Marcus
By The Camp Fire

By The Camp Fire

You stand in a forest surrounded by the pitch black night and the sounds of hungry wolves walking over the occasional dry leaf.

You run through the forest and eventually you come across a light in the distance that glowed the bright light of a fire so you move there to avoid whatever is stalking you through the dark wilderness.

When you break through the brush you see an old looking man with gray hair and many battle scars.

"Ah. Welcome, I have been expecting you" The old man said while giving a friendly aura and gesturing to a tree stump that faces the log fire purfect hight for sitting on. You are cautious about the unknown man as in this world it is not safe to trust people you don't know. Bad things happen under the cover of night. You move your hand to the dagger by your waist slowly while waiting for any sign of aggression.

"..."

"Not much of a talker? That's ok. But take your hand off your dagger. If I wanted you dead I guarantee the last thing anyone would have done is light a fire in the middle of a forest. I am to old for that sort of action anyway" The old man said while cracking his neck and knuckles. he looked old but not frail in the slightest. Built like a brick wall is more like it. You take a seat while looking around for your previous hunter.

"..."

"Fear not. No wolf is going to come near us. The camp fire scares them off" The old man said. In the camp fire were some fish busy cooking. You haven't eaten in a while and your stomach starts growling.

"I guess your stomach has more of a voice then you do. The fish will be done soon and I will happily give you some if you would care to listen to the story of this old fool" The old fool said while checking on the fish. Considering there is no water source for miles to get fish from and there is nothing safe to hunt you try to at least give it some thought.

"Hey. Cut an old fart like me some slack. Your the first person I have talked to... talked at for a long time. It gets lonely at my age" The old man said while looking into the fire with a sort of sadness in his eyes. You can tell those eyes have seen a lot and the faint glisten of him holding back tears is shown clearly by the dancing red flames.

"..."

"Saying nothing huh? I will take your still being here as a yes and continue talking. even if you ignore me it is still something to say" The old man said while taking a seat himself of a tree stump opposite you. You couldn't care less about his stories however due to hunger you are forced to remain so while you wait there couldn't be any harm in listening to his ventures.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

"First things first. I am Marcus, Marcus Welt. I am from another world" Marcus said casually like it was commonplace. You looked at him like he was a liar. It was impossible.

"Well if you need evidence..." Marcus was wearing the most basic of rags and he removed his top to reveal a summoning rune located above his solar plexus. It was very dull and had near no power running through it but it couldn't be forged. The gods wouldn't allow it.

Marcus put his top back on with a smug smile.... You decide he may have gotten your attention.

"..."

"Nothing to that? oh well. I will make you talk eventually" Marcus said with a determined smile. You begin to feel like it was more of a challenge then just an old man wanting to talk but you begin to feel a lot of strange things from Marcus.

"Well... Where to begin? I guess we should go right to the start. The me who was a fool and had yet to know the true horror of the real world" Marcus said ominously as he leaned over the fire giving him a mysterious sort of look. Like one would have when trying to build an atmosphere. Just how lonely did this old man get to go this far to get your attention?

"Tell me. Before I continue. Would you care to tell me your name young one?" Marcus asked curiously

"..."

"I guess you really are not in a talking mood are you. Oh well. Maybe when the cooking is done you will be more willing to talk" Marcus said while taking a quick glance below him to the fish.

*Growl*

"Oh. your stomach talks more then you do it seams. Anyway. Since you were so kind as to come see me at the end let me start this story from where it all began..."
