Chapter 3: Innocence of children

Three and half years passed in a blink of an eye.

Inside the room on the second floor of Little Voices Home orphanage, an angel-like kid lay on top of a small bed sleeping in peace. After years, the Bo became even cuter as now, had shiny black hair, long eyelashes mixed with big pearl-like eyes along her pale white skin mixed with baby fat and angel-like face make anyone who saw her wish to take her away.

In front of the bed stood another kid who seems about four or five years old doing a simple push-up. The girl has olive skin, short unkempt white hair, sharp crescent eyes with thick eyelashes, and an almost nonexistent pupil as a sign of her blindness.

With her intense and unsettling gaze, the girl possessed an unapproachable and threatening aura that opposite of her little sister Bo. This girl was Layla, who is now four years old.

"Hup! well, today's is enough for now."

Said Layla stood up from the ground and begun to change her clothes to the new ones while putting the previous one in the bag for washing. It has been three years passed since she appeared in this world.

She named Layla by Ma and other children in the orphanage cause of her un-changing grumpy look. Which something Layla herself has done to herself by practicing the mantra of Monk Fist too early. As a child, Layla got nothing to do except eating, sleeping, and shitting, trained the mantra of Monk Fist during her free time for three years. The training led to enhancing her senses and mind while suppressing her emotions by some.

But thanks to her practice mixed with her demi-god constitution, after some training later Layla can sense her surroundings and move without difficulty in a normal situation. But still, it doesn't change that she can't distinguish color or anything that written and painted on the surface.

She wanted to practice Monk Fist for self-defense, but she understood heavy training for her right now will only make things worse. It would even damage her growth as well.

That is why Layla decided to do a small daily exercise to make her body fit and healthy. Practice simple stances and techniques in short rep.

Right now, she finished a small part of her training and waiting for Bo to wake up.

"Ugnn~."

With a soft groan, little Bo stood and rubbed her eyes. Then she slowly slides back to her bedsheet.

"Oh no, you don't. Bo, don't you remember?"

Sensing Bo, slowly turning back to the little sleepy roll, Layla quickly pulled her out of her blanket and begun to dress her.

"Bmber ?"

"Yes, remember today your big bro and sis gonna take us out."

"Out?"

"Yes, out."

'In really both four years old and three years old should be crying but oh well.' Layla shook her head in thought.

While dressing Bo, Layla sensed the footsteps of the kid climbing upstairs. Judging by the way, their foot move seems they are trying to make less noise as possible not interrupt the rest of old Ma sleeping in her room.

"Oh, what a good big sister, dressing your small sister at this age. Many times better than some sister I know." Kids entered the room right after Layla finished dressing up Bo.

"Ah, shut it," Lin said knowing, where those sentences aimed towards.

"Layla, Bo! let's go out. Old Ma needs some resting time." Brother Fei carried Bo on his back.

"Layla, take your big sis's hand." Said Lin held hands with Layla with that group of children led by Fei and, Lin left the orphanage.

"Let's go to the park."

With a smile, kids left the orphanage and moved towards a small park in the neighborhood district.

On its way, Layla sensed and took mental note in her head about its surroundings. It was a little bit different than what Layla imagined about the place where an orphanage like Little Voices Home exists.

"Big sis Lin where are we ?" Layla asked while passing the road sign.

"We are in district 9 in Beijing."

Hearing the answer, Layla quickly understood she is in the city where the main character starts his story. But thanks to the system, she can prepare for his arrival beforehand.

In the afternoon, the group finally arrived at the neighborhood park. At the center of the park, there is a small fountain surrounded by kids and small-time peddlers, artists, and a food stand. Surrounding air looked peaceful people doing their own things.

Sadly things turned grumpy when they saw a familiar group of kids.

"Those beggars again."

"Fucking shit stain, can't they find another place to beg ?"

"I am out the face of those beggars made me lose appetite."

Immediately they were bombarded by all kinds of insult alongside with a look of disgust. Especially Layla, even she wanted or not hears all of them, even more, better thanks to her senses.

From days she spent in an orphanage along with those people's talks Layla already knows during his stay that bastard sends kids outside for begging money. Of course, as human scum, he will take all money they got and if the kid arrives with no money or refuse as 'punishment' he will beat or left the kid outside of the building.

Afraid of being beaten and spend the night outside, of course, kids will do everything they can to get money ranging from acting cripple, singing to beg some money, or stealing at worst. Due their action led them to be dissed by everyone in a neighboring district.

Kids wanted to refute but they know it will not change they done this.

'Sign~. The world is cruel.' thought Layla.

"Burd! Pretty turd!" A single cute sound of a child lessened the sad air surrounding the group.

Hearing the small Bo's word they looked at a pretty bird drawn by black ink beside of painter.

"Heh, Bo it is a bird, not a turd."

Kids began to laugh again little girls stutter. Yeah, in the end, why should they even care about people who didn't help them in the first place when in need.

"Oh, it is a crane." Gathering around the draftsman, kids get a closer look at the man's drawing. The drawing doesn't require art knowledge to know it is a pretty one.

"It is really, pretty."

Of course, it is was even more effective on girls who like cute and beautiful things. Except for Layla as someone who lives her second life, she has seen her fair share of pretty pictures and birds. But more importantly, she just doesn't want to tire her eyes out by squinting hard to see a picture.

"See Layla. OH!"

"Oh..."

"Whoa....idiot."

In excitement, one kid tried to show the picture to little Layla but his sentence immediately cut short as he realized his mistake.

"No." While in deep thought, Layla answered unconditionally causing things awkward again. It took her a moment to realize the situation.

'Damn, me and this mouth again.'

Layla really hated this side of her that answers things without any afterthought.

"It's okay Layla, it is not that good picture anyway right ?"

"Yeah, it is not even colored."

"Also, there is some stain in someplace here and there."

To make their little sis feel better kids began to speak all kinds of bad things about the picture even pointing mistakes didn't even notice one who was drawn in the first place.

Of course, they didn't know how their innocent words cutting the fragile pride draftsman who is sitting beside his work with a very ugly face.
