Chapter 2: An Echo (2)

Chapter 2: An Echo (2)

Finally having reached the centre of the busy, bustling city he approached the remnants of what was once the big ben- it had been destroyed and decimated in the early Cambrian years as a result of a wandering Taoist and a clan of Voodoo Shamans becoming possessed by ‘a fallen one’ a wreaking havoc and plaguing the streets with demonic entities.

The once marvellous grand standing tower of clockwork had been recuced to rubble in a mere instant – it as a turning point in history from that point forward the power of the fallen ones was revered and they were for the first time seen as not only just a group of misguided children. They were now seen for what they were, terrorists.

In its place floated an obsidian black pillar, this pillar which was surrounded by 18 cloaked and hooded individuals each cloak decorated by a different animal. A long stream of children could be seen a few meters away from the obsidian pillar each one making strange and gestures and swiping their finger across the air as if they were playing with an invisible smart phone.

Reiner hurriedly rushed towards the platform where he was met by a series of scornful expressions. He was late. The administrator seemingly not caring at all asked Reiner for his full name.

“Reiner Loca” replied Reiner in a hushed tone.

“Oh a Loca? Any relation to The Revealer?” he administrator asked in an inquisitive maner

“No sir, just a coinicidence” Reiner quickly snapped

The administrator stood seemingly having lost interest in the child before him and swiped his hand in the air and told Reiner to wait 1 minute for adjustments to be made.

Reiner glanced up upon the administrator unphased by his change in tone. The Revealer was the title given to Reiner’s grandfather when he pulled open the curtain revealing the truth to everyone, the reason he had chosen to hide this was due to not only his relatives new found position of power in not only the world government but also several of the major clans power houses and they had made it no secret that their hatred of Reiner’s grandfather did not stop at him but also further extended to him. However, that was not the only reason he chose to hide the fact he was his grandson there were two other reasons, the first of these two being; the family as a way to make sure the stock price did not take a tumble carried out the hostile takeover in secret and they had some way of making sure that his grand father one of the strongest existences in history kept his mouth shut. The second of the two being he was too weak to live up to his grandfathers legacy so if he did admit the truth then perhaps his life would be cut short by one of his grandfathers old foes or perhaps even by a crazed fanatic who was obsessed with his grandfather’s work.

Awaiting confirmation…

A bright blue interface stood out in front of me Reiner screamed in horror and jumped back aghast at what was happening only to be met once again by the many scornful gazes from the lines of people behind, however, this time there was not only scorn in their eyes but also a sense of blatant mockery.

One of the well-dressed older gentlemen who was closer to him gave a friendly smile and told Reiner that he had to say initialise and this part of the administrator’s ability awakening system he just had to follow the steps in front of him.

Truthfully, this was all common knowledge and should have been known beforehand but as Reiner had lived by himself since he was 3 years old only being looked after by a demon summon his grand father had left him until he was 5 so a vast majority of his time was spent working for a nearby drug cartel were he and the rest of the orphan children were forced to scower the market place looking for both ingredients and potential buyers.

Reiner embarrassed quickly thanked the well-dressed gentleman and went on to murmur initialise.

The administrator quickly bolted towards Reiner and asked what he had done Reiner immediately responded that he had done nothing he just said initialise and the GUI had begun to freeze and glitch.

WARNING SYSTEM IS BEING INTERFERED WITH BY EXTERNAL OBJECT.

PLEASE REMOVE EXTERNAL OBJECT BEFORE PROC….

System terminated

A gargantuan explosion could be seen on the bridge over the Thames a stone throw away.

All the children had been sent this message and immediately looked up towards the administrator.

The administrator was clearly panicked he darted towards the hooded figures and screamed “Code 113 suspected fallen ones attack they’re interfering with the test”

One of the 16 figures that had a drawing of a dragon on his back Began to give orders to the group.

“Eagle deploy detection magic assess the situation find out how many enemies there are.

Bear round up the children one of them is the target and until we ascertain which one send all of them to camp C666

Turtle and armadillo Begin forming defensive barriers

Everyone else stay vigilant and prepare for battle.”

As this was all going on Reiner had a gut feeling that the system failing had nothing to do with the strange explosion or the ‘fallen ones’ but was infact due to the mysterious card which had unexpectedly vanished.
