The room went silent, except for the deep breaths she took as she raised her arms in defeat. She looked him in the eyes and then turned away; her hands balled into fists as she grabbed gripped the fabric of her dress and held it up as while she ran. She flew out of the room as couples stopped dancing and parted, making a path clearing for her. The glass doors swung open and shut  harshly as she passed., her Her shawl fluttered and danced in the wind as she spread her arms open and transformed. Her dress ripped violently as her gleaming, sharp scales pierced the silky purple fabric, her wings burst from her shoulder blades and her being shifted easily, becoming a wyverns body…

As her wings beat slowly and her heart beat was that of  like a pounding drum, she, roared in as a burst of anger and pain came over her. she roared  Hher ink colored scales rustling as every fiber of her being, human and dragon, burned with agony. She flew for miles and miles; over the countryside and the countless villages within it, praying that the pain would cease., over countless villages Sshe didn't refused to stop, even when as town and city folk alike gawked in awe as she soared over them. flew over hHer secret, still a revelation to the world. The flame deep within her chest burned like acid and when she could take the pain no longer,  and ached until she screamed, causing and released a scorching blaze of flame to flow heavily flowing into the wind.

She flew until the castle was less than a speck in the distance, not a figure on the horizon it was no longer even a thought in her mind. Her mind rested only on her suitor as she descended upon the rocky beach, the waves lapping at her as she released the magic and shed her scales. Her thoughts of grief blinding her as she cursed his name, and vowed vengeance for the insult he brought upon her and her kin.

The scene of the gala was immortalized in her mind as she screamed, the image of the stone he had presented to her as a betrothal gift. He had handled it so carelessly, knowing it was not a stone at all but a egg. One that she herself had lain only a few years ago, she alone had heard the cry as he had fumbled and it fell to the floor shattering the tiny hope of life it kindled inside. She had never felt such fury as when she discovered it had been her mortal lover who had stolen her only hope of a family from her, the one and only egg she would ever lay. It had remained dormant all this time waiting for her to find it her chance at a future, shattered it left her with the feeling only a mother could feel. A burning fury that enveloped her as she called her magic forth once more transforming again into an ebony wyvern and still she pulled more power around her transporting herself from the beach and onto the castle grounds. Blinded in her rampage she roared and flapped her wings once, twice, three times and ascended in a gust of wind circling the castle she cried out curses. She called out names, Egg thief she called, Murderer she called and still she did not ease her pain. Still she did not relent she roared flames upon the glass dome of the ballroom, the ceiling sizzled and cracked as the fire melted away the glass and twisted the metal frame.

Screams erupted as the party guests fled the room but she refused them this, she landed flame erupting from her maw setting the room ablaze she blocked the entrance with her massive wings. Few guests escaped her fury but those that did would never forget the heat of the flames, the despair in her cries as she whipped her tail amongst the guests and it latched around the man she had once called her lover. In her grief blinded by pain she threw him against the stone walls and let forth jets of flame as she approached him screams encasing the scene.

With a final roar and shriek she dug her talons into his now limp body holding him to the wall with her tail, she sliced her wings down his skin leaving cuts along his arms and legs. When she brought her left wing up to deliver the slice that would sever his head she shrieked in physical pain as a sword embedded under her scales and inside her heart as its length shattered to pieces tearing into her insides she fell atop her attacker. A mere serving boy wielding a dulled blade, he screamed silently as her weight crushed him and as he felt the end near he was suddenly free as her magic truly left her and her body was at last human she lay there in the tatters of her elegant violet ball gown holding the body of her lover the prince and future king. She let loose a short shriek not like a dragon but like any grieving woman as she fell to the tile floor, her body resting atop his she fell.
