature and slain the other predators, it had conquered its own physical limits with technology, it had conquered the skies and the stars with imagination and determination. However, in humanity's exploration of the stars and planets, they found true rivals. With its early stage of space civilization and host of unsolved internal struggle, humanity hadn't been ready to take on the enemy. On the losing end of interstellar war, a last resort was made, a sacrifice in the present for the sake of the future. If all that was needed was time to develop the counters to humanity's enemies, then time was what was given. The best minds would gather and open the future via the prototype, in the hopes that it would save whatever remained of humanity. This is the story of Gamma Base.
