Kiss?

Nephis and Arthur sat in silence as the dim lighting illuminated the room. Arthur had explained everything in detail and then gave her some time to digest it. In fact, he was already grateful that she had given some thought to his nonsense.

Anyone else might have either mocked him or simply sent him to a mental hospital. But Nephis was different. She would believe anything he says if it makes him happy. She was hopeless in love.

'I should have treasured her more, but man, I was so stupid.' Arthur sighed and looked at Nephis's beautiful face.

After some time, Nephis raised her head and asked, "Let's say I believe you, but can you show some proof? Like that way there won't be any doubts left in my mind."

Arthur began thinking of anything Nephis had told him in a past life and couldn't remember anything major. So, he looked at her and answered, "I know that you love me, and we were in a relationship. Is that enough?"

And for that, he only got a deadpan look in response. Nephis sighed and said, "That's not really a secret or anything. If you weren't so dumb, you would have noticed it long ago. Everyone already knows it except you."

Arthur opened his mouth to defend himself but closed it soon after. There was really nothing to defend. Also, wasn't she too calm for the current situation? Arthur grinned and said, "You want some secrets then? Fine! You have a mole on your right bo—hey!"

Arthur dodged the heaven-shaking punch and cried out, "Hey! Do you want to kill your husband? This is domestic violence! Also, you're the who asked that."

Nephis raised her fist once again as she looked at Arthur backing away. Her face was calm, but a hint of redness was visible, running from her neck to her ears. She snorted and said, "Who said I am going to accept you as my husband, you damned scumbag."

Arthur ran around his small home as he tried to offer an explanation. Nothing worked, and Nephis chased him until she caught him. She was awakened, and Arthur stood no chance against her.

Soon, they were back on the couch but in different positions. Arthur had his head clutched tightly in Nephis's arms, so he wasn't able to see her face. He asked, "So do you believe now?"

"Yes, but it is still hard to believe honestly. Humanity is really going to be destroyed. It feels like a dream. But given our current, its also not surprising that we lost. We are barely keeping an stalemate and if another catalysm struck, humans are bound to lose. So, do you have any grand plans to save Earth?" Nephis sighed and spoke, her voice filled with helplessness.

Nephis was a prodigy and knew matters that the common populace didn't. She knew how humanity was faring against the voidborns. The government always spread false propaganda so that more people would choose to become sentinels.

Arthur lingered for a while before saying, "I don't have any major plans, to be honest. I just know what I need to do for now. As for future, I will leave everything to you guys."

For that, he got a smack on his head as Nephis's voice resounded, "Then why did you tell me all of this if you don't have plans? I thought you wanted my help."

"It hurts! Leave me first, you damn gorilla!" Arthur cried out as his whole head was stuck in her tight clutches. She was far stronger than him, so he couldn't even resist.

"I see that you have become very courageous. Did my future self get soft or what?" Nephis's lips twitched when she heard Arthur, and she increased her grip but kept her strength in control. Then she heard his muffled cries and released him.

Arthur instantly jumped away and went to crouch in the corner. He muttered as he tried to catch some breaths, "Fuck! I forgot I can't spank her now.'

"Did you say something?"

"Nothing!" Arthur shouted and stood up. Even though he acted as if he was greatly hurt, he was very happy to have his usual banter with Nephis. He had really missed it. He looked up and found Nephis also smiling.

He shook his head and went to sit beside her. He was going to say something when he felt something soft and wet touching his cheeks. His eyes widened as he turned to look at Nephis while holding his cheeks.

"Well, I was going to confess after you have properly awakened and come back from Elferia, but since you already know, there's no helping it. Happy birthday and I love you, bozo," Nephis had a wide smile on her face as she gave him a kiss on the other cheek.

Arthur didn't even react for some time as the situation registered him.

"What? I thought you have matured but you are getting dazed just because your childhood friend kissed you? Seriously!" Nephis laughed as she poked Arthur's cheeks.

Arthur sighed and looked down. He then mumbled, "I'm sorry, Neph!"

Nephis got confused by his words, and a bad feeling arose in her heart. She thought, 'He's not going to reject me, right?'

And then Arthur jumped on her as he rained kisses on her cheeks and neck. Nephis was caught off guard and fell back. Arthur didn't stop, however, and turned both of her cheeks completely wet from kisses. Nephis could have stopped, but she didn't and simply enjoyed the attention her crush was giving her.

She giggled and said, "Stop! What if Dad comes here?"

"Then he will see his son-in-law!" Arthur stopped as he answered. Nephis was lying beneath him, and their faces were so close that they could feel each other's breaths.

Nephis grinned and said, "Do you really want my Dad to see us in this situation?"

Hearing Nephis, Arthur remembered a tall, almost seven-foot-tall burly man and felt a chill run down his spine. He looked at the door and said, "Actually on second thought, you are right. I don't want to die second time?"
