Lover's daughter
the attraction of fate

the attraction of fate

Autumn is always romantic in Boston. Yellow ginkgo leaves are scattered in the wind, and the streets are full of colorful leaves.

Daniel was sitting at the Vester cafe on the first floor of the Broad Institute where he works that day as always. After a light lunch, Daniel looked leisurely at the people passing through the window with a glass of warm americano in his hand.

Then, suddenly, the cafe door opened and a woman came into my eye. She resembled someone deeply imprinted in Daniel's memory, as if she had traveled through time.

Her long brown hair, blue eyes, and even her smile matched the image of her missing wife, Adele, in her youth.

Daniel's face turned pale, and unknown emotions shot up from his chest. His lips hardened as if he had lost his way of speaking, and even though his heart was beating fast, time seemed to have stopped.

The moment he encountered her blue eyes, the same as his wife he loved, even though it was a very short time. As he remembered happy moments with Adele, longing and confusion began to tangle deep in his heart.

Eventually, Daniel laid down the cup with his trembling hands and decided to approach her. His steps were heavy and cautious, but they made their way to her as if he were being led by a pull of fate.

She sat by the window looking at the menu. Daniel talked carefully, trying to calm his palpitations.

"Excuse me," said Daniel.

"Have you... met before? I think I've seen you somewhere."

She looked at me with astonishment.

"I'm sorry, but I don't know you at all."

Her voice was soft but firm

Daniel smiled, hiding his bewilderment.

"Oh, I see. I'm so sorry. Maybe I was mistaken."

She nodded lightly and turned back to the menu.

Daniel returned to his seat and sat down, but still could not take his eyes off her.

"Who the hell is she? How can she be so identical?"

The thought of solving this mystery filled his mind.

The fall in Boston was getting deeper and deeper, and Daniel continued to visit the cafe more frequently after that day.

At that time, he could not imagine how an accidental encounter with her would make a difference in his life.

Danielle is a senior advisor at the Broad Institute | Stanley Building, located on Kendall Square Broadway.

Broad Institute is a biomedical laboratory co-founded by M.I.T. and Harvard, where Daniel is responsible for researching disease mechanisms and developing innovative treatments based on human genome mapping.

Daniel, in particular, is a world-renowned authority on CRISPR gene-scissors technology that he worked with his wife, Adele.

Daniel sat in his office for a cup of coffee and was waiting for his first meeting with new researchers selected for Broad Biomedical Post-baccalaureate Scholars (BBPS) program.

BBPS is a very popular program for graduates of high-performing M.I.T. or Harvard because it offers two years of paid work at Broad Institute.
