Repeatable skills can be taken at each rarity (every 10 levels), allowing you to stack their benefits.

Common Repeatable Skills

Endurance

Type: Martial, Talent

Cost: 4

Gain 100 Stamina.

Extra Ability Slot

Type: None

Cost: 10

You gain an extra ability slot.

You may only gain 1 extra ability slot from skill per tier.

Extra Spell Slot

Type: Magic

Cost: 10

You gain a spell / spell augment slot.

You may only gain 1 extra ability slot from skill per tier.

Extra Technique Slot

Type: Martial

Cost: 10

You gain a technique / technique augment Slot.

You may only gain 1 extra ability slot from skill per tier.

Hardy

Type: Martial

Cost: 8

Effect: Gain 100 Hit Points.

Lore

Type: Lore, Special; varies by skill

Cost: 3 per rank per lore type.

Lore skills increase the information you gain about an item or creature in their field when you identify or tag them. They also provide you with some general knowledge in that field.

Lore skills can pertain to creature types, to geographical areas, or to concepts, such as religion.

Pack Mule

Type: Profession, Talent

Cost: 4

Effect: Gain 5 Inventory Slots.

Sneaking

Type: Talent

Cost: 6

Effect: You are adept at moving silently and unseen, and at discerning which conditions are favorable for doing so.

Tracking

Type: Talent

Cost: 6

You are adept at discerning the tracks that creatures make through most types of terrain, though creatures less obvious tracks in different types of terrain. Identifying which kind of creature made a certain kind of tracks typically requires the relevant lore skill.

Spirited

Type: Magic, Talent

Cost: 4

Effect: Gain 100 Mana.

Uncommon Repeatable Skills

These skills become available with the skill points you earn at level 11 and higher.

Primeval Resistance

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Type: Martial, Magic

Cost: 3

Choose Fire, Frost, Nature, or Lightning. Gain 10 Resistance to the chosen element.

You may take this skill once per tier for each resistance available.

Common Adventuring Skills

Heightened Sense

Type: Talent

Cost: 6

You choose sight, hearing, or scent when you select this skill. That sense becomes heightened—you are better able to detect things with it. If you choose sight, you grow better at seeing things at a distance and in darkness. If you choose scent, you are better able to distinguish scents and from which direction they are coming. If you choose hearing, you are better able to make out sounds and from which direction they are coming.

Hasty Memorization

Type: Talent

Cost: 6

You gain the ability to quickly commit things to memory, such as reading a page only one time but recalling the information on it with profoundly good accuracy a day later.

Primeval Affinity

Type: Magic, Martial

Cost: 12, or 8 if you have taken this skill before

You gain your choice of 1 Fire, Frost, Nature, or Lightning Affinity. By spending 5 seconds in focus, you can suppress this affinity.

You can take this skill multiple times, choosing a different affinity each time.

Sprinter

Type: Martial, Talent

Cost: 6

You increase the range at which you sprint by 50%. Note that sprinting is not running: when you are sprinting, you cannot use your hands to fulfill components for spells, or use anything you are holding. A character must run for a short amount of time to begin sprinting.

Vehicle Training

Type: Profession, Talent, Vehicle

Cost: 3

Buying this skill allows you to drive a common vehicle of your choice, as well as understand how it functions and make basic repairs. Relevant profession skills will increase your ability to repair and potentially improve the vehicle.

Common Profession Skills

Alchemy Training

Type: Profession, Alchemy, Magic

Cost: 6

Learning this skill allows you to brew common potions and alchemical items. You learn three such recipes upon buying this skill, and can learn other recipes by encountering recipe books or recipe cards out in the world.

Chemist Training

Type: Profession, Chemistry, Talent

Cost: 6

Learning this skill allows you to create common explosives and chemistry items. You learn three such recipes upon buying this skill, and can learn other recipes by encountering recipe books or recipe cards out in the world.

Mechanist Training

Type: Talent, Mechanist

Cost: 6

Learning this skill grants you the ability to make things using the mechanist skill. You gain access to all common mechanical component recipes, along with one uncommon component recipe and one uncommon equipment recipe of your choice.

Poisoner Training

Type: Talent, Poison

Cost: 6

Learning this skill allows you to brew common poisons and some alchemical items. You learn three such recipes upon buying this skill, and can learn other recipes by encountering recipe books or recipe cards out in the world.

Scribe Training

Type: Profession, Magic, Scribe

Cost: 6

Learning this skill allows you to write common ability cards and ability books.

If you spellcraft but no prowess, you learn how to craft spell cards and spell books when you learn this skill. If you have prowess but no spellcraft, you learn how to craft technique cards and technique books when you learn this skill.

If you have both spellcraft and prowess, you choose spells or techniques. You can take this ability again to gain the ability to craft whichever you didn’t choose the first time.

You learn three recipes upon buying this skill, and can learn other recipes by encountering recipe books or recipe cards out in the world.

Smithing Training

Type: Profession, Smithing, Martial

Cost: 6

Learning this skill allows you to forge and repair common metal equipment and items. You learn three such recipes upon buying this skill, and can learn other recipes by encountering recipe books or recipe cards out in the world.

Tailoring Training

Type: Profession, Smithing, Martial

Cost: 6

Learning this skill allows you to forge and repair common cloth equipment and items. You learn three such recipes upon buying this skill, and can learn other recipes by encountering recipe books or recipe cards out in the world.

[Note: there are many profession skills that exist, but won’t be featuring in/making much of an impact on the story. Stuff like carpentry and fishing, which are useful but don’t offer as much as, say, Smithing, aren’t always going to be listed here. Here’s a few, listed out of normal alphabetical order, under this note]

Acrobat Training

Type: Talent, Acrobatics

Cost: 4

Learning this skill increases your ability to perform feats of acrobatics, such as backflips, cartwheels, swinging from things, etc. Your success at these feats, and the complexity of the feats you can perform, is highly dependant on your Agility as well as the rarity of your Acrobatics.

Musician Training

Type: Talent, Music

Cost: 1 or 2

You become proficient in the musical instrument of your choice, though at common rarity you are unextraordinary as a musician. This skill costs 1 fewer skill points if you can already play a different instrument at this rarity.

Carpenter Training

Type: Profession, Carpentry

Cost: 4

You become proficient in crafting buildings and furniture, as well as the tools required to do so.

Uncommon Adventuring Skills

Blackguard

Type: Talent, Poison

Cost: 6

Learning this skill reduces the base time it takes to apply a poison to a weapon by 50%

Engineer

Type: Talent, Mechanical

Cost: 6

Learning this skill reduces the base time it takes to load a power cell into an implement by 40%

Fast Assessment

Type: Talent, Lore

Cost: 8

You gain an instant understanding of any system text you come into contact with. You don’t need to read the system text; instead you gain knowledge of its contents as if you had already read it.

Grenadier

Type: Martial, Talent, Chemist

Cost: 6

Learning this skill reduces the base global item use cooldown by 30% when you trigger it by using an explosive device.

Martial Aegis

Type: Martial

Cost: 10

Learning this skill allows you to prepare aegis spells into technique slots. An aegis spell prepared in this way has triple its normal base casting time. You pay its cost with stamina, spending 2 points of stamina per 1 point of mana in cost.

Mount Training

Type: Talent

Cost: Varies; usually 6

Learning this skill makes you a capable rider of most common forms of mount. A mount must itself be trained for you to ride it.

Overdose

Type: Magic, Alchemy

Cost: 6

Learning this skill allows you to have two potion effects on you at once, instead of the normal 1. Only the most recently-drunk potion will have 100% effect strength—the potion that was drunk first will have its base effect strength reduced by 50%.

If you choose, you can have this ability fail to apply when you drink a potion—that potion’s effect will overwrite the first potion’s as normal.

Practiced Affinity

Type: Magic

Cost: 4

If you have more than 1 of an innate affinity gained from class passives, you can suppress that innate affinity (down to a minimum of 1). You can only suppress innate affinities with this skill.

Source Affinity

Type: Magic or Martial

Cost: 12, or 8 if you have taken this skill before

You gain your choice of 1 Divine, Magic, Physical, or Psychic Affinity. By spending 5 seconds in focus, you can suppress this affinity.

You can take this skill multiple times, choosing a different affinity each time.

Spellcasting Armaments

Type: Martial

Cost: 8

Learning this skill allows you to cast spells with weapons as if they were implements.

Uncommon Profession Skills

Enchanter Training

Cost: 6

Type: Profession, Magic, Enchanting

Requirements: 30 Spellcraft

Buying this skill allows you to place uncommon enchantments on items. You learn one enchantment upon buying this skill, and can learn other enchantments by encountering enchanting schema or enchanting books out in the world.

Fast Crafter

Cost: 12

Type: Special; same as the types for the training skill that you choose

Requirements: Special; training skill for the bracketed skill you choose

Choose a profession skill which you have training in and which allows you to craft items. Items you craft with that skill take 25% less time to craft.

Jeweller

Cost: 6

Type: Profession, Jewelry

Learning this skill allows you to create uncommon pieces of jewelry. You learn two such recipes when you gain this skill, and can learn other recipes through recipe cards and recipe books.

Practical Application (Alchemist, Chemist, Mechanist, Poisoner, Smith, Tailor)

Cost: 12

Type: Special; same as the types for the training skill that you choose

Requirements: Special; training skill for the bracketed skill you choose

Choose Alchemist, Chemist, Mechanist, Poisoner, Smith, or Tailor: you must have the common training skill associated with the chosen skill.

You can destroy an item made with the chosen crafting skill to learn the recipe for that item, provided it is a recipe you are capable of learning.

You may learn this skill multiple times. Each time, you choose a different crafting skill with which to gain this benefit.

Practical Application (Enchanting)

Cost: 12

Type: Profession, Magic, Enchanting

Requirements: Enchanter Training skill.

You may destroy an item to learn a single enchantment on that item.

Practical Application (Scribe)

Cost: 12

Type: Profession, Magic or Martial, Scribe

Requirements: Scribe Training skill.

You may create ability cards for any ability you know.

Professional Educator

Cost: 12

Type: Special; same as the types for the training skill that you choose

Requirements: Special; training skill for the bracketed skill you choose

Choose a profession skill which you have training in and which allows you to craft items. You may craft recipe cards and recipe books for any item that you can create with that skill.

Uncommon Crafting Training

Cost: 6

Type: Special; same as the types for the training skill that you choose

Requirements: Special; training skill for the bracketed skill you choose

Choose a profession skill which you have training in and which allows you to craft only common items. You may now learn and craft uncommon recipes with that skill.
