By the time morning came, everyone gathered on the veranda. Dax, Scarlet, and The Banana Man were carrying all of their belongings with them in makeshift sacks, but they didn’t have much more than the clothes on their back and a few items they had taken from the house. Dax wearing his black tunic, Scarlet in a sparkly red dress, which she had torn a slit into so she could hike, and The Banana Man who had a handful of bananas ready for the road.
Rava stuffed the faucet into her bag, which she had made out of a tablecloth. She still wore her nightgown and slippers, but she had added extra padding to her slippers to make it easier for her to walk.
“All right. Everybody ready?” she asked.

They all nodded and started down the front steps.
“Now hold on just a second,” Dave said, stepping onto the veranda.
“Don’t try and stop us. We made up our minds,” Dax said.
“I ain’t gonna stop ya. I just wanna know if you’ll still let me come along.”
Rava looked up at Dave and saw he was wearing a bag over his shoulder.
“I didn’t think you’d change your mind,” Scarlet said.
“Yeah, well, I don’t know if it’s the Bastard makin’ me do it, or I truly have free will, but I just couldn’t stand the thought of bein’ here all by myself again. So whaddya say. Got any room for an old coot like me in this party?”
“Hi Dave, would you like a Banana?”
Dave took the banana from The Banana Man and they all set off into the forest together.
