We´ve finally gotten rid of that annoying Prick Julian and while my anger is still not gone, at least threatening to kill him with his own Poké Balls was nice, even if I had to break a Poké Ball in the process.
Well, I might be able to fiddle around with those Poké Ball pieces and make a Storage unit for Inorganic Material or even better, store things in general.
While I was once again lost in thought we arrived at the Pokémon Center and handed the Nurse our three unconscious Pokémon. Now that I think about it, why didn´t any of these Pokémons get injured in that fight? Guess I´ll ask those three later.
Seems like it will be taking some time before the Nurse heals back our Pokémon so we have to pass the time somewhere. At least they have a waiting room where we´re currently headed to.
Arriving at the waiting room, it doesn´t look really special, just seats and a few tables with brochures on them, like a normal waiting room. However, there are these contraptions mounted on the right wall, which looks like a Tablet embedded in an old Phonebooth with a weird cylinder attached to its side.
With my researcher Spirit burning for answers, I tap Jessie on her Arm to grab her attention.
(Mira) "Hey Jessie I couldn´t help but wonder, but what are those things mounted on the wall? Are they phones or something, or is my guess totally off?"
She looks at the Wall-mounted devices and then at me with a surprised look. Seems like those things are pretty common.
(Jessie) "Yeah, they´re phones. Did they not have those types where you´re from?"
Now it´s my turn to look surprised. She actually thinks I meant the Phone part I should probably correct her on that.
(Mira) "I know what a phone is and how it works. What interests me is the Cylinder attached to it on the side."
Jessie balls her hand into a fist and hits her other flat palm with it whilst saying 'oh'.
(Jessie) "Well, the Device that´s built into this phone is there to transfer Pokéballs over to the person you talk to. Most people only carry around six Pokéballs since that´s the maximum allowed for official battles so they usually swap them out here to prepare for Gym leaders or important battles... why are you looking at that thing like you just met the love of your life?"
YES! I thought it´d be much harder to get my hands on a teleporter I even thought that I´d have to build one myself again, but without knowing the Materials used to conduct electricity here. That would´ve been a Nightmare and probably set me back quite a few years if not killed all kinds of progress entirely.
If it´s only simple applications like a heating blanket then that´d be no problem, but I´d like some more info on things since the teleporter will literally send my own body on a trip. I´d prefer not losing something due to ignoring that fact.
(Mira) "I don´t care how, but I need one of those. I want to repurpose it for other uses. The means you use to get it don´t matter to me so tell me: how do I get my hands on one of those?"
Jessie rips her arm out of my grasp. whoops seems I grabbed onto her while I was focussed on acquiring that Teleportation device and didn´t quite regulate my strength. But it seems people here are tougher than on Earia so at least I don´t have to hold back and can get a bit rougher with annoying people.
(Jessie) "No need to get violent, also calm down people are staring. If you want one so badly we have some of those back at the company, so wait until we get back and you can start fiddling around with it."
Seems like my researcher Spirit took over my common sense there for a sec. I should probably apologize for the commotion.
Bowing down slightly and uttering a single sorry is enough to turn the attention of the people in the waiting room back to what they were previously doing, most having already seen weird people in a Pokémon Center before and not giving it any more thought.
(Mira) "Ah well, I calmed down now. By the way, while we´re waiting can you tell me why the Pokémon only fainted in that battle? I mean most of those attacks would be considered Lethal in terms of damage if they hit."
(James) "Well, that´s pretty hard to answer since there are three definitions and interpretations on this topic. The religious people think the Pokémon God Arceus is responsible for this protection while the scientists argue that they have a kind of Field around them that nullifies Pokémon attacks and instead causes them to faint when it´s at critical levels. And last but not least the ones that have their own thoughts and conspiracies on the matter that are too many to list and if I did we´d probably be here for a week."
Huh, that was shorter than I thought, but at least it took enough time for that Egg on legs to come here with our Pokéballs. While releasing Alakazam from its ball we leave the Pokémon Center towards the small Harbour.
The walk there is pretty uneventful except for me looking at the scenery and Jessy taking small glances at James but reeling away as soon as he looks over to her and trying to make it look as if she´s searching for a shortcut or somebody suspicious.
Enjoying this cat and mouse with their gazes I didn´t notice us already arriving at the harbour until James starts talking to a Sailor, or at least I´m assuming he´s one in those Marine Blue and White Clothes.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
(Sailor) "Well there´s a ferry goin' there, but it´s gonna cost ya quite a bit since ya can´t take any ferry with the missy over there. Ya gotta get on one with a decent width which is more expensive than our regular boats. I´d recommend the Sun Diver even if the Captain is kind of an Oddball usin' mostly Fire Pokémon since he likes it warm 'round his Boat n' keepin' most things away from it by usin' that. Oh, by the way, ya three should hurry up since he´s probably gonna set sail in about half an hour."
Thanking the Sailor for telling us where he´s docked as well as where the dock actually is, we leave towards the Sun Diver to have the Captain take us with him to Celadon City.
(???) "Hey, you three, looking for a particular ship?"
Jessie turns around towards the voice coming from behind her.
(Jessie) "Well, yes we´re looking for the Sun Diver, a Sailor told us it´d be around this part of the Docks."
(???) "Well then you´re in Luck, I´m Fernes Smo, Captain of the Sun Diver. Let me guess you want a ride? If so I´m gonna go with my regular fee of 35000 Poké En per Person and Human sized Pokémon that's outside of their ball during the Journey."
Huh, this Fernes dude looks really fancy for a Captain. From the Flames on his Black shirt to the Red Hair with Orange streaks and Red Shorts I´m getting warm just from looking at him. Also, the price seems really cheap in comparison to Boat trips back in my World, but that might just be inflation taking its course.
(Jessie) "Yes that´s correct, we´d like to book it with three people and one Human sized Pokémon to help her get around."
Confirming Captain Smos question Jessie opens up her purse and hands the Captain the 140.000 Poké En to which he simply nods and walks towards the Docks we were walking towards just now and gesturing us to follow him.
(Fernes) "Man it´s been a while since I had so many passengers at once in the offseason, usually I only get traffic during the Holiday Seasons with Cinnabar Island as the destination and even then they usually board the ship in Vermillion City. By the way, which stop do you want to get off, so I know that I won´t have to wait for you three to come back to set sail again."
(James) "Oh, we´re getting off in Vermillion since she can´t really ride on a car with us so we have to go by boat."
The Captain looks at me with a pitying expression.
(Fernes) "Oh, let me guess the little girl is a psychic? Cause I´ve never seen any injury like that on a normal person."
Hmm, it seems like the fact that people who use mana externally are frailer than those who don´t is also present in this world, but they have less understanding of it since they went into a direction where they tame the monsters instead of training themselves... wait, did he just call me little girl?
(Mira) "Little girl? Boy you don´t look any older than twenty-three, I´m probably old enough to be your mother you little shit I´ll be forty-three this year so I´d appreciate if you didn´t treat me like an eight-year-old, otherwise, I´d have to fry your ass with a bit of electricity."
Getting slightly pissed off at being looked at like a small child I release a bit of Electrical type Mana. Oh... why did the three of them freeze all of a sudden? Don´t tell me I did a mistake with the power output and showed more power than any of those 'psychics' possess.
(Jessie&James) "You´re older than the two of us combined?!"
(Fernes) "You´re older than forty?! You don´t look a year older than ten!"
Releasing a bit more voltage towards Fernes released a bit of my frustration at his comment. I mean I know that you can only see the age of a Lamia by looking at the length of their tail, but getting treated like a child still pisses me off.
Oops, seems like I hit him with more than intended. Now he looks ridiculous with all those hairs just standing up it reminds me of a campfire.
Also, Jessie now looks at me with a lot of pity for some reason, but why? Wait... she´s looking at my chest. She probably thinks I´m part of the no chest faction, but honestly, I couldn´t care less since only mammals need that useless baggage and I´m a reptile so why should I care.
Seeing me not reacting to her pitying look Jessie seems relieved that I wasn´t offended by that. Fernes, however, seems to not have taken my shock lightly and I should probably apologize for giggling like a small child who just pulled a whoopie cushion Prank.
(Mira) "*Pff* Sorry about that Captain Smo, sometimes when I *kikiki* get agitated I start releasing electricity and so it some... I can´t... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA your hair looks like a campfire I just can´t keep a straight face right now I´m sorryhihihihi."
Hearing my laughter some of the Sailors look over to us and immediately start laughing as well causing Captain Smos head to turn red in embarrassment or rage, I don´t quite know which one it is but I couldn´t care less since he now looks like a fire on legs.
(Fernes) "Very funny... I guess we´re even now, I called you a kid and you made my hair stand up and made me the laughing stock of this harbour for at least a few months until some poor dude gets pinched by a Krabby while taking a piss again. Well, the more time we spend here, the more I´m a laughing stock to those people so get a move on you three or I´m leaving your asses behind."
He seems to take this really easy. Those Sailors must be really starved for entertainment when an electrical hairdo makes somebody joke material for a few months. Well not that it matters since we´re gonna leave this harbour behind pretty soon anyway.
After this small argument, we arrive at the Sun Diver without any more time wasted by stupid stuff and I have to say the Boat looks as flamboyant as its owner with Fire like patterns engraved onto the hull of the ship making it seem as if it is riding on an ocean of fire even though it´s sitting in the water. At least I won´t feel cold during this boat trip.
(Fernes) "Well then, get on and let´s go. I got a schedule to keep."
Jessie, James and Alakazam walk over the landing stage while Alakazam transports me with Telekinesis and lets me down once we´re all on deck.
On the boat, I can see quite a few Pokémon roaming around and consult the Pokédex for each of them. Seems like his crew is a Fire-type Pokémon named Magmar, a strange looking pink Magmar and a so-called Charmelion. The Pokédex just shows a strange Star in addition to the normal info when I look at the Pink Magmar though.
(Mira) "Hey James, that Pink Magmar shows up with a white star in the Pokédex. Does this mean anything special?"
(James) "Well yeah, it means it´s a rare variant, which trainers have begun to call 'shinies' since they usually look more vibrant in comparison to their normal brethren and they are extremely rare. Only about one in every 8200 wild Pokémon is a Shiny Pokémon so we´re currently seeing one of the rarest kinds of none Legendary Pokémon."
While James explains Captain Smo walks up to us behind James.
(Fernes) "Well yeah, my little Maggie was a present from my parents the day I got independent even though I told them I´d become a captain for a Boat. But hey, at least I get lots of customers from Alola since they prefer it warmer than the usual climate we have in Kanto and boat trips are usually colder."
Well somebody found a niche market and a way to use it.
(Fernes) "Have you got everything you guys need? Because we´re gonna take off now so I hope you didn´t forget anything, otherwise, you have to pay the price when you return with my ferry which will be docking in Vermilion City once a week."
After confirming that nobody from our group forgot anything Captain Fernes pulls up the landing stage before walking to the Captains wheel and getting the Ship set in motion.
