"Just one more day, just one more day," She whispered to herself, smiling as she glanced at the text on her phone: ("Where are you? We’re all waiting for you at the café. We already ordered your favorite, just waiting on you.") She slid her phone back into her purse and looked up at the sky. All my hard work is finally about to pay off, she thought. All the long hours of studying, sleepless nights—one more day, and I’ll have my degree in hand. I can finally practice medicine and become a full-fledged doctor. I can’t wait to give my parents the life they deserve. They worked so hard to put me through school, giving up their dreams just for me.
As she spotted the café in the distance, the crosswalk signal turned green. That took longer than usual, she thought as she began to cross the street. But in an instant, loud sound of music blasting from a distance. A group of teens, excited for the last day of school, were speeding through the intersection, completely ignoring the traffic light.
Just as she stepped into the road, she felt a hand grab her and pull her back sharply.
"HEY, WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!" someone shouted as the car sped through the intersection, narrowly missing her.
Luna looked down at her hand, then slowly raised her gaze to see who had saved her. Standing before her was a beautiful woman with honey-brown eyes hidden beneath a blue jean cap, her hair cut stylishly to her shoulders.
"Are you okay?"
"Umm, yeah... yeah, I’m fine. Thank you,
She smiled warmly. "Oh, it’s alright. Last day of school—these teens are out here driving like maniacs."
"Umm... is something on my face?" she asked with a curious smile.
I shook my head quickly. "No, no! I’m sorry, it’s just... you’re so pretty."
She giggled. "You’re super cute too."
Realizing I was still holding her hand, I quickly let go. "Oh, I’m sorry! I didn’t realize I was still holding your hand."
She waved it off. "No problem. So, where are you headed?"
"I’m meeting some friends at the café. We’re kind of celebrating,
"Oh, what’s the occasion?"
"Well, not to make a big deal about it, but I’m finally graduating and getting my medical degree,
The woman’s eyes lit up. "OH MY! What do you mean, don’t make a big deal about it? You’re going to become a doctor!"
I blushed, nervously tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "Yeah, I guess."
She smiled and let out a laugh. "Well, I’ll let you go, but before you do, what’s your name?"
"It’s Luna,"
"Nice to meet you, Luna. My name is Silvia.
Such a beautiful name."
As Luna’s cheeks turned even redder.
"Oh, stop! It’s not as cute as yours."
"Let me see your phone," Silvia said, reaching out and taking it. She quickly typed something in and handed it back. "Here’s my number. Maybe when you’re done hanging with your friends, we can hang out sometime."

Luna stammered, her cheeks flushed pink. "S-sure, I’d like that."
"Alright then, I’ll see you later, Luna. Take care!"
"You too, Silvia," as she watched Silvia walk away, her heart fluttering slightly.
Finally making it to the cafe, I see my friends waving at me soon as I enter.
"What took you so long to get here"
I was almost here, about to cross the street, but a group of idiot teens driving almost hit me, luckily I was saved by this beautiful, handsome women. As her eyes start wondering sitting her chin on her hand imagine her face in her mind.
A sudden silence was at the table, then a burst of laughter.
You mean to tell us you almost got hit, and a beautiful women saved you? Ok, ok I can believe the saving part, but for the 6 years we have been hanging out you never showed interest in no one, "NO ONE" the entire table said together. All of sudden you have a crush, the Luna bookworm, the Luna stay in my dorm everyday studying.
Luna poke her lips out, folding her arms together, mmmhh. We are about to graduate, I will finally have time for all those things, by the way is this mines? As she points at the drink.
Yea that's yours, I told you we already order your favorite, don't blame us if its half melted you the one taken your time to get here falling in love. "My other friends start laughing"
I took a couple of sips, and was about to say something when I felt a sharp stinging pain in my mouth. My throat tightened, and I start to panic.
"What’s in this?" Luna asked, her voice cracking as her throat started to burn.
"Your favorite! Chocolate caramel!"
Luna’s eyes widened. She bolted from her seat and ran to the counter. "Asking the cashier, Is there peanuts in this?" As she glanced over the counter, she saw the server using the same spoon to scoop caramel and peanuts.
"I have a PEANUT ALLERGY! Why are you using the same utensils for everything!!"
The cashier’s face turned pale. "I’m so sorry! The person behind the counter is in training—"
But Luna didn’t hear the rest. Her throat was closing, her breath was becoming labored. She frantically searched her purse for her EpiPen, but it wasn’t there. Her friends, seeing her panic, jumped to their feet.
"What’s happening?" "Are you okay?"
"There’s peanuts in it!" Luna wheezed. Her vision blurred, her breaths becoming more ragged. She couldn’t find her EpiPen.
Her friends screamed for help. The café erupted into chaos as someone called an ambulance.
Minutes felt like hours, but finally, paramedics rushed in.
"Move out of the way! Coming through!" Assessing Luna’s condition quickly. "What’s the issue?"
"She has a peanut allergy! She’s not breathing!" one of her friends cried.
"Get the EpiPen, now!" one paramedic ordered. They grabbed the pen from their kit, biting the cap off with their teeth before stabbing it directly into Luna’s chest.
Start CPR, "One, two, three, four—!" another paramedic called out as they hoisted Luna onto the stretcher.
"Are any of you related to her?" they asked the group of friends. "No," they all replied, their voices shaky. "Contact her parents or any relative ASAP."
As the ambulance sped toward the hospital, Luna’s thoughts drifted. All those nights studying, all the sacrifices... I was so close. She reached weakly into the air, her vision fading into a blinding white light. I wanted to repay all the sacrifice my family made, I wanted to give them a good life, take care of my younger brother and sister being the big sister they deserve. I wanted to remove the struggling lifestyle they had and replace it with happiness, no worries, no stress.
She had always been selfless, always thinking of others before herself. Even in these final moments, her family’s well-being was her only concern.
Her breathing grew heavier, shallower. "Bring out the oxygen mask! More pressure—one, two, three, four!" the paramedics shouted.
But Luna’s eyes began to close. Her hand, once reaching for something unseen, dropped limp against the stretcher. The shrill, continuous tone of the heart monitor filled the ambulance.
"Vital signs zero," a nurse whispered, with tears in her eyes."
No its not over the other nurse stated, as she continue to press down on her chest performing cpr.
The other nurse grab her shoulder, tears rolling down her cheek. "We tried everything"
