Chapter 241 – Flavia Versus Narias

Chapter 241 – Flavia Versus Narias

“Aren’t you two looking cute?” Ranga commented upon seeing Narias and Flavia, with Flavia being glued to Narias’s side. “You might give the spectators the wrong impression here. You know you are here to fight each other, don’t you?”

“Of course, coach,” Flavia grinned her widest smile, not letting go of Narias’s arm.

“Ahahaha!” Ranga laughed out loud. “Well, show me the results of your training, Flavia.”

“For sure, coach,” Flavia added, flexing her free arm and becoming pumped before her and Narias stepped into the arena.

“You know… I don’t exactly want to fight my own girlfriend, Flavia,” Narias said, rubbing the back of his head with one hand.

“Hey, this is a tournament and you better give it your all, partner, because I will,” Flavia declared, pointing her finger at Narias.

“Yes, ok,” Narias said, waving his hands in front of him.

Sigh… I’ll just try to throw her out of the arena instead of fighting her. Narias thought to himself.

“All participants have arrived. Are you ready?” Ranga was about to give the signal to fight.

“Alright! Here I go. Anima-“ Flavia dropped on the ground on all fours, her body starting to bulge up.

“Eh?” Narias gasped, not expecting for her to do that.

“-Transformation!” Flavia finished her sentence, the muscles on her body tensing up, with the fur on her arms and legs growing longer and thicker too.

Wait, she’s using her transformation ability from the very start? Narias’s plan to throw Flavia out of the arena was about to be busted.

“Begin!” Ranga shouted.

“Hah!” Flavia shot forward from her spot, the ground cracking, dirt and stones blasting to the sides from under her feet, Flavia darting forward like an arrow shot from a bow. “Yaa!” – ‘Swoosh!’ –

“Boost! Wind Burst!” Flavia’s kick raised a gust of wind, with Narias just barely escaping it. He jumped up as high as he could without thinking which direction he should dodge the moment Flavia’s visage disappeared and reappeared almost in front of him the next second. In the heat of the moment, he jumped much higher than he thought he would too, over twenty feet up in the air, if not higher.

She IS serious! Narias thought the moment he saw how powerful Flavia’s kick was.

“I’m here, partner!” Flavia appeared in front of Narias who was yet to fall down to the ground after his jump. “Haa!” Flavia curled forward before doing a somersault in the air, extending her right leg to land a somersault kick on Narias.

“Wind Shield!” – ‘Smash!’ - Narias was quick to react, but Flavia’s somersault kick was so strong, it smashed the magic shield into pieces, her kick sending Narias back down to the ground.

“Wind Burst!” Narias used several of his spells to slow down his fall, so he wouldn’t get hurt by falling. If not for Narias blocking her kick by covering his head with both hands earlier, he might’ve been done for right now.

“I’m just getting started, partner! Ha! Ya! Hah!” Flavia unleashed a machinegun of blows using her fists, with Narias not able to do anything else, but back away with the help of his Wind Burst spells, so he wouldn’t be reached. “Where do you think you’re going? Haa!” Flavia ducked down before leaping forward, sliding on the ground and proceeding with the low swipe kick in an attempt to knock Narias off his feet.

“Woah!” Narias exclaimed, not being able to feel the ground under his feet.

“Got you!” Flavia was right next to his side the following moment, about to smash her fist into his stomach before Narias’s body hit the ground after she swiped him off his feet.

“Hah,” Narias grinned, his palms being right in front of Flavia’s face. “Fire…”

“Shoot!” Flavia flinched, realizing what was about to happen.

“…Blast!” Narias finished casting his spell, a fiery explosion erupting right where Flavia was standing just now. “Ugh…” Narias fell on the ground on his back right after.

Sorry, Flavia. Was his next thought in his head.

“Nice, you almost got me there, partner,” but then he heard Flavia speak some distance away, looking safe and sound.

Wow, she’s so fast. Narias was impressed.

“You really caught me off guard there, Flavia. I never expected you to use your Anima-Transformation ability from the very beginning,” Narias spoke to her.

“I told you to take it seriously, partner,” Flavia said, hunching down, Narias knowing she was about to dash at him again.

“Fire Wall!” But he didn’t wait for that to happen. Wide and tall flames rose from the ground, separating Narias and Flavia. “Oh no, you don’t!” He added.

“Oh yes, I will! Haya!” Flavia darted forward into the flames anyway, swiping at it with a powerful kick and raising a gust of wind which blew so strong it made an opening inside the raging wall of flames, Flavia slipping through it the moment it opened.

Wow, no way! Narias exclaimed in his head, being more impressed than shocked.

“Wind Shield! Fireball!” But he had no time staying impressed and had to defend himself fast.

“Hah! Oops,” Flavia smashed through the magic shield with her fist, leaping to the side to avoid Narias’s Fireball next before pushing herself forward again in an attempt to reduce the distance between herself and Narias.

“Wind Pressure Blast. Wind Burst. Fire Wall!” But Narias didn’t wait for her to reach him. He used his spells to get away by running closer to the middle of the arena and raising another flaming wall in between them.

“Hey, you should know by now that your Fire Wall can’t stop me, partner! Haah!” Flavia used her fist this time, a forward gust of wind blowing a hole inside the flames so she could slip through. “Huh?” But she was met with a surprise right after.

“Got you,” Flavia heard Narias say, noticing I sly grin on his face too.

“Eh, what?” Flavia exclaimed, seeing she was now trapped in between two other walls of fire from both sides, with the hole behind her being closed already.

“Auto Bullets!” Narias shot a barrage of Wind Bullet spells at Flavia the moment she dashed through the hole she had made inside the Fire Wall.

“Not happening, Haaah!” Flavia ducked down before pushing herself up using both, her feet and her hands, the ground crumbling under her as she jumped up in order to escape Narias’s attack. But Narias anticipated her to do that, so he aimed his Auto Bullets spell higher. However, Narias hasn’t anticipated for Flavia to be as fast as she was, so most of his shots missed her, but it didn’t matter, because Narias wasn’t done yet.

“Phew, that was close,” Flavia let out a sigh of relief, looking at the raging flames down below from above. She had jumped really high this time, over thirty feet up.

“Hi,” she suddenly heard Narias greeting from behind her.

“Ah, crap,” Flavia exclaimed, her eyes widening, Flavia knowing she had made a mistake to let her guard down like that.

“Wind Pressure Blast!” Narias cast his spell.

“Whaaa!” Blasting Flavia way forward.

Narias had placed his hands on Flavia’s body before casting his spell, so the blast would be more powerful. They were high enough in the air for Narias’s spell to throw Flavia out of the arena and that was his plan all along.

“Hey, that’s not fair!” Flamiris declared, jumping from her seat.

“Huh?” Ileena was taken by surprise, hearing Flamiris burst out like that all of a sudden. “I think that was a great move on Narias part. I believe throwing Flavia out of the arena was his aim from the very beginning.”

“That’s… not what I meant. He could’ve placed his hands somewhere else instead of on Flavia’s butt,” Flamiris explained the reason behind her complain. “Now I’m not the only one who Narias did it to, humph.”

“The only one? Oh,” Ileena said, squinting her eyes for some reason.

Narias had put an extra effort to make sure his Wind Pressure Blast was strong enough, in addition to casting his spell in a way so he would be blasted more downwards while Flavia would be blasted more upwards to make sure she would definitely be thrown out of the arena while he wouldn’t. He still cast several of his Wind Burst spells right after to adjust and soften his fall.

That should’ve done it. He thought, landing on the ground, close to the edge of the other side of the field.

“Haaa… ya! HAA!” Suddenly, Narias heard Flavia’s voice before he could see where she landed.

“What?! No way!” Narias exclaimed, seeing Flavia land just a foot away from the edge of the arena on the opposite side.

With how powerful Narias’s spell was, and how well he timed it, Flavia would’ve been definitely thrown out of the arena. However, the moment Flavia saw she had flown past the edge of the field, realizing she’d land outside of it, she used her right leg to kick into the air, the power of her kick creating a gust of wind which Flavia used to push herself back by kicking at it again with her other foot and throwing herself back into the field, so she wouldn’t land outside of it. It was as unbelievable as it was amazing to see her do that and the spectators loved it. Those who were watching the fight, jumped to their feet to cheer Flavia on.

“Heee,” Flavia showed a happy grin, hearing all the cheers.

“Woah! That was amazing, Flavia,” Narias couldn’t help but be impressed with what she had just done.

“Hah, I told you that you won’t be able to throw me out of the arena, partner,” Flavia declared, feeling very happy about herself and about Narias complimenting her too.

“Wow, you must’ve been training really hard,” Narias added, showing a smile.

“I know what you’re trying to do here, partner, but don’t worry, I can keep my Anima-Transformation up for almost ten minutes now and we have been fighting for about five so far, so I still have plenty of time left to win,” Flavia stated confidently, taking a stance to get back into the fight.

“Ok…” Narias said, his face showing Flavia busted yet another of his plans which was to stall for time and have Flavia’s Anima-Transformation ability to end.

{at the teacher’s lounge}

“My grandson sure has style,” Grandpa Yojee said, brushing his whiskers and having a very satisfied smile on his face.

“It was a good plan, but unfortunately it didn’t work,” said Estella, her eyes not leaving the field where Narias and Flavia were.

“I see you haven’t changed at all from the last time I saw you, Mister Yojee,” Milenna said, adding a chuckle.

“You have to use every opportunity to- ouch,” Grandpa Yojee’s words were interrupted by a smack on the head by his wife’s tail. “To win… I wanted to say to win, dear.” He added, rubbing the spot on the head where he got smacked at. In all honesty, Grandpa Yojee would’ve been able to evade his wife’s smacks if he wanted to, but more often than not, he chose not to.

“Grandpa…” Estella sank her head into her right hand’s palm, finally realizing what he was actually trying to say.

“I wonder… It didn’t look like it hurt… much. Hmm…” Milenna commented, tilting her head to the side and touching her voluptuous lips with her fingers.

“Eh? Mi… Milenna, you?” Estella lifted her head up, turning to look at her.

“What? I’m just saying,” Milenna added with a gleeful smile.

“Hmph…” Estella probably wanted to say something, but closed her mouth instead, pressing her lips tight with her cheeks catching a charming red.

“Hmm… hm…” Jean’s giggle was heard the next moment, the headmistress pressing her hand against her lips, so she wouldn’t be too loud about it. “The match… I mean, the current matches are not yet over. Let’s continue watching to see who will win.” Jean added when she noticed everyone’s attention was on her.

{back at the arena}

“Here I go!” Flavia shot forward from her position, resuming the fight.

“Auto Bullets!” Narias responded by shooting rapid Wind Bullets at her.

“Haaaa!” Flavia leaped to the side, increasing her speed as she ran, so the Wind Bullets wouldn’t reach her.

“Fireball!” Narias shot several Fireballs next in an attempt to slow Flavia down, but she was fast enough to dodge them, also getting closer and closer to where Narias was.

“Alright, fight fire with fire as they say. Boost,” Narias changed tactics and dashed forward towards Flavia himself.

“Take that!” Flavia swung, using a roundabout kick to smack Narias.

“Wind Burst,” but Narias used his spell to redirect Flavia’s kick up and away from him after dropping down to the ground. “Firebla- agh!”

“Not so fast!” Flavia responded by dropping her left hand on the ground to regain her balance before kicking with her left foot up at Narias’s hand to redirect his Fireblast away from her. The exchange of blows followed.

“Wind Burst! Hah! Wind Shield! Ya! Wha… hah! Fire- No! Take that! Wind Burst!” Narias and Flavia were engaged in close combat, with Flavia throwing punches and kicks at him while Narias was doing everything he could to block or redirect Flavia’s attacks away, using his spells to help him. However, it looked like Flavia was gaining an upper hand slowly but steadily.

“Wind Burst! Fireblast!” Narias used his wind spell with one hand while his fire spell with the other, but Flavia was too fast for him to hit her. She ducked down once again, leaping to the side and was about to deliver a blow at Narias and it looked like he wouldn’t be able to dodge it this time. “Flamethrower!” As the last resort, Narias used his channelling spell while he spun around, the constant stream of flames creating a circle around him.

“Yikes!” Flavia had to jump away or else she would’ve been burned.

“That was close. Phew,” Narias spoke, letting out a sigh of relief.

“Nice move, but I’m about to win this, partner,” Flavia declared loudly and before Narias could respond, she leaned forward, clearly intending to do something amazing again while the fur on her body started to emit a golden glow. “Three Steps Dash.”

It looked like a trick, with Flavia jumping to her left and her right sides both at the same time and everyone who saw it gasped in disbelief. What happened was two more Flavias jumped out to the sides, with the first one staying right where she was.

Hey, that’s the same ability she use- Ah, crap! Narias was about to admire Flavia again, but he had to defend himself and fast.

“Boost! Fireblast! Huh? Agh! Wind Shield!” Before he knew it, three Flavias were upon him and there was very little Narias could do to fight them off. While he tried to defend against one of them, the other two were punching and kicking him the next second. Narias couldn’t triple himself like Flavia had done just now and he was slowly yet surely taking the beating from the three of them.

“Haa!” A punch was about to land on Narias from one of the Flavias.

“Wind Pressure Blast!” Narias cast his spell in a futile attempt to make some distance between himself and three Flavias. “Now, Whirlwi- huh?!”

“Got you!” One of the Flavia’s grabbed his left arm, stopping him from casting his spell.

“Hah, Whirl-” Narias tried casting his spell with his other hand.

“No, you don’t!” But the second Flavia grabbed his right arm from the other side before he could do so.

“Wha…” Narias was in a pinch, being held in place by two Flavias from both sides.

“This is the end!” The third Flavia was in full swing from the front.

“Humph,” Narias was able to bent his arms to cover his face. “No choice. Crysta…”

“Shatter Punch!” – ‘BAAM!’ – Narias was hit in the stomach, the power of Flavia’s punch creating a shockwave around them and blowing Narias away. A cloud of dirt and dust was raised as a result of it with two other Flavias disappearing on impact too. Nobody could distinguish what actually happened, other than see how hard Narias was punched in the stomach before he disappeared in a cloud of dust.

“Ugh… phew…” Flavia stumbled on her feet, trying to keep herself from falling, her Anima-Transformation ability finally starting to fade. “Hah, made it. Yahoo! I’ve won!” She cheered, throwing her right hand up in the air without waiting for the dust cloud to settle.

“Are you sure about that, Flavia?” Narias voice was heard from the dust cloud.

“Eek! What?!” Flavia couldn’t believe it when she saw Narias standing almost at the edge of the field, his hands still covering his face. The ground was ripped apart, leaving a crumbled line where Narias feet were touching it while he slid backwards after Flavia’s punch. “No… way…” Flavia’s jaw dropped.

{at the same time at the teacher’s lounge}

“What?!” Estella exclaimed, seeing Narias stand firm on both of his feet after the dust had settled.

“Phew… that made my heart jump. I’m so relieved to see my cutie being ok,” Milenna said, letting out a sigh of relief.

“He would’ve been ok either way thanks to the protective belt he has. My question is, how come it didn’t activate?” Estella couldn’t believe it.

“I am certain there was nothing wrong with the belt, which only means Flavia’s punch wasn’t life threatening,” Jean shared her opinion.

“Not life threatening? She could’ve punched a hole in Narias’s stomach with how powerful Flavia’s punch was,” Estella argued.

“I’m so proud of my grandson. His training has certainly paid off,” Grandpa Yojee commented, more so for being happy about what happened than speaking to someone in particular.

“Humph. At least now I know you two were actually training,” Grandma Fuuji added, pretending to be upset for some reason.

“But of course we were training. What else could’ve we been doing?” Grandpa Yojee asked, showing a very innocent facial expression.

“You really want me to answer that, you old, rascal?” Grandma Fuuji puffed her furry cheeks before avertin her face away.

“Ah, no need, no need my dearest,” Grandpa Yojee added jokingly.

“Grandpa, do you know what Narias did to survive Flavia’s punch just now?” Estella asked him, with the others turning towards Grandpa Yojee as well.

“Oh that. No need to be so hasty, Estella. Besides, I wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise, so let’s just watch to see what happens next,” Grandpa Yojee wasn’t about to spill the beans which in all honesty, Estella wasn’t exactly surprised about.

{back at the arena}

“How? How are you still standing, partner?” Flavia was aghast to see her boyfriend looked totally ok.

“You know, Flavia, our fight isn’t yet over,” Narias said, extending his right hand forward and showing he was ready to cast a spell.

“Eh? Ah, nooo…” Flavia cried out. With her Anima-Transformation ability ending, she was nowhere as strong as she was not that long ago and her body was tired now too. “Hah, I don’t know how you managed to survive my punch, but I am happy that you did, partner.”

“Huh? What?” Narias was at a mild loss because of what she said.

“Why do you look so surprised, partner? Did you actually think I would be happy if you lost against me? Humph,” Flavia told him, pouting her lips. “I’m a girl, remember? And girls have to be protected by their boyfriends. So, it should be a given that you should be stronger than me. Well done, Narias. You win.” Flavia added, sending him a wink too.

“Number eighteen has surrendered! Winner – number nineteen!” Ranga announced the result himself this time.

“Flavia,” Narias spoke to her after coming closer.

“It makes me happy you also kept your promise too, partner,” Flavia said, smiling at him.

“Promise?” Narias couldn’t remember what kind of promise he had made to her.

“Yes. You didn’t hit me even once during the whole fight,” Flavia told him, looking very happy about it.

“Oh, but I did. I used my Wind Pressure Blast to try and throw you out of the arena,” Narias pointed out after remembering it.

“That one doesn’t count,” Flavia said, a blush jumping on her cheeks. “Because… you know… that was just you gently slapping my butt.”

“Ah, ok…” Narias said, scratching his cheek and smiling sillily.

“One more thing,” Flavia spoke up.

“Yes, what is it, Flavia?” Narias asked, turning to look at her.

“Congratulations on your win, Narias,” she said, wrapping her hands around his neck and giving him a kiss. The crowd erupted with cheers upon seeing that, with a few girls and women pouting their cheeks in a slight envy too, but that was the last thing on Narias’s and Flavia’s minds at that moment.
