Most Martians born, live and die on Mars. Children in schools have access to gravity rooms.  For most, once you graduate at 18, you go back to the low gravity and back to spending countless hours exercising to keep from osteoporosis.

There is a debate going around, what would happen even, the entire planet was filled with gravity rooms and how it would effect Mars orbit, but the majority of the population can't afford it.  It' not that there is a population issue or we are so poor.  Mars actually has a negative population growth, which is actually hurting the economy as it is shrinking, yet goods and services are in high demand and thus expensive.

Stolen novel; please report.

Mars has an independent government from Earth, yet is still quite dependent on Earth for resources. The only thing that is keep Mars a float is the influx of migrants seeking better work and pay.
