Lysandra opened her eyes, feeling a cool sensation on her skin. As she looked around, she saw a group of maids caring for her. "Who?" Lysandra sputtered with a dry throat.
“Madam, she’s awake,” one maid shouted to an elegant woman. “Thank you, Cynthia,” the woman replied. “How are you feeling, my dear?” Her words carried a soothing tone.
“W…where am I?” Lysandra muttered, her throat dry.
“You’re safe with me, I promise. Don’t worry, child,” the woman assured her. “Which family do you come from, so I can help you get back to them?”
Lysandra looked confused at the woman’s question and then spoke, “The Nightworth clan. My name is Lysandra Nocturne, ma’am,” she said in a shaky voice. As she said this, a maid gave her a cup of water to soothe her throat.
“Okay then, Lysandra. I’ll help you return to your family. Rest for a little while, whilst I find out what has happened,” the lady said calmly. “Oh, how old are you, child?”
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
“I’ve just turned ten not long ago,” Lysandra replied, speaking as respectfully and maturely as possible, sensing a regal aura emanating from the lady.
“Perfect,” the lady smiled. “I have a daughter your age who can come and keep you company.” She motioned to a maid to bring her daughter.
After a few moments, the tent opened and a girl around Lysandra’s height walked in. “Mother, you called for me?” she asked.
“Yes, dear. This is Lysandra Nocturne from the Nightworth clan. Could you keep her company while we locate her family to return her?”
“Nightworth clan, really? So, what bloodline are you? I’ve never met you before, so you’re not from the first, I know that for sure,” the girl said with a hint of arrogance. Suddenly, a chop came down with a thud on the girl’s head. She turned and cried, “Mother! Why?”
“Behave yourself, Seraphina,” the lady admonished.
Seraphina lowered her head. “Yes, sorry, Mother.” She then turned to Lysandra. “Hello, my name is Seraphina. I apologize for how I spoke to you. I’m ten years old.”
“Hello, I’m Lysandra, and I’m also ten years old.” Lysandra bowed her head out of respect.
Just then, Lysandra heard Gracie speak to her. “To think you would meet that family here. Some luck you have.”
“What family, Gracie?” Lysandra asked. But just then, Seraphina spoke up. “So, Lysandra, why are you out in the woods at this time of night?”
“I’m on my way with my family to meet the royal family and the princess. I hope I can be friends with her because I’m not accepted by others from the clan. I look so different from everyone in my family, and my legacy is difficult to understand,” Lysandra explained. Seraphina’s lips formed a big smile, and she let out a little giggle.
