City of Umbrella, streets of the residential district. 16th day of October 2124 AD.
... (MC POV)
Currently, I am running on the street while being drenched by a sudden outpour of rain. My silver hair has become darker because of the accumulated water, and my black shirt is sticking to my skin. I would have loved if there were people on the streets to see how handsome I look right now, but I have no time to think of such things, as there is only one thing in my mind right now.
FUCK! fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck... FUUUUUUCK! Hans is going to kill me! It is the third time this week I arrive late at home! Why did I have to stay at the university to ask the professor to help me clear some doubts?! It is the thirteenth time I forgot that he already uploaded his AI to the UniComm! Why do I have to be such a forgetful bastard! Those anime protagonists that have a genius-level intellect like mine never forget things! FUUUUCK!
Yeah, that is what I was thinking. I am a genius, actually, I am a genius recognized on a global scale. In the past, I could actually have gotten my Ph.D. a lot sooner, but the laws have changed and now the academic difficulty increases with the IQ of a person. As my IQ couldn't be calculated using normal methods I've got to reach an unprecedented level of knowledge before getting my Ph.D.
There must be other things you are wondering, like: Why is the MC directly narrating the story? Is he a chunni? Is his hair color natural? Does he have red eyes and an eyepatch? Who is Hans? What is the actual level of technology this society has achieved? I will explain these points accordingly.
I am narrating this because I have complete knowledge of myself being in a novel, for reasons that are only going to be explained later, but I will not narrate the story every chapter.
I am a chunni indeed, too much anime, novels, and manga. My hair color is natural, but it is not a normal natural hair color, that is why I say I dyed it and fortunately many people in society are otakus that do the same. My eye color is indeed red, but I don't use an eyepatch.
Hans is my foster father, he took me from an orphanage and raised me from an early age. He is someone I love and cherish, and who I would do anything for. But he can also kill dozens of thugs alone and is easily enraged. This society has invented advanced AIs, many kinds of robots and extremely powerful power sources, but we have not invented interstellar travel yet.
And there is another important thing to say, which I would say its the most peculiar aspect of our society. The Inans.
No one knows why they exist, or how for that matter, as even modern science can't explain them. Inans are basically two things: Their Building, and their Manifestation.
When I say Building, I mean it in the literal sense. Their buildings are the houses and other edifications built by humans. When a building is created, it will form a manifestation, that is identical in every way to a human. Those manifestations become the vessel that holds its life, and if it dies the Building will crumble. As for the building, it is like the mind or the soul of the Inan, and if it is damaged it will affect the manifestation's memory and personality.
Currently, the Inans have the same rights as humans, and we live together in harmony... at least to the point that is possible for sentient beings to live together in harmony.
Hans isn't my house's Manifestation, but I also don't know where his building is. We also don't live alone, as we are a family of three. Me, Dante Reinhardt. Him, Hans Reinhardt. And my little brother, Giorgio Reinhardt. We are the Reinhardt family.
As I run in the rain for a few kilometers, I see my house in the distance. It is a two-story house with a big veranda and a few flower pots on front. I stop in front of it while panting. I have a really unhealthy physical constitution, and I have sedentary habits as well. So I become tired incredibly easy, and my body reactions are extremely slow even though my mind is fast.
I look at the doorstep and put my shoes by the side of the door before picking them up, as I will die if I dirty the house. For some reason Hans acts more like a house-mom than as a single father, I think that is also the reason I suddenly became bisexual after hitting puberty. But what do I know about psychology? I have never understood it for some reason.

When I enter the house, I see the whole kitchen, that basically only had what was necessary like an oven, a blender, etc... And in front of the oven was a tall man, that had the facial features of a Greek god. His hair, like mine, had an unusual natural green color. His body was so well proportioned that it could be used as the standard model for a human body, it was so perfect it gave me the creeps. But every time I look at him I notice that I am not the most handsome man in the world.
He looks at me with a gentle smile that was as calming as a spring breeze, it was as if every single part of his body was smiling at me, such scenery would usually be considered as good as the pièce de résistance of the best painter in the world.
But to me, it was so eerie and terrifying that I would rather play darts with a demon than look at that face. It was like I could already hear the call of death.
He slowly raised his hand, his motions were so fluid that it seemed he had already made that same move thousands of time... because that move was...
"Hissatsu! Rubber Ladle of DOOM!" Hans' Killing move!
As soon as I heard that scream, I tried to dodge, but it was a futile attempt. Because before I could even move, a rotating object had already struck my face. It was too fast and too strong, I almost fainted on the spot... well, I would have if it was meant to make me faint, but not only was the ladle made of a really soft kind of rubber, Hans would also not let me faint before dinner.
As the ladle fell on the ground with a thud, I raised my head as I rubbed my temples. I looked at Hans' face that was twitching with anger, no trace of his previous angelical face was left. He actually gave me a thuggish feeling, as he curled his lips and clenched his fists.
"Hahaha! D, you really should go to the gym. With your brain's processing speed, with a little more physical fitness you could maybe last longer than me under Hans' Hissatsu."I heard a playful voice coming from the living room door, it was a boyish voice, that had a note of innocence to it.
That was my little brother, Giorgio, who I fondly call G. He is twelve years old this year, and he is also a globally famous athlete, that is so talented that even while being a kid, he only takes part in sports along with adults.
He is also another reason for me to doubt my own handsomeness. He has a fit and healthy body, and he also has a cute face that could even be called girlish, as well as blonde hair and sapphire blue eyes. He was not only handsome, he was so cute I have an urge to dress him as a trap every once in a while.
This is my whole family, we are all abnormal monsters and devilishly handsome guys. Usually, it would be enough for our family to be recognized as a treasure of humanity, but such thing never happened. Why?
The Reinhardt family members aren't the holders of such titles. In society, we are just a normal family, and I attend a normal university, G is a normal student and Hans is a normal father.
We have no idea what is Hans' Job, but we know that whatever it is, it must either be in a secret organization or in the Union government. Either of them is amazing enough, especially the Union government that unified the whole world.
That is why we have legal second identities for our incredible careers, that is all because Hans insisted on living a normal life. We both still don't know why, but we have no reason to go against that. Living a normal life is good though, but as a chunni and an otaku, I've only ever made two friends in my entire life.
After I squabbled with Hans and G a little, it was already time for dinner. I love Hans cooking, and I swear even those world-class chefs don't cook better than him. It is indeed another one of Hans' secrets.
We then sit at the table, and we get ready for our dinner prayer. It is not a religious prayer because everyone in this table is an atheist, it is only a habit that we developed because Hans said that 'the universe vibrates in the same rhythm as we do, that is why the way we think affects the world around us.'. It is something weird to say when you don't even believe in souls, but it is actually a physics metaphor, and it is also good to think positively.
We give each other our hands, and we then start our prayer.
"I hope that even if Dante and Giorgio arrive late, they arrive safely." Was Hans' prayer.
He is really violent sometimes, but there is one thing that neither of us doubts in this life. He loves us, maybe even more than we love him. He is not 'like' our father, as the word father can't even begin to describe what we feel for him, and even the word son isn't enough for him to say how much he loves us.
"I hope that Hans stays at home more often and that Dante stops having such a bad memory." Was Giorgio's prayer.
It looks like a sarcastic prayer, but that is just his playful character. He actually really misses Hans when he isn't home, and he worries when I have problems because of my bad memory. He worries more about us than he worries about himself.
"I hope we stay united forever." Sigh... that was my prayer.
It was really fitting for that moment because of what was about to happen, I never thought that I would be wishing this same thing over and over again for a long while.
But as soon as I finished my prayer, I heard a noise coming from the stairway. It was the sound of footsteps, which should be impossible as we are the only ones that live in this house, and we almost never receive visitants.
Standing in the middle of the stairway was a girl, a beautiful girl with glossy skin, wide and big purple eyes and wavy purple hair. She had a dazed dead-fish-like look on her face, but even still, she was still overly attractive.
This is not a slice of life novel, nor is it a comedy novel. There will be plenty of action, adventure, and fights in this novel...
Because this is a novel about the end of the world...
