Chapter 323

CHAPTER 323

"I didn't believe it either at first, but that's exactly why I didn't stop looking for more proof," Sam said. "In the end, I found out that you're indeed having an affair with a middle-aged man. I saw the video in which both of you were hanging out together like a sweet couple. That man has a wife, a son, and a daughter who is around your age. How can you…"

"Enough! That's enough!" Angie's smile stiffened coldly in that instant. "Did you come here and see me just to talk about that, Sam? If that's the case…" She stood up and added, "I'm going to excuse myself now."

"You can't pretend as if nothing ever happened at all, Angie." Sam stood up and reprimanded the lady, saying, "You may insist on your denial, but you can’t change the fact that you're giving up on yourself by being a mistress who is having an affair with a married man."

"Me? Giving up on myself?" Angie mocked herself while curling her lips upward. "Do you think I wanted to be in my current position if I had the choice? Who would want to? Anyway, you have everything you can possibly think of in your life, so I don't expect you to understand my situation."

"Your situation?" Sam knitted his eyebrows. "What kind of situation are you in?"

"Oh, so you want to know about my situation?" Angie curled her lips upward, her eyes filled with hatred. "I should be enjoying a good life in the Wendel Family, feeling the love from my parents and brother, but what do I have left now? Do you understand how it feels for me to lose everything in an instant? What have I done wrongly to deserve that? In the past twenty years, I treated my parents well and cared about my brother because they were everything to me, but in return, they abandoned me like I was some trash!"

Her eyes turned red as she shook her head in disappointment. "You're someone who looks down from a high place, and you will never understand how I feel, Sam."

"Is that why you chose to give up on yourself and become some middle-aged man's mistress?" Sam looked at the lady in disbelief.

"Doesn't this reason sound sufficient to you?" Tears welled up in Angie's eyes. "Do you know how heartless they were? They left me with nothing even though the Wendel Family had a fortune worth billions. I treated them as family, but they cast me away without giving me anything!"

The lady shivered from head to toe, covering her chest with her palm while talking in a shaking voice. "That was my home! The Wendel Family was my home when I was a child, and everyone in it was family to me, but they just abandoned me without a single thought of hesitation. When I left, they didn't even bother giving me a house. How could they do this to me?!"

"They are not your family! They never were!" Sam coldly added, "You belong with the Colt Family, and you share the same blood with Xander and Cameron. As such, you have nothing to do with Aunt Crystal and Uncle Michael!"

"No! That's not true!" Angie angrily refuted Sam. "They raised me over the years while I called them my parents. They were the closest family members to me! We spent more than two decades living together, and you think I can just forget about it?! Never! I'll never be able to forget them, but they… They had no problem letting me go after everything we went through in the past two decades!"

She suddenly smiled coldly. "I think I know why now. It was all because Madeline married Sebastian! Sebastian is the famous heir of the Hart Family, as well as Dusktown's favorite son. Since the Hart

Family is more established than the Wendel Family, it should come as no surprise that the Wendels were counting on Madeline's marriage to gain the Hart Family's favor. That's right! That's the only reason they cast me away after we lived together for more than twenty years!"

"Is that why you hated Madeline and her sons so much that you wanted to kill them?" Sam questioned Angie's motive. "You think Madeline took everything away from you, including your place in the Wendel Family and your comfortable life, so you wanted revenge by killing them! Even if what you say is true, what does that have to do with Isabel? You may have a reason to hate Uncle Michael and Aunt Crystal, but Isabel has always treated you like a sister. In fact, she never did anything to wrong you, so why did you set her up?!"

"It was all because of you!" Angie smiled ambiguously at Sam. "It was all because she has a good brother like you whom I can never have." She curled her lips upward, her eyes filled with grudge and hatred.

"Tell me everything that Isabel is better than me at, Sam. She is dumb and haughty. Just take a look at the trouble she caused in the past, but even so, she still had you by her side to protect her. However, my eight brothers couldn't even compare to you when I met my downfall. None of them had a heart as they didn't give a damn about me once I got into trouble, but you let Isabel stay by your side and take care of her even though her grandpa and mother set your brother up and wounded him so severely that he was left crippled with a long list of post-traumatic illnesses that would bother him for the rest of his life."

She coldly smiled and said, "Sam, I know I shouldn't compare, but I'm prettier and much more mature than Isabel is, but she lives a life so much better than mine. How do you think I'm going to feel about that?"

"They are not your family! They never were!" Sam coldly added, "You belong with the Colt Family, and you share the same blood with Xander and Cameron. As such, you have nothing to do with Aunt Crystal and Uncle Michael!"

"That's your reason?" Sam looked at her in disbelief. "Angie, you should see a psychiatrist!"

"Haha!" Angie covered her lips and laughed out loud. "No wonder you're the town's favorite son, Sam. You sound polite even when you're berating someone! Are you going to call me sick for that? I don't think I deserve that, though. Instead, I think I'm doing what's right for the sake of justice! I'm a pretty and mature lady, yet I'm homeless and abandoned, living a life full of misery. On the other hand, Isabel is a dumb and wicked woman who ironically has a kind brother like you to protect her. Having nothing to worry about, she remained haughty and arrogant even after she was cast away by her family. Do you really think that's fair to me?!"

"You…" Sam's face flustered with anger as he shook his head in disappointment. "How have you become a different person, Angie?"

"What do you think I've become?" Angie's eyes rolled around as she smiled seductively. "I'm happy with my life now. Although my husband may be a lot older than I am, he loves me and listens to my every word. Furthermore, you might want to be more careful with your use of words. I'm Jeffrey's wife, not his mistress. You're a decent rich man who is highly educated, so you ought to be more cautious with your use of words." Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.

"Jeffrey Miller is your husband?" Sam widened his eyes. "His son is married, and his daughter is even older than you are!"

"So what?" Angie continued, "There are no boundaries in love, and age is just a number. As such,

nothing is going to stand in our way. What seems to be the problem to you?"

"You…" Sam was rendered speechless. A few moments later, he sighed and asked, "Do you think you've won by abetting Isabel to kill Madeline and her sons while you watched without getting your hands dirty? After Isabel was put behind bars, you thought you could get away with your crimes without being caught. You must think you're really smart, right?"

Angie smiled without saying a single word, feeling proud of herself for pulling off such a clever plan as she pitted two of her enemies against each other without getting her hands dirty. Although she agreed with Sam's compliment about her wits on the inside, she decided not to speak her mind.

"You're wrong, Angie." Sam sighed and shook his head. "You don't know much about Sebastian, do you? He is going to come after you for what you've done…"
