Magik - PROLOGUE THREE
Attention!
Sometime within the next 6 months, you children will be inaugurated into the system. Your cores will finalize its synthesis, be you Human, Elf, or Dwarf.
You will be able to ingress magik to develop yourself. You will be able to access your interface to improve yourself.
You will be able to consume dungeon gems and you will be able to advance your classes.
You will be able to contribute to your society and civilization at large, in whatever way you deem appropriate for yourself.
We are here today to prepare you for that inevitable.
To my left, I have an example of the general interface that us sentient races have access to, albeit they will differ on your class and responsibilities.
Name | Race | Level
John Doe : Human : 7 (450/700)
Traits:
[Chivalrous]
[Alert]
[Responsible]
Classes | Skills
[Junior Guard 3]
Skills: [Heavy armor proficiency LV 3], [Sword proficiency LV 5], [Shield proficiency LV 5], [Apprehend LV 3], [Summon Arms LV 3], [Call To Arms LV 1]
[Squire 4]
Skills: [Heavy armor proficiency LV 3], [Sword proficiency LV 5], [Shield proficiency LV 5], [Insight LV 3], [Riding LV 5], [Block LV 3], [Strike LV 4]
The list of traits you can choose from inauguration depends on you, your heritage, and your race. For Elves, they will always have the [Nature Proficiency], [Forest Eyes], or [Keen Mind] traits for selection. Dwarves will also always have [Earth Proficiency], [Ore Sense], or [Scaled Hide] in their lists. Humans, however, get 2 choices with 1 trait seemingly randomly assigned, as far as we are aware. So everyone can select 2 additional traits; please remember, these traits do NOT define who you are. They will, however, help you if you choose to follow in their steps. Someone [Chivalrous], like our John Doe, does not, and usually will not, follow any of the urges given to him by the trait. There is no harm. However, if he does, such as, save someone in distress due to his sense of chivalry, he will most likely receive far more magik to progress himself from the feat. Since our John Doe is a Human, he was able to select 3 inborn traits. He chose [Alert], [Responsible], and [Chivalrous], either through his own choices or at the suggestion of his parents or guardians.
Now, skills on the other hand are different. These depend on your [Class], which you will also be able to select on your inauguration day, and I highly suggest you select as soon as possible. Unlike traits, which are immutable and can only be upgraded through various difficult means, classes are very mutable as well as changeable. Take our John Doe here again; he had selected [Squire] on his inauguration, was able to advance that by 3 stages, and then he was accepted into the guard where he was granted access to the [Junior Guard] class. Every time you advance a stage, or level as most people call it, you will be able to advance one of your classes. You will also be able to change your classes at each of your egress points, namely after you have advanced your total level by 5.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
John Doe here started off with [Squire 1] where he started with 3 basic proficiency skills and 1 advanced skill, [Insight]. He advanced this class thrice to [Squire 4] and after each advancement he was given the ability to select a new [Skill]. Once he reached his egress point, he selected the [Junior Guard] class. Now, you will notice that his new class has the same proficiencies as his old one. This is not a mistake he made; rather, it will help him improve his proficiencies faster and be able to perform combat both in ranks of other guards or duels with his fellow squires. If you look over to my right, you will see a breakdown of John Doe's progression till today:
Inauguration Day:
Total Level (TL) 1, selected [Squire 1], gained proficiencies [Heavy armor], [Sword], and [Shield], gained skill [Insight]
After training at the Knight academy for the next 3 years:
TL 2, selected [Squire 2], gained skill [Riding]
TL 3, selected [Squire 3], gained skill [Block]
TL 4, selected [Squire 4], gained skill [Strike]
After enlisting and then receiving training from the Guard:
TL 5, selected [Guard 1], increased proficiencies for [Heavy armor], [Sword], and [Shield], gained skill [Apprehend]
TL 6, selected [Guard 2], gained skill [Summon Arms]TL 7, selected [Guard 3], gained skill [Call To Arms]
Finally, I want to explain how John Doe was able to advance his class. Being a Human, he had his inauguration at the age of 10. He then proceeded to attend the Knight Academy where he was tutored in combat and the specific methods to ingress magika for his particular class.
Every time he understood something about his class, increased his proficiency in his skills, or followed the instincts from his traits, he was able to ingress more of the magika in his surroundings.
You could say that the pool available to him grew and gave him more space. This affected how his body developed, how his strength improved, his reflexes, his instincts to combat. Your interface will tell you the amount of magika you will need to ingress and be able to sustain an advancement, which is typically 100 points times your current total level.
Once you are at full ingression, you will have a choice. Delve into a dungeon, whether it be [Wild] or [Curated], and find a dungeon gem from slaying [Monsters] that reside there; you can also compete in local competitions that award a gem, or even smash your neighbor's pots, its happened before. Any number of activities can seemingly produce a dungeon gem and let you advance to the next point of your lives.
Or, you can choose to develop your skills further and hold on any form of advancement. If you continue to develop yourself at full ingression, you will be able to take the excess magika and produce magika gems instead; although the quality of it will depend on the amount of magika you have taken in. For you all, I suggest you simply continue to advance as much as possible or follow the guidance of your parents and teachers.
Thank you for listening to my primer on preparing our youth so that they may contribute to society. Please remember though that this is just a superficial touch on a broad topic that you will continue to learn about throughout your life.- public and mandatory inauguration recording broadcasted throughout all the connected cities of The Triplets every 6 months.
