III - Kiddo

III - Kiddo

I descended the stairs slowly, reaching the hallway and passing by the picture frames.

I opened the door and there was sir Exios in the kitchen, cooking something.

I could smell the eggs and bacons that were being cooked.

As I walked near the counter-

"Morning kid! I am preparing breakfast, so sit down to a table and wait for me, okay?" He said as he was cooking, keeping a smile on his face.

I gazed at the moving pan and was motionless for a few seconds.

"Uhm… can I help with the drinks?" I asked him, as I wanted to help.

"Yeah, sure! Open the wooden container behind me and get a bottle of milk, then near the sink get two glasses. Can you do it?"

"Yes, I can." I started moving hastily.

Getting to open the container first, I looked around in search of a bottle of milk.

And I instantly noticed it, as the container was so well organized.

Near the bottle of milk there were other supply of foods as well.

I got the bottle of milk and closed the container, then I went to the sink to get two glasses.

After that, trying to get a hold of everything and walking slowly, as I was nervous to make anything fall down from my arms, I finally reached the table, to where I placed everything down.

After accomplishing a task, I felt satisfied.

I sat down and waited for sir Exios to finish.

After a few minutes he came with two plates with the smoke visible in the air.

He placed down the two plates, one in front of me and one in front of him.

In both plates there was two eggs, a bacon and bread.

My stomach began to growl, that even sir Exios heard it.

"Haha, you can eat now." He smiled.

"Thank you for the food." I grabbed the fork and started eating.

"Mhmm!" I made humming sound, an expression that meant satisfaction.

"Oh, you're not expressionless when it comes to food, huh." He teased me.

Sir Exios also started to eat, after watching me devour the food he prepared.

After finishing the two eggs, I started eating the bacon.

"Do you still not remember, kid?" He asked, while we were both eating.

I shook my head in response.

"Mhm, let's hope that head of yours can make your memories return. Otherwise, I will have to keep you here for a while, helping me with difficult chores and tasks. Haha." He grinned.

I knew he was joking, regardless I nodded to what he said.

I did not mind staying here and help him with anything he needed..

Sir Exios for a moment sat in silence, watching me eat.

Then he grabs the bottle of milk and pours it in to my glass, before pouring it in to his.

After finishing the bacon I drank the glass of milk.

"Kid, we are going outside today. I have to get some supplies and get you some clothes too.

After we finish eating, we will go right away, okay?"

Leaving the glass of milk half empty, I nodded.

As I was finishing the food, sir Exios just stood there watching me eat.

For a moment I think he even smiled, maybe he found it amusing that a little kid was devouring the food he prepared for her.

-----

I was ready to go outside.

I changed my clothes, since sir Exios told me to not go out with pajamas on.

I stood near the door, waiting patiently.

Creek

A door opened by sir Exios, who had changed his attire and was bringing, in one hand, two light bags made from cotton.

He walked towards me and stopped to hand me one of the bags.

"Take it, whenever you want something, put it in there and I'll pay it for you."

I took the bag and put it on my shoulders, which made the bag look bigger than it was, due to my size.

"Okay, are you all set?" He asked.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

"Yeah." I responded to him quickly, wanting to go outside already.

He smiled and grabbed the handle.

He turned it and opened the door which showed the street filled with crowds.

It was a really sunny day, so many had short sleeves on because of the heat.

I walked out of the tavern and looked at my surroundings.

"Woah, it's much noisy and lively from here." I murmured in amusement while staring at various people.

Some women had beautiful dresses on, while holding their fancy umbrellas.

I also noticed a family enjoying their time outside.

Kids running and playing around.

Click!

Sir Exios locked the door behind me and took a few steps before stopping in front of me.

"Stay near me, okay kiddo?"

I was still looking at the loud and bright street while nodding to what he said.

After he set foot, I followed him.

Sir Exios was tall and big, but due to my height and size, it seemed like I was running to him, rather than walking.

To me, he was making such big and quick steps.

I had to catch on, otherwise I would have lost sir Exios.

Well, even if I did lose him, maybe I would have still noticed him due to his enormous size.

It wasn't too long when I felt tiredness.

I briefly started becoming short-winded and made little noises gasping for air.

Sir Exios instantly looked behind him and stopped.

"Hey, kid." He crouched in front of me.

"You should have told me that I was going too fast. I did not notice, I am sorry." He caressed my back.

It took a few seconds to breathe normally again.

"Alright, I will let you walk in front of me. Take it easy. I will guide you, okay?" He stood up and waited for me to be ahead of him.

As I did, I kept walking normally, listening to sir Exios's directions, who was behind me.

I started feeling very responsible, as if I was a knight or something.

After a while sir Exios told me to stop and wait for him.

"Kiddo, stay behind me, i need to buy something from this shop." He said, but then halted for a moment.

"Or if you want, you can take a look around this shop or the shops near me. Do not go too far."

"Okay." I said in a slightly enthusiastic tone.

I wanted to check out some of the shops for a while.

Sir Exios could be easily seen, since the shops in this street were all open shops.

And so I decided to look around the stores nearby.

I wandered a bit and saw a shop that was selling papers, books and quills.

I went in front of the shop and looked at it carefully.

"Lovers… intima- "

"Hey! That is not made for kids- wait a minute, how are you capable to read?" The merchant selling the books suddenly noticed me.

I felt nervous as for a moment, the people who were In front of the shop, looked at me with a confused expression on their faces.

Not knowing what to do I just felt the need to run.

So I quickly took off.

I didn't hesitate to run off, but I didn't think through.

After a while I stopped to breathe.

I looked at my surroundings and there were still open shops with merchants selling their own thing.

But there was no sight of sir Exios.

I lost him.

"Ah… I lost sir Exios."

Then I remembered what sir Exios said earlier.

-

"Stay near me, okay kiddo?"

"Or if you want, you can take a look around this shop or the shops near me. Do not go too far."

-

I gave off a deep sigh and continued to observe my surroundings.

These shops were a little different from the ones I was at earlier.

As if they sell some high quality objects.

One shop was selling jewelries.

Another one was selling beautiful birds, trapped inside the cages.

I carefully kept walking while looking at the shops around me.

One shop caught my attention.

A shop selling exceptional flowers.

I went to that shop and looked at the flowers they were selling.

So many different flowers with different colors.

Some were vibrant, some were dull.

But all of them were so lovely.

Suddenly it made me remember the flowers I saw yesterday.

The meadow filled with purple flowers.

I couldn't really understand what type of flowers they were, but I was curious to know.

So, after a moment of taking the courage to speak, I asked the merchant.

"Excuse me." I said.

But it seemed like the merchant couldn't hear me.

"Excuse me!" I tried again, but this time It felt weird raising my voice.

But still, it wasn't enough.

I didn't bother to try anymore, as I was embarrassed.

"Hey! They need your assistance!" Someone shouted.

This time the merchant came hurriedly and excused themselves for not arriving quickly.

"Ah, yes. Would you like to buy?" The merchant asked, but he was not talking to me.

Rather, he was talking to the person who shouted at him.

"No, not me. She needs your assistance."

I looked at the person who said that.

A boy around my age, who had such fluttering golden hair and incredible green eyes.

He had a precious attire on, different from mine.

I bowed to the boy and looked at the merchant.

"Do you… sell purple flowers?" I asked.

"Oh, we have various kinds of purple flowers here. Which one would you like?" He showed me all kinds of purple flowers, but not the one I had in mind.

"Not these. Uhm… purple flowers that have thin long petals. As if they were spider legs." I looked at the merchant, waiting for his answer.

But suddenly-

"Oh. She is referring to the violet spider lily. The national flower of the Empire." The boy answered instead.

The merchant tried to look around his shop then came back.

"Sorry, kid. I still have to purchase another set of them, as I ran out of stock."

"Ah, no worries." I bowed to the merchant and said my goodbye.

As I was ready to walk away from the shop-

"Hey, do I know you?" Asked the boy.

I turned around to look at him, confused to the question.

He was waiting for my answer.

"I do not think so." I responded, then gradually leaving.

After that I walked aimlessly, hoping that I would notice a familiar tall figure.

Which was sir Exios, but there was no sight of him.

Walking around, admiring the shops and the ambient around me.

It wasn't that bad.

But then someone stopped me, grabbing my arm tightly.

I looked and saw a woman with short red hair and yellow eyes.

"You…" She murmured.

Leaving a disbelieving expression on her face.
