Holy Demon Continent, Eternal Demon Abyss:
Lin An, or should we say, Lin Ming had been visiting the Eternal Demon Abyss with a tiny, wolf-like beast with a pair of wings on his black. However, that form was just a disguise of Little Black, the young Black Dragon, who will be famous throughout 33 Heavens as the beast companion of the future Human Sovereign Lin Ming.
The visit this time; however, was different.
Unlike other times, a tall, purple-robed lady followed behind Lin Ming and Little Black. Her name is Situ Mingyue. According to their agreement, she has been under the tutelage of Lin Ming for hundreds of years at this point. After following Lin Ming, she looked less like an enchantress and became more mature. Her eyes are no longer filled with coldness and ambition. It has become softer with the viscosity of time experiencing a higher level of the Dao, with a slight light of wishfulness seen in it. It is like she had something that she wished to obtain but couldn’t.
She has fallen in love with Lin An, or maybe Lin Ming. Even she herself doesn’t have an answer. She tried her best to hide those feelings from him, but she doubted they could be hidden from someone like Lin Ming. Nevertheless, she was content enough to be able to accompany him forever, but a part of her knew that she would have to wake up from this dream one day.
She knew that it is impossible, the moment he refused to take her as a disciple is the moment she realized that the only thing she could do is to look at his shadow for the rest of her life.
In the near future, she would no longer be able to see the shadow of his back.
Before this, Situ Mingyue noticed that Lin Ming and Little Black hadn’t been in a great mood. Lin Ming would usually look melancholic, but he would glance in the direction of the Eternal Demon Abyss with soft eyes a few times in the last few months. Little Black; however, was clearly depressed. He was a playful beast that liked to run around and he enjoyed the food that Situ Mingyue prepared for him, but he had looked less energetic and had had a loss of appetite in the last few months.
The only answer she got from Lin Ming when she asked about this is: “One of my respected seniors of the human race is about to depart.”
On this day, there was an unusually huge demonic tide in Eternal Demon Abyss, so not even peak Divine Sea martial artists could stay in its radius. It is like Eternal Demon Abyss is crying for the departure of Dragon Sovereign, its long-time residence, so long that they would have become best friends if Eternal Demon Abyss had consciousness.
This isn’t an issue for Lin Ming. He is currently a World King powerhouse with strength superior to ordinary Empyrean. Also, with his status as Primordius’s heir and his understanding of Grandmist Law, entering the Eternal Demon Abyss is the last thing he should worry about.
That isn’t the case for Situ Mingyue. Despite being in the Divine Transformation realm, she could barely handle the demonic tide. Suddenly, there was an earth-shattering roar filled with myriads of mixed emotions, mostly sadness but containing some contentment. Situ Mingyue suddenly lost consciousness, her face contorted with a painful expression.
Lin Ming could see that her soul had taken heavy damage, on the brink of collapse. This wasn’t the outcome that Lin Ming didn’t expect. The Dragon Sovereign, at his peak, had strength equal to Peak Empyrean. Despite having a severe injury, being trapped in the Chain of Calamity, and giving his strength to his son, Little Black, numerous times, his roar isn’t what a normal World King powerhouse could take, not to mention Divine Transformation. If Situ Mingyue is a bit nearer to the Eternal Demon Abyss, the soundwave would have immediately killed her.
The Grandmist force field rose and covered Lin Ming and Situ Mingyue. When Lin Ming made sure that no one could see through the fog of Grandmist, he took out a gray cube with the surface areas engraved with black-colored inscriptions, exuding a mysterious aura. The cube flew into Situ Mingyue’s head for a few seconds until her complexion looked much better. Then, Lin Ming and Little Black came out of the Grandmist force field and headed into the Eternal Demon Abyss, leaving the unconscious Situ Mingyue under the protection of the force field.

As Lin Ming arrived at the deepest part of the Eternal Demon Abyss, He could see the black figure tens of thousands of miles trapped under the chain. The amber eyes could be seen from what could be vaguely seen as its head, yet its color was much dimmer than the first time Lin Ming had seen the Dragon.
“Senior, why do you have to be so harsh on a junior?”, asked Lin Ming
Dragon Sovereign replied, “Don’t worry, she has a good relationship with Little Black so I won’t kill her. I just don’t want outsiders to disturb the final moment of my life.”
As the Dragon Sovereign saw that Lin Ming still frowned at him, he countered. “I don’t think with you here, she will be fine, perhaps obtained some benefits as well.” Dragon Sovereign continued: “That’s not the main point, is it? You are quite cautious, even if no one aside from me is around, you still covered that girl with the force field. What exactly did you do to her that you have to conceal it from my eyes?”
Lin Ming looked calmly into the eyes of Dragon Sovereign, without saying anything.
Dragon sovereign sighed, “No wonder you are still alive, yet Primordius is dead. He trusts others too much with secrets like Grandmist Spirit Bead. If I hadn’t followed and had seen the power of Grandmist Spirit Bead numerous times, along with the experience of the consequence of it being exposed, I wouldn’t make this conjecture.”
The same Grandmist force field now covered the entirety of Eternal Demon Abyss. Dragon Sovereign smiled, looking at Lin Ming with admiration.
Lin Ming said sternly, “Senior thinks too much. I am just taking precautions against Saint Race’s spy. You know they could still be eyeing Sky Spill Planet as it is once the base of Empyrean Primordius. The God Lamenting Wall between Saint Convocation Heaven and the Divine Realm has broken, so the Saint could easily come and investigate Sky Spill Planet.”
Meanwhile, due to Lin Ming’s Grandmist force field, Twelve Skysplit Tower shook like they were going to break. This results in some unexpected change, but this would be a tale for the future.
Dragon Sovereign countered, “You know this yourself. If they were going to do it, they would have done it for a long time. Aside from that, if saint race spy is here, wouldn’t your force field raise the red flag?”
In hindsight, Saint Race should have sent someone to investigate Sky Spill Planet after conquering Divine Realm, especially after Lin Ming, allegedly Primordius’s heir had grown into the number one talent in 33 Heavens, and the fact that Empyrean Primordius in Abyssal body severely injured Good Fortune Saint Sovereign.
However, the blunder of letting the human race escape was so big that they couldn’t shift their attention to deal with all the loose ends. Aside from Good Fortune Saint Sovereign, most of the saint race’s martial artists that participated in the war at the Sky Spill Planet 100,000 years ago have died in that war. Only a few Empyreans could come back from that war. They chose not to meddle in this for various reasons.
(AU note: As for the reason why Good Fortune Saint Son didn’t destroy the home planet of Lin Ming, I wouldn’t want to humiliate that poor soul any further. He is pathetic enough in the original work.)
They didn’t want to do this thankless task as they might not get the merit from this. The commander of the saint race at that time, Astral Vault God King, wasn’t going to clean up the mess that Good Fortune Saint Sovereign has left behind, not to mention that he didn’t have a clear idea of the matter 100,000 years ago, otherwise, he would at least try to pressure Good Fortune Saint Sovereign to share Grandmist Spirit Bead with him if he knew that Good Fortune Saint Sovereign cultivation was sacrificed to break God Lamenting Wall.
However, the crux of the issue is that those saint Empyreans didn’t see any way the saint lost this war. The difference in combat strength between the human race and the saint race is too large to bridge. Not to mention only one peak Empyrean inheritance, even another Lin Ming might not be enough to shift the power dynamic between humans and saint. Since the victory of the war is guaranteed, they would be better off maximizing their personal profit by amassing as much merit as they could in a short time and not court death by meddling in the matter they shouldn’t.
In truth, there is nothing wrong with this. During the catastrophe of the race, there are no whole eggs in the broken nest. Heroes would come forth as martyrs and give their all in the hope of creating a better future. When victory is near, politicians and businessmen would act on their interests first before their countries.
After that, peacetime will lead to a prosperous era, especially for the winner of the war. If the peace continues, people would take that peace for granted, indulge in entertainment, develop arrogance and superiority, and become more self-centered and selfish.
