In the kingdom of the elves, deep in the forest, there is a house whose youngest resident tosses and turns wildly in her bed, seemingly immersed in a deep nightmare.
A white glowing orb appears above her bed and enters her body through unknown methods. After the orb enters, she jolts awake, heavily panting and covered in sweat.
She breathes deeply, holding her chest tightly in an attempt to calm herself down.
With her figure no longer covered by the sheets, it is plain to see the beauty of the young elf.
Pink hair that cascades down her back, which is currently frayed from the nightmare, a pair of long, pointy ears each with its own piercing hole in the lobe, a pair of gray, downturned eyes, the only real blemish on her face being her annoying case of dry lips.
Her skin was white and without any blemishes, and her body was slim but still showed the slightest amount of muscle, showing that while she was not too physically active, she was enough to get some bulk.
Her proportions, plain to see from her only clothing being her undergarments, were what you would expect from an elf… that is, almost lacking. Her breasts, while not nonexistent, would never grow beyond being a small bump, her butt at least was more normal. This did not lessen her beauty though, since elves are known throughout the world for their unparalleled beauty. However, it's better if we ignore their haughtiness, also being a usual trait of elves.
‘I feel… weird’ She thought. There was definitely something new inside her, she had never felt so… whole
All of her life, she has always been aloof. Nothing ever excited her, it wasn't that she found everything boring, but she just couldn't feel anything. Reading, music, friendship, fighting, magic, anything that she tried was met with an absolute lack of reaction from her. Even at birth, where she normally would have been crying as most babies do, she didn't.
But now it was different, she could feel.
It was clearly evident by the confusion and slight shock because of the recent event, feelings that were slowly transitioning to happiness.
“Ha… haha… hahaha! Is this how it feels to “feel”? I feel… great!” She exclaimed, throwing her arms up in the air. Without thinking too much, she stood, grabbed a blanket to cover herself, and went to her balcony.
From here she could overlook a big part of Ylhelin, one of the many cities of the kingdom of elves. “Beautiful…” was what she thought of the sight.
The city could be described as “one with nature”. It had that classic elf feeling one would see in your classic fantasy story. All of the houses were up in the trees, with bridges connecting the whole city so as not to disturb the wildlife in the ground. The houses were made of wood, one would think the sight would be too boring with the same color for every building, but every single one was painted with different shades of white and blue. Each house was illuminated by a magic lamp at the front door, making for a light spectacle that was a sight for the eyes.
Before, she wouldn't have been able to describe this sight as this was “only a city” in her eyes, but with her soul finally whole, this sight brought to her so many emotions that it was overwhelming.
This was the night the souls of elven girl Kilyn Cairieth and 21st-century man Logan Hess merged into one…
Her sudden outburst in the middle of the night woke up her parents, who were curious about why their usually silent kid suddenly decided to be loud.
What they found was their kid in her room doing a strange dance while singing in an unidentifiable language… In her underwear.
She was singing “Asi es la vida” by Glup!
Ciliren Cairieth, the mother, hastily threw her husband out of the room, then kept silently watching her daughter.
She seemed different, her usual poker face nowhere to be seen, replaced by a gleeful smile that only grew wider once she noticed her presence. “Mom!” She said, tackle-hugging her in a never-before-seen sign of affection.
“I..Is something wrong, dear?” The worried mother asked her daughter.
“No, I feel great! Never felt better in my life!” The daughter replied with a massive smile on her face.
Stolen novel; please report.
“"I-I see… you just seem different… more lively? A-Anyway, it's still the middle of the night, you'll wake up the neighbors if you keep singing. We'll talk in the morning." The still worried mother said, before turning around and going back to her room, leaving the still hyperactive Kilyn alone in her room.
‘I guess I should sleep, I can think about what happened later…’ She moved back to her bed and face-planted on her pillow.
“...”
“......”
“... There's no way I can go back to sleep after this!” She yelled, her voice muffled by the pillow.
—@--
After a much-needed night's sleep, she found herself the first one to awake in her house, which gave her time to think about her situation.
‘I’m Kilyn Cairieth… And also Logan Hess… Kind of’ Her identity was a weird topic. While she knew that at the current moment, she was supposed to be Kilyn, deep inside her she also felt like Logan.
In simple terms, she had an identity crisis.
“Nghhh.. Ughhh… AHHHH WHATEVER! I’m Kilyn now!” And the identity crisis was solved swiftly.
It was made easier by the fact that she did not have any attachments to her old world. While she was living a decent life, she did not have many friends, and the ones she had she didn’t have a big attachment to, her parents had died years prior, and the rest of her family didn’t pay any attention to her.
Surprisingly enough, she was not depressed. Most of these things happened when she was a child, so they did not register in her mind enough to be damaging.
‘Why do I feel like I know this world… Bah, it's probably nothing’
Next on the list, is what to do from now on. ‘Easy enough. Magic School’
In this world, you complete your basic education during the first 15 years of your life, after that, you can join the workforce or pursue higher education. One of these institutes of higher education is the Pauforths School of Magics, where the students learn everything about magic.
Normally, getting into one of these schools is incredibly hard, and astronomically expensive for your average commoner, but there are exceptions, one of them being individuals with strange or especially powerful magical affinities, and she is the holder of a rare magic.
Each person is born with an affinity for a certain type of magic, and while they can learn to cast other types, they will never be able to attain the same level of mastery as someone born with the affinity.
The main types of magic in this world are the standard Water, Fire, Earth, and Wind, but there are also other, more unique types of magic that one can only use if they are born with the ability.
Light and Dark magic are, out of these unique types, the more common ones, more commonly seen in the angel and demon races, but there are even more rare ones.
Time, dreams, memories, emotions, aroma, physics, the possibilities are endless.
Kilyn is one of the incredibly rare holders of space magic. If one were to go by the books, then she is the only person to have ever been born with this affinity.
‘Space magic… isn’t this really versatile?’ It is.
If she has an image of the location and a general idea of where it is, then she can make a portal leading to that place, she can make pocket spaces to store large amounts of objects in tiny spaces, manipulate the space around people or objects, letting her move them around without physical contact, encasing a certain space to not let anything inside or out… In simpler terms, Space magic is cheating.
Kilyn watched the space in front of her. “...” Suddenly, a rift appeared. It was a circle with borders glowing purple and the center was pure black. ‘A portal in the air, just above my house…’ The black of the portal changed into an image of the forest, and between the leaves was the house, barely visible in the night. “Hmm…” She analyzed her work. It could still get some fine-tuning, the image was blurry, the portal changed sizes way too regularly for it to be safe for human transportation, and maintaining it was taking a toll on her mind.
‘I still have around half a year before the entrance exam, so I should have enough time to prepare…’
Thanks to her rare magic, she was offered a place in the Pauforths School of Magics free of charge for her whole 4-year stay, which was perfect since she didn’t have the money to apply by herself. ‘I still have to pass the exam though…’
Pauforths has a long history of education in the human kingdom of Lailapis, over 1000+ years of history, and is considered the most prestigious school of magic in the whole world. ‘Convenient’ She thought. With this scholarship, she has her life set.
Another thought came to her mind, weapons.
While Pauforths is a school of magic, they encourage the usage of weapons since one can only use as much magic as they have mana, once they are out, mages are sitting ducks.
There’s also the fact that objects can work as pathways for magic to flow, making the usage of spells faster and more mana-efficient.
The more common weapons used by mages are swords and bows, especially because there are classes dedicated to the usage of these weapons. But why would she limit herself to those options when she has the perfect weapon inside her mind?
“Firearms… Hehe…. Hehehe… That sounds perfect!”
Standing up from her bed, she walked up to her desk and started sketching. ‘I’ll have to start from almost zero… I’m not that knowledgeable in guns, but that’s okay. I have time.’ And so, she planned. What type of gun would she make, the ammunition? ‘Magic stones! I can make bullets using magic stones imbued with elements! How would a space bullet work? How about combinations! Fire and wind… Earth and Water…. Space and Fire… I should also think about a secondary weapon… A combat knife? A bayonet? Dagger? Though it would only be needed in special cases. Why would I need to use my secondary weapon if I never run out of bullets? Pocket space…’
If one were to enter her room, they would encounter the frightening sight of an elf creepily laughing, a wide smile on her face.
‘Maybe I should come back later…’ Ciliren thought, leaving her daughter to… whatever she was doing.
