After the discovery of a stash of unusual erotica in his quarters, Roland is expelled from the library-fortress that he called home all of his life. Forced to find his way in the world of Relmgard, a beautiful woman soon draws him into a conspiracy targeting a group of legendary heroes. At every turn, Roland finds that the tired fantasy premises he once thought governed the land have been exhausted. In their place are rulers more interested in vice, perversion, and self-gratification. To survive, Roland must rely on his book smarts, quick thinking, and a newfound talent for seemingly useless magical spells.
