Book 4: Chapter 8

Sienna looked around at the various tribes that conjoined at this feast today. Each of their members brought a specialty dish that represented their home. A smile made its way across her lips.

“So, what do you think?” Naomi asked. They donned loose brown pants and a flowy white shirt. They looked far more comfortable in this than the dress they wore upon arrival.

“I think that this is amazing.” Sienna grabbed the torch that would be used to light the fire. The logs the tribes gathered created a pile larger than the mountains, of that Sienna was sure. Her eyes darted around the crowd, searching for Eren.

“She’s still getting ready. Isla will bring her when she’s done.” Naomi smiled.

“I know. I’m just nervous.”

“That makes sense that you are. This is a big night for you both. You, creating the perfect feast to impress her mother and mentor, and her, looking her best to impress you.” Naomi poked Sienna’s arm playfully.

“She doesn’t need to impress me.” Sienna’s brows furrowed.

A wolf howled in the distance, capturing her attention. Eren was atop the grey wolf. She donned a black dress, that was still functional. Her hair was braided and tossed over her shoulder. Sienna felt butterflies flitting about in her stomach as she gazed upon Eren.

An older woman peeked out from behind her. Her mother, Sienna thought. She bit on her thumb nail. I don’t think I’m ready for this.

“Just light the fire and go to her already.” Naomi chuckled.

Sienna threw the torch onto the top of the wood stack. The flames spread with the guidance of Archer and Naomi. Cheers and applauses echoed from the crowd into the sky. The feast began, and various meals were exchanged between everyone.

Sienna weaved her way through the crowd, stopping occasisonally to engage with whoever wanted to thank her or talk to her for a few moments. She was glad to have arrived at the end of the crowd in front of Isla.

Eren slid off the back of Isla, and then helped her mother down. Her mentor must have been the man to the side of Isla.

“Hello,” Sienna said with a wave.

“Greetings,” the man said. His voice was powerful and commanded respect. “I am Gabriel, Eren’s mentor. You must be Sienna.”

She nodded, unsure what to say to the man.

“It is good to meet you,” he said. Gabriel bowed slightly.

“Yes,” Eren’s mother said. “It is very good to meet you. Eren would not stop talking about you.”

Eren’s cheeks were tinged with red. “I have something for us.”

Sienna’s eyes went wide with excitement. “What is it?”

“A drink that I made with my own hands. I call it juice. Grapes have began to grow again back home.” Eren’s eyes lit up as she poured the purple drink into small cups. “To new beginnings.” She held the cup up in the air.

“To new beginnings,” Sienna repeated the words and the action.

Eren’s mother and mentor joined in.

The drink went down with ease. It was by far the sweetest thing Sienna has ever tasted. “That’s amazing,” she commented.

Eren’s cheeks reddened. “I’m glad.”

“Well, we’ll leave you two youngsters to yourself.” Eren’s mom winked at Eren before wrapping her arms around Gabriel’s. Sienna watched as they joined in the festivities.

Eren exhaled loudly. “So… how have you been?”

“Honestly, it’s been way too easy. I feel like since Sha’al has been gone that life has been too easy.” Sienna shrugged. “Not that I want him back,” she quickly added. “I don’t want him back. I just miss the thrill and the excitement.”

“Then let’s go to the desert and see the world,” Eren suggested.

“Together?”

“With Isla of course.”

“But what about Titus?” Sienna looked down at her feet. “I don’t want to not go, I just worry about him, and how he would do by himself.”

“That’s a good point. Maybe we travel to the coast. Your rivers reach it, and then we travel to the desert.” Eren sat against Isla’s leg.

“That does sound nicer. I wonder which tribe we would run into first.” Sienna sat beside her.

“Maybe the Scorpio tribe?”

“That would be cool and scary. Do you think they really have giant scorpions as pets?” Sienna shuddered.

“Of course they would. They wouldn’t have sunfish as their pet,” Eren said with a laugh.

“I think I would prefer sunfish to scorpions though.”

“Just think of their scorpions as sunfish.” Eren laughed some more.

“I’m glad one of us is amused by this dilemma.” Sienna crossed her arms and pouted.

“It’s better for one to be delighted than none. It’s how you know you did an amazing job of doing what you do.”

“Hm,” Sienna said. “I never thought of it that way.”

“I know you didn’t. That’s why you have me here to remind you.”

“I appreciate that.” Sienna leaned her head against Eren’s shoulder. “I appreciate you.”

Eren’s fingers combed through Sienna’s hair. “I appreciate you too.”

They sat in silence with each other until the big demonstration popped up. They met up with Archer and Naomi. Riven pretended to be Sha’al for the feast. They laughed as they mimicked what they did to defeat him in an exaggerated manner. The whole spectacle was amazing. And when the crowd cheered, Sienna smiled.

This is the peace that they fought for. This is everything in the past led up to. And maybe she wasn’t meant to be the one blessed by Pisces originally, but she was glad to be it now. More than anything. She was everything her family created her to be. She looked around at Archer, Naomi, and Eren.

“Thank you,” she said. “For everything.”

Archer smiled brightly at her. “If anything, I should be thanking you for introducing me to the love of my life.”

“Are you two finally engaged?” Naomi prompted.

“We are not nearly old enough to be thinking of such things. Instead, we exchanged promise rings.” Archer’s cheeks were a bright red.

“I like that idea,” Eren said. She ran her fingers along her ring finger.

Sienna blushed herself. Though the two of them weren’t official, the idea of a promise ring made her heart race.

“What about you, Eren? What are you thankful for?” Naomi nudged her.

“For meeting you all. Without you guys, I don’t think any of this would have been possible. Sha’al would have killed Stellina, and my tribe would have disappeared without a trace.” Eren looked up and smiled.

“You’re so sweet,” Naomi cheered. They flung their arms around Eren. “And to think you were the most aggressive person ever a short while ago.”

“Well, we all have our flaws. Like yours is running away from becoming chief.” Eren smirked.

“I just don’t think I’m ready for that yet. It’s a big responsibility, and what if I fail my people? Wouldn’t they hate me?” Naomi looked down at their feet.

“I thought I failed my people when I relied on you guys to help me defeat Sha’al,” Sienna piped up.

Eren nodded in agreement.

“They’ll stay by your side as long as you don’t turn into Sha’al 2.0,” Sienna joked.

“Well, there goes all my fun.” The four of them broke into laughter.

“I’m glad to see you’re all enjoying yourselves, but I must steal Archer away for a dance,” Riven said, interrupting their laughter.

Archer rushed to his side and clasped his hands. “Let’s dance!” The two of them spun and jumped around haphazardly. There was no thought into what they did other than to do whatever was most fun.

“May I have this dance with you?” Eren asked, stepping close to Sienna.

“Of course.” Sienna grabbed Eren’s hand. The two spun around as soon as Naomi stepped out of the way. Large, toothy grins covered both their faces. Sienna thought that Eren was by far the best looking person here.

“What do you think about moving here, permanently?” Sienna asked.

Eren spun around her finger, her dress flying out. “The idea sounds nice, but which house would I live in and what would I do?”

“Well, after we travel the world, you can live in my house, free to do whatever you want because I’m the chief of my tribe and command that you shall not do more than what you want.”

Eren smiled. “I like that idea. I really do.” Eren wrapped her arms around Sienna’s waist, picking her up and spinning her around. “After we see everything in the world, we return home and bring everything we learned to the Fisherman Tribe. We’ll create a hub that’s a centrepiece to culture and everything wonderful about the world.”

Sienna giggled. “And we’ll be in the centre of that place.”

“Naturally. Standing hand in hand, while Titus and Isla stand paw in fin.”

“I love that.” Sienna leaned her head up towards the sky. “Let’s do it.”

Eren set Sienna down on the ground. “First, you have to agree to be my one and only though.”

“Hmmm, that’s a hard choice. As you can see, I’m surrounded by so many options.” Sienna winked. “I think I’ll have to think about it.” She whistled a playful tune as she glanced around. “Hmmm.”

“I’ll let you go for a ride on Isla.”

“Deal.” Sienna wrapped her arms around Eren’s waist and lifted her. “My turn,” she whispered. Her lips brushed along Eren’s cheek. “Now, about that ride?”
