Amongst the powers that be, it is well known that Earthling souls are powerful and are highly sought after. So much so that there is a line for any souls they can summon up from the unknown dimension that they originate from. They are so sought after that there are deities who have dedicated their entire existence to finding the Earth dimension which must assuredly be highly magical and fantastical to produce such powerful souls. Too bad they would not find it using that assumption as a dimension such as the one Earth resides in is an uninteresting and mundane one that everyone looks over or straight up ignores.
Woe to those who waste away on a fools quest and woe to the GM who didn’t notice the human soul Justin floating about alongside the three hundred thousand sentients that had been randomly fished up from the multiverse. One Earthling soul is worth ten million ordinary souls or a billion units of soul power; twice the amount the Game Master currently had. Whoever wins the bet on Justin is going to have a happy day not that it matters right now. Justin was ruminating on his past.

I’m proud of my death. Ok that came out wrong, what I mean is that I died with a heroic end by saving two lives from a falling steel beam. Pushed them away is what I did and got crushed for it. It was not a quick death. I screamed in agony before I perished by blood loss and perhaps shock. The scene passed through my head numerous times while I was thinking of my family and a future that could have been.
My grieving continued even after an angel told me “By God’s will, you are to leave this dimension and do as you wish until the end of time where you will be judged like anyone else.” That experience made me briefly think that it is nice to get a confirmation on some things. Death still sucks and recent events just serve to make me angry.
Time remaining until the games begin!

I mean seriously! Deities’, reincarnation and I would not be surprised if flipping Fate exists too! Now I’m stuck in a gladiatorial arena for the entertainment of these deities’, I’m dead and I didn’t get to go the Heaven! &@#% list profanities here &@%!(
…
It took me another hour to get over my emotional outburst. My conclusion was: stuff happens so suck it up and if life gives you lemons make lemonade. My life ended on a heroic note and I have an opportunity to make my future fool-proof… according to this extensive list of reincarnation options the [Soul Skill: Preserved Reincarnation] prevents memory wipes and soul power drains during reincarnation. It’s expensive for a lame sounding skill, like a thousand points. To give context of how expensive this option is a thousand points can have you reborn as a dragon, a crown prince or give you immortality. In general it seems soul skills are expensive because they persist beyond a single reincarnation.
I know that because it took me ten hours to go through most of the reading material. I now know that reincarnating as a single cell bacteria is free and that scares me.

Build your mecha
As the button says. Instructions within.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
Yep, ten hours. I open the ‘build your mecha’ menu since I finished motivating.
Build your mecha
Select a core
The core contains your soul, acts as the mind of your robot and the source of power. The core generates numerous signals that are easily detected by others. If destroyed, Game Over.
Build a body
You use it to move and wield your robot wrecking arsenal. Acts to protect your core and hide it from sensors.
I’ve had a couple of ideas, mostly inspired by media. Let’s see… powerhouse mecha, hive/mothership, transformer. I’m leaning towards a mecha based on ideas like ‘exodia the forbidden one’ and Power Rangers. You know, Combining multiple robots to form a stronger one. The next words I read gave me doubts on what I could do.
Select a core
Soul power: 1,023,109
The size and strength of a core is limited by how much soul power you have. Soul power differs between individuals.
Build Points: 1,000,000
Used to build both the body and core. Same amongst all participants.
I’ve read about this, the Games Arena relies heavily on something called The System, whatever that is, to achieve fantastical feats contained within such small material bodies. The limiting factor is how much power your soul can bear. For entertainment purposes there are no limitations to Soul Power; which I consider unfair but then again it is a game not a sport.
As a mundane human I cannot assume that my soul power can stand up against any opponent no matter how weak. So I immediately look at the first and cheapest core type on the top of the list. What the beep.
Lesser liquid metal core
Description:
This core forms an electromagnetic field that controls a mass of liquid metal as its body. Being the lesser variety, this core cannot form the body into any other shape other than a blob. Cheapest core on the list. Pick this and you deserve to die.
Statistics:
Costs 0.1 BP and 0.01 SP/1 cubic metre of core
Can operate 100 litres of liquid metal/1 cubic metre of core.
Restricted to using aluminium as liquid metal material.
Passives:
[Slow aluminium conversion into aluminium liquid metal on contact.]
Active:
[Launch mass] launches 1% of maximum mass at target.
With a cost like that I can imagine how big other mechas can be. A quick calculation measures a lesser liquid metal core at 909,091 cubic metres in size and its liquid body at 90,909,100 litres using one million BP and 9091 SP. That’s ridiculous! I soon look at the bottom of the list and therefore the most expensive.
Omega Star core
Description
This core alone can defeat all of your opponents given the opportunity. If given the chance to form a proper body around itself then it could even take on a level 1 deity.
Statistics:
Costs 1,000,000 BP and 99,000,000 SP for a 1,000 cubic metre core. Restricted size.
Converts material in a 1 km radius into Transcendent Materia.
Restricts all body customisation except shape and colour. Unlimited body weight.
Body only performs as a protective shell for the core.
Passives:
[Transcendent Materia Absolute Conversion] Converts materials in a 1 km radius instantly into Transcendent Materia and joins it into your body. Cannot be prevented, an unstoppable process.
[Light Speed Transition] travel speed max at light speed. Instant acceleration/deceleration.
[Defy Law] Is only affected by default System rules and not custom rules set by ruling dimension administrator.
[Transfixed Soul] Inhabiting soul is sealed within this body and cannot leave. Immune to all effects upon the soul.
Actives:
[Star Nova] Blasts an 100km area around self with a wall of superheated plasma
[Omega Beam] fires a 100m radius void beam that can change direction at the users’ decision.
[Remake Materia] Regenerates damaged and retrieves lost Transcendent Materia at only the cost of energy.
[MAD Self-Destruct] destroy inhabiting dimension and all within at the cost of your life and soul.
Omega Star Core is obviously out of my budget due to the sheer Soul Power requirements. After 5 hours reviewing the entire list from both the core and body lists I came to the conclusion that just about anything can be afforded but the real limitation is how grand you can get with Soul Power. Of course one can simply create a small cost core and invest everything else in body. A viable strategy but real power seems to lie in the core.
With every scrap of information absorbed at the forefront of my mind it is now time to build my mecha.
