‘Am I dead?’ Darkness surrounded Jason on every side. He drifted… could what is happening to him even be called movement?
He didn’t know…
Jason only knew he was surrounded by darkness. Wether or not he was drifting through it was unknown to even him.
He couldn’t feel movement. Hell, he couldn’t feel anything.
‘That fucker Cain!’ Jason was furious. After all he’s done for that ungrateful bastard he went and betrayed him just like that.
‘Fuck… What now?’ His future prospects weren’t looking great with the darkness and all.
Just like that, Jason sat for who knows how long. If there was a concept of time it couldn’t be identified. Never ending darkness isn’t a great identifying for passing time.
Thoughts passed in and out of Jason.
’Is this hell?’ ‘When will it end?’ ‘What’s going to happen to me!?’ No one came to liberate Jason from his fears.
Jason reflected on his life. From a young age he turned to crime to help his parents, who at the time, were financially struggling.
After his mom left, his dad turned to alcoholism. Jason made the hard decision to leave at age sixteen to continue his “work.”
He built a life for himself. Unfortunately his life revolved around taking from others.
After networking and finding what he considered loyal subordinates he took a step into the large scale crime life.
Jason thought about many things. Specifically his relationships.
’Man… I can’t even say I’m sad about anyone… It makes sense I guess. I wasn’t the best role model to surround yourself with.’ Jason questioned his lifestyle. He questioned his philosophy of “help yourself because no one else will.” And everything else leading up to his death.
Then after what felt like eternity, something changed.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
’huh?’ Light. Beaming light.
The light was fabulous. Jason felt like a blind boy who had just seen the sun for the first time.
The light was liberating. It gave hope to Jason and was the answer to his pleas.
Even more liberating than the sight was the feeling.
‘I can feel!’ Not only touch, but all of Jason’s senses came back to him. He could taste his saliva, smell the surprisingly clean air, hear the doctors.
‘The doctors?’ Jason could hear the doctors. What did that mean?
’That means I’m alive!’ Although it was quite obvious with his senses coming back he was still surprised.
in fact it seemed even the doctors were surprised.
”He’s alive! We’ve brought him back!” His words were like music to Jason’s ears. Cheers resounded around Jason.
‘Others are here? That was a woman’s voice. What would a woman be doing here?’ Jason’s relationship with his girlfriend wasn’t what one would call healthy. She was there for money and he was there for her looks. Primarily because he wasn’t a great person to particularly anyone.
What confused Jason was the fact that the language the doctor spoke was foreign. Even more so than that, his ability to understand said language baffled him.
Jason decided to ask what was going on.
”Gaga?” Instead of a word, odd noises one would hear from a child came out.
”Gaga?” Perhaps in the pure joy Jason felt at being alive, or maybe even subconscious disbelief, Jason failed to realize he was a baby again.
His limbs were small and weak. His body miniature and tiny. His fingers barely larger than an inch!
He was… a baby?
It didn’t take long for a teary eyed women to come into view. That was after a strong and burly brown haired man picked him up.
‘Let go you fool! Put me down this instant!’ Jason's previous anger at Cain was all but forgotten. He felt pathetic and weak as all children would in his situation.
”My little boy…” a warm smile greeted Jason.
”Haha! You said I could name him if it was a boy!” The burly man from before chimed in, giving a cheeky smile.
“Alright dear.” The women gave a exaggerated sigh before a smile began to form on her face.
”My little boy… Jason!” The burly man yelled aloud.
‘…’ Jason was left in complete silence. He was still coming to terms with his new situation.
“I love it. Our little boy Jason.” The woman was happy beyond belief; mostly due to her baby being alive.
Just like that Jason’s life as a child began.
Life was… simple.
Instead of dealing with the stress of running a “business” Jason could relax.
The lack of anything did keep him anxious but ultimately a break was nice.
He no longer had to watch over his shoulder. He no longer feared betrayal and jail.
Despite that, life still had its troubles.
“Honey! Jason dirtied himself!” Jason had absolutely no control over his boys.
Crawling was the limit of his ability, and his digestive system was out of his control.
’God this is humiliating.’ Being wiped down is not something anyone with any pride would want.
Jason didn’t know how to feel about his new parents.
He never had great parents himself and so the idea of parents never appealed to him.
’Maybe.. this can be my fresh start.’ Distracting himself from the pathetic scene of his mother cleaning him up, Jason looked to the future with a bright disposition.
