Synopsis
When Kai leaves The Outskirts and steps onto Lumina’s entrepreneurial campus, the game designed to save their planet (Nova ONE) begins.
SKYLINE was developed by one of the most successful innovators on the planet, Carmichael Stone, founder of Stone Industries. His company holds a monopoly on the planet’s magical energy source: Emberstones. The problem is, Emberstones are in short supply, and if Nova ONE doesn’t find a new source of energy soon… the planet will end up just like all the other planets in The Thundercloud System.
Uninhabitable.
In an effort to find a solution, Carmichael Stone uses government funding to build SKYLINE: an immersive role-playing game for students at Lumina. On the surface, it is a competitive way to learn problem-solving skills, acquire items, climb the leaderboard, and win the yearly Startup Competition. But as Kai, his friend Topher, their rival Aiden, and many others soon discover, the game’s quests and challenges are simulations of the past—with the hopes of one of these young innovators finding a way forward for their planet’s future.
Before it’s too late.
