Chapter 1: Terrible Accident.

(*Lulia’s POV*)

Dying kinda sucks, but the way I died is decently funny. At least, I find it funny. Falling off of a skyscraper gives me plenty of time to think through my life.

Granted, I didn’t really do that much. Which makes me sound kinda shitty, as I am over twenty years old, but still haven’t done anything of importance.

And I never will, as I will be dying soon. Sure, I went to college, got a good GPA, but I haven’t actually gotten a job yet. Frankly, I didn’t even need one.

This is where the main problem occurred. My father wasn’t long for the world, so which one of his children would end up with his massive fortune, was up in the air.

To think that such a stupid succession game would happen in 2025 is still funny to me. My older brother, who I won’t even bother to name, slowly killed off all of my siblings.

Of course, being from a rich family, he was able to kill them without getting caught at all. Once my first sibling out of eight was dead, I told him straight to his face that I did not want our father’s money.

It’s not like we didn’t have any money either, as our father spoiled us greatly. I didn’t need his fortune, nor did I even need to work. That stupid brother of mine clearly thought that I just lied to him.

Which is evident as he called me up to the top of a building that he owned. Fucker didn’t even talk to me for more than a single minute before he pushed me off of the edge of the building.

Shit… I guess that I should have signed a legally binding document that stated that I couldn’t get his fortune. Fucker even called me out here, simply because father had just died.

So I was the last obstacle in his way, huh? What trash… Why the fuck is it even taking so long for me to fall, anyway? Sure, I fell from very high up, but surely I should have hit the ground by now, right?

As I thought that, I suddenly hit something. My world was thrown asunder, but I managed to at least see what I landed on. It was a bus. Oddly, I didn’t die, but I was super fucking injured.

Why the hell did a bus stop my fall, anyway? Yeah, I know that you can survive a fall if you land on the roof of a car, or on a big pile of clothes, but from this height? Was this some goddamn divine intervention, or something?

Regardless, I was still somehow alive. Honestly, I did not care to get revenge on my brother, I just hope he thinks that I am super already dead. The driver of the bus called emergency services, and soon an ambulance arrived and took me away.

I was in and out of being awake the entire trip, though I do remember being in a hospital room, eventually. A very hot female doctor showed up in the room, and talked to others while I watched.

Probably from falling, but I actually couldn’t hear them at all. They talked for a few minutes, and then one of the nurses put something in my IV. Whatever it was, it knocked me out very quickly.

Not like I cared, I didn’t even know how I survived. The fall hurt like hell, but now I didn’t feel any pain at all. Most likely because I was on a shit ton of painkillers, or something along those lines.

While asleep, I felt as if I was thrown into a minus temperature ice bath. That was all that I remembered before I felt like I was put in a long slumber…

*Unknown Amount of Time Later.*

When I woke up, I was once again in a hospital room, just on a patient’s bed. The room felt odd, though… Rather than a hospital, it was as if the room was trying its hardest to look like one.

It’s hard to explain, but the room just felt somewhat off. Just a little uncanny. A few minutes later, a nurse came into the room.

Nurse: “Ah, Miss Lulia? It is good to see you awake.” She said with a smile.

Lulia: “How long was I asleep for?” I ask with a curious tone.

Nurse: “Only a week.” She replied.

Without any evidence, I still felt that she was lying to me. Though, I did have more proof of this place being odd, as the nurse wore an outdated nurse outfit.

I ignored her, and went to pick up my smartphone that was on a stand near my bed. I examined it carefully, and the marks on it clearly mean that it’s mine. There are some other marks as well, most likely from when I fell.

Turning on my smartphone, and unlocking it, I checked the date. Fucking hell… Either this phone is bugged, or these people are really bad at their jobs…

My smartphone said that the date was July 12, 2065. I wasn’t going to just go off of my phone’s date, as it could have gotten damaged from the fall. As such, I looked up the date on the internet. It was the same date as my smartphone displayed…

Lulia: “Care to explain why the date is many years in the future?” I ask with a raised eyebrow as I show the nurse my smartphone.

Nurse: “Damn fools… I knew that they would forget something.” She said with an annoyed tone.

I was going to speak to her, but then she clapped her hands. The walls went into the floor, and revealed an odd futuristic set. The nurse didn’t look like a nurse anymore either, and instead she now looked like an office lady.

Lulia: “What the hell?… I am even more confused…” I say with a confused expression.

Not Nurse: “As you should be. My name is Monica, and this is many years in the future from your time, Lulia.” She said with a laugh.

Lulia: “…”

Monica: “You must be confused, I understand. Regardless, we need your help.” She said with a serious tone.

Lulia: “What the hell do you need me for?” I ask with a head tilt.

Monica then showed me something that rocked my world. Frankly, I was so fucking shocked by what she showed me, that I ended up passing out…
