Amazing. A human has realised what a futile effort it is to try and remain human whilst their world burns. Congratulations. This is one random race change purely determined by your own luck, if ehat we have seen so far makes any pattern it means horrible decisions and barely surviving. Good luck.

Damien’s mouth went dry at the notification. Based on luck. He had been chased by a monster who declared him its mortal enemy, barely survived by falling into a hole. Which somehow turned out to be an entrance to a dungeon that shouldn’t be entered for years yet. He was poisoned, tired and had no cards to play for survival but this race change. If this didn’t work, he might as well see if there was any bigger fish in the water out there.

Steeling his nerves, he looked further down the screen.

Akari Craftsmen: Tier 3

A race of beings that revolve around the use of bionic implants, creating and using them of maximum efficiency. All Akari have innate knowledge of how biological and machine can be fused in a symphony. This subrace is purely dedicated to the craftsmanship of bionic implants, they are unable to use and military inclined bionics.

Note: Biological implants not included

Advantages: Flesh that easily accepts bionics, Crafters instinct, Knowledge of implants.

Disadvantages: Requires implants, Unable to use military implants.

Undemener: Tier 4

A race of golematic type beings created by a long dead magus. They have since become a wholly separate race that live purely beneath the surface of a planet. Fully adapted to fighting and building deep in the bowels of a planet.

Advantages: Physical semi-immortality, Stone flesh, Infinite stamina.

Disadvantages: Susceptible to mind altering magics, Requires underground environment.

Vampire: Tier 3

A bloodsucking creature of darkness. Not a lawyer but a vampire. Exceptional strength, speed and endurance, vampires are well suited to blood magics. They are unable to reproduce on their own but instead require to ‘turn’ another humanoid biological being.

Advantages: Massively enhanced strength and speed, Blood magic affinity, Killer instincts.

Disadvantages: Death upon contact with sunlight, Unable to reproduce within their race.

Slug: Tier 0

A fat, useless, slow creature that barely moves and is often eaten without resisting. Sound familiar. The evolutionary ancestor of humans we offer you the option to devolve. Choose this option we would love to see it.

Advantages: Nothing.

Disadvantages: Everything.

Bone Abomination: Tier 3

A massive titan of bone that is virtually unstoppable. Frequent sights in any massive undead horde. This race is semi-immortal and close to indestructible, it requires immense damage to destroy.

Advantages: Semi-immortality, Near indestructibility, Titanic strength.

Disadvantages: Requires necromantic master.

Marauder: Tier 6

A massively adaptable, shapeshifting race that revolves around hunting and killing. Able to ingest near anything and repurpose it to help it survive. Famed around the galaxy for its immense potential for death and destruction they are often killed on sight in civilised space.

Advantages: Shapeshifting, Adaption, Absorption by digestion.

Disadvantages: Dampened morality, Focus upon hunting, Near universal hatred.

The options were wild and varied, one was clearly an insult and the probable choice if he let the random choice take place. Excluding the slug and other races that allowed for reduced defence to mind altering influences. He considered the other choices, vampire was popular in culture but the death upon seeing sunlight seemed like a massive weakness, the Akari craftsman strength needed materials and couldn’t use the best it could make anyway and thus, the real choice was the Marauder race, his hesitation upon seeing Near universal hatred, dampened by his desire to survive the ongoing apocalypse.

With a great breath of air, he breathed out and chose the last option on the list. For a moment nothing happened but then his skin itched and twisted turning like playdough, then a massive bolt of pain shot through his body and he let out one scream before he blacked out.

When he next woke up, he was face down in the sand, he blinked his crusted up eyes before pushing himself up. He felt light and free and. He clenched his fists. Strong. Using the small source of blue light, he looked down at himself and saw a black form, scales forming a large pattern that stretched across his body, muscles rippled beneath the scales and large bony claws tore out of his skin left and right side of his hands creating almost pincer like hooked claws.

Looking at the status screen revealed changes.

Seeing the race change and the new entries in abilities he focused to bring up descriptions.

Shapeshifting: The ability to naturally twist and mould your form. Want to be handsome for once, here you go? Want to become a cupboard? This is the ability for you.

Notes: Marauder derivative of shapeshifting focuses primarily on using Adaptions and parts found using Absorption by digestion.

Adaption: Spent too long in the bath and your skin is wrinkly? Give it time and this ability creates a way to change and prevent or resist or improve within a scenario.

Notes: Marauders adaption can be sped up by ingesting an example of the ability held by another creature. Requires ability shapeshifting to use or dismiss adaptions.

Absorption by digestion: Want your skin to shine like gold? Call yourself the man of bling? Anything you eat or consume can be used to improve your physical form.

Notes: Marauders can shape shift to eat something of any size. Requires shapeshifting to use parts items or beings consumed.

That revealed a lot. Thought Damien to himself. The tier of race determines how many abilities you can have and if you have six slots but only three abilities intrinsic to a race there must be a way to gain more. And both Spells and Skills should be the same but possibly linked to class and its level or rarity.

His thoughts shifted as he felt water slide over his feet, looking out at the dark water he realised that there may be magically induced tides or something. Scanning the rock wall behind him he saw patches of wet moss and algae. That indicated that water was there frequently and for some time.

Looking around the small beach for an easy climb he sighed before walking to the rock wall and gripping an outcrop with a stronger fist.
