CH-13 Lizards!!

Life is like a journey through a labyrinth, full of unexpected turns and twists. Some paths are well-traveled and familiar, while others are hidden, leading us to places we never anticipated. Each step we take adds to the unique story of our lives, guiding us to both known and unknown destinations.

In the dance of life, even nature can surprise us. Birds may not always follow the wind's direction, and sheep might stray from the herd. Life often doesn't go as planned, taking us on unexpected detours. Yet, even in these unpredictable moments, we're not alone on this journey.

When strangers cross paths, they become aware of the threads that connect their lives. These encounters lead them to shared desires and dreams. They seek a place where their aspirations can come true, a sanctuary where their hopes resonate through time. In this world, even if it doesn't always fulfill their wishes, it doesn't harm their fragile lives.

Decimus ventured on a quest for the lord's treasure, braving treacherous landscapes teeming with monsters. High-ranking and low-ranking creatures crossed his path, but he pressed forward with unyielding determination.

However, just as Decimus was about to move closer to his ultimate goal of reaching the infernal treasure chamber, he paused to address an issue. It was at this moment that his companions, Chrome and Brian, found themselves entangled in a precarious situation.

"Ss...sir Decimus!" Brian's voice quivered, a mix of fear and urgency lacing his words.

"....please," Chrome's voice trembled, his plea hanging in the air.

Inches away, a reptile's eyes locked onto Chrome's, the tension palpable. Both held their breath, a silent plea passing between them. Their eyes met in a desperate understanding, silently screaming for help, for salvation, for any sign of rescue.

A 'Carnomalis', a gigantic lizard-like being, stood before them. Its towering height of Seven-six feet, long neck, and tail seemed even more imposing up close. Its sharp reptilian eyes fixated on Chrome, its teeth resembling deadly knives glinting in the dim light.

Amid this tension, their savior Decimus was absent. Instead of rushing to their aid, he had seemingly abandoned his role as the protector. Oblivious to the unfolding crisis, he lay sprawled on a tree branch, deep in slumber.

The weight of his carelessness pressed upon Chrome and Brian as they faced the looming threat of monsters alone, their words of distress going unheard in the presence of their napping comrade.

[Why is he sleeping? Didn't he say he would help?] Brian's inner thoughts echoed with frustration.

As Chrome and Brian confronted the towering creature, a well-known saying whispered in their minds – one's journey truly begins only when they grapple with a force of nature. Despite the odds, the two companions resolved to earn their adventure stripes, a determination etched in their eyes.

"..." Chrome's attempt to retreat was met with the monster's intensified growls, its curiosity morphing into aggressiveness. As he struggled to put distance between himself and the massive creature, the beast's smoky breath hung heavy in the air. Amidst this perilous standoff, trivial matters like smoky breath seemed inconsequential.

Then, in a sudden motion, the beast turned its head at an angle, curiosity gleaming in its eyes. It observed Chrome and Brian's tentative gestures, their hands tentatively reaching towards it.

With a strange sense of connection, the gap between human and beast seemed to shrink, the tension escalating with each heartbeat.

With swift agility, Chrome dropped down and coiled around the lizard's elongated neck, exerting his strength to twist it. Surprisingly, the small dinosaur remained unbothered, allowing Chrome's embrace.

But just as things seemed to be under control, Brian charged forward, targeting the lizard's abdomen. The force of his impact unbalanced the creature, toppling it onto its back.

For a brief moment, it appeared that Chrome's maneuver might indeed lead to the lizard's downfall.

However, this creature possessed unexpected nimbleness. In a stunning display of reflexes, it flipped itself mid-air, countering its impending fall. Its tail lashed out, striking Chrome with immense force, sending him hurtling several feet away. At the same time, its head connected with Brian's abdomen, resulting in both men crashing to the ground.

Groans of pain echoed as Chrome and Brian struggled to regain their breath and composure. Rising to their feet with shaky determination, they faced their nimble adversary.

The creature assumed a poised stance, its focus sharpened on the duo, poised to strike at any instant.

The creature took one step, then another, before launching into a lightning-fast sprint. Chrome and Brian's only option was to run with all their might, fleeing like prey pursued by relentless predators.

The relentless pounding of their hearts matched the rhythm of their frantic footsteps. Stopping even for a moment was out of the question; their lives depended on their speed.

"Brian, do something!" Chrome's cry was laced with desperation.

"What the fuck can I do in this?" Brian's response was a mixture of panic and frustration.

"Sire Decimus, save us!" Their voices merged into a frantic chorus.

In an attempt to divert the creature's focus from himself, Chrome veered off in a different direction. However, fate had other plans, and the horned predator changed course, its relentless pursuit undeterred.

Brian, pausing to assess the situation, witnessed Chrome's perilous chase. The sacrifice his friend was making weighed heavily on his mind.

"Why do you have to ... you dumbass?" Brian's internal monologue mirrored his distress.

With a jarring stumble, Chrome's footing faltered, and he found himself crashing to the forest floor. His heart raced as he fought to regain his balance, knowing that his life hung in the balance.

Desperation etched across his face, he hastily adjusted his position to face the charging creature. In that split second, his survival instinct kicked in, and he raised his blade defensively, bracing for the onslaught.

The predator, a force of primal ferocity, leaped towards Chrome with lightning speed. Its gaping jaws, lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth, were aimed at him with deadly accuracy.

Chrome's heart pounded like a drum in his chest as he held his ground, the weight of the creature's attack bearing down on him. He gritted his teeth, muscles straining, desperately trying to fend off the imminent strike.

The creature's strength was overwhelming, a relentless force that pressed down on Chrome, causing his grip on his sword to waver. The sound of metal scraping against scales filled the air as Chrome's blade struggled to withstand the pressure.

And then, with a heart-wrenching snap, his sword shattered under the onslaught. Panic surged through him, a chilling realization that his defense had crumbled.

But just as the jaws of the creature seemed poised to close around Chrome, an unexpected savior emerged. Brian, who had been observing the harrowing scene from the shadows, seized his moment. Unsheathing his own blade, he lunged from behind the creature.

The creature's attention remained fixated on Chrome's blade, granting Brian a fleeting advantage. His sword found its mark with deadly precision, piercing through the creature's sinewy neck.

A torrent of dark red blood spewed forth, painting the forest floor in grotesque hues. The predator staggered, its once mighty form faltering as if in disbelief. Its roars of agony filled the clearing, a chilling chorus of torment that seemed to echo through the very soul of the forest.

Losing its battle against the force of gravity, the creature crashed to the ground, its massive form thudding against the earth. Brian's agility saved him from being crushed, his breath ragged as he distanced himself from the dying beast.

As the forest absorbed the creature's anguished cries, an eerie stillness settled over the scene. The once fearsome predator now lay in a state of vulnerability, its life slipping away with each labored breath. The glint of its predatory eyes dimmed, replaced by a haunting emptiness as it faced the inevitability of its demise.

"KHURUUuruuuuuruuuruu..." The creature's final cry echoed through the woods, a mournful symphony that marked the end of its reign of terror.

Brian's frustration boiled over, his grip on Chrome's collar tightening.

"Don't you ever do that again," he scolded, his voice trembling with a mixture of anger and relief.

"I-I was scared," Chrome stammered, tears streaking down his cheeks as he averted his gaze from Brian's intense stare. Brian's hold remained firm, a mix of concern and annoyance evident in his grip.

"You can't risk your life like that," Brian's tone turned serious and urgent, his words carrying a weight of warning. "Do you understand?"

"Huh?" Chrome's confusion was evident, his expression a mix of tears and bewilderment.

Amidst the tension, a voice cut through the air like a knife. "Now now now, don't be fightin', ya hear?" Decimus' sudden appearance startled both Brian and Chrome, their attention snapping to him.

"You scared the shit out of me," Brian's exclamation was a blend of surprise and relief.

"Don't be shittin' yer pants now, you let that chick call its pals now we gotta fight 'em," Decimus' gruff words carried a mixture of nonchalance and urgency.

Chrome's mind raced, grappling with Decimus' words. [Was that lizard a female?]

Before Brian could fully respond, Decimus continued, his tone cryptic yet loaded with meaning. "Hey, young'uns, did ya hear a sayin'?"

"What sayings?" Chrome's inquiry was punctuated by his confusion.

Brains' exasperation was obvious "Is this even the time to be worried about that?"

Decimus muttered "We're surrounded by at least a hundred of 'em."

"Hundred of who..." Chrome began, the words dying on his lips as he followed Decimus' gaze. He found himself ensnared in the predatory gaze of hundreds of fearsome reptilian eyes, an army of potential adversaries closing in.

"The sayin' goes that you ain't killin' a herd like this without becoming a part of it y'self," Decimus' gravelly voice imparted a somber truth.

"Well, that was not clear enough. But what do we do?" Chrome's voice wavered between anxiety and determination, his mind racing for a solution.

Decimus' response was as enigmatic as his earlier words. "Since you 'ave failed ta wrassle the 'Carnomalis', why don't ya kill 'em by the scores before aye give ya a pass."

"Huh!" Chrome and Brian's incredulous chorus echoed through the tension-filled forest, the reality of their perilous situation settling heavily upon them.
